Can I cut my 75 mg Elavil tablet in half?

Hi sryall530, I must agree with the Dr., talk to your doc before doing this please. IF you are having serious side effects, call your doctor to inform him/her of your problems and ask if you can cut the dose.

I cut my 25mg tablets in half all the time, 25mg makes me to tired the next day.

Elavil can be cut in half. However, what would be the reason for decreasing the dosage, have you discussed this option with your Doctor?

I am taking 150 mg at night, both to help me sleep and to decrease pain from inflammatory arthritis. I have speech skips, uncontrolled movements at this dose. Those side effects were significantly less noticeable at a lower dosage. Thank you for your answer Dr. Joshi!
