What do they do with this?

If there is an Alka Seltzer Cold formula(and I believe there is) this could possibly be used as a "kiddie" drug for the "buzz" (or more like drowsiness) from the cold meds(antihistamines and decongestants). I remember kids using NyQuil for the same effects but, of course, NyQuil is full of alcohol too, but kids would take 2-3 "shots" at a time for the effects of the alcohol and antihistamines. This would be the only way I could figure for someone to misuse AlkaSeltzer but who knows?

Alka-Seltzer is an effervescent antacid and pain reliever, Alka-Seltzer is marketed for relief of minor aches, pains, inflammation, fever, headache, heartburn, sour stomach, indigestion, and hangovers, while neutralizing excess stomach acid.
Don't really think so, however, do check with a doc/pharmacist if it could be used as a 'drug' by teenagers.
Take care, best wishes.

I believe that your suspicion that teenagers are somehow using Alka Seltzer as a drug for the purpose of impairment is not so far off base. I have a teenage daughter that I caught trying to hide something from me real quickly before I could see it as i entered the doorway of her room. I asked her to please remove herself from her bed and to step back so that i could see what she was hiding from me. I lifted up her pillow and was confused as to why she would be hiding Alka Seltzer from me. When I asked her about it her reply was that she was not feeling well and she did not want to worry me. Some mothers would accept that answer and think nothing of it. This is not sitting right with me at all. I know my daughter and she is not one to throw away the attention that comes to her when she is ill. Especially to save me some worry.
I wish I was replying with the solution to your question, but I am actually replying to ask if you have found any information as to what they are doing with the seltzer. I will be continuing to try to find the answer and will keep you updated with anything I find out. In the meantime I have boxed up all the medicine and locked it in my room.
