I have anti-diarrhea medicine that expired in 2010. Is this medication still good?

I have read several articles that suggest most medications are safe to use up to a year after the expiration date. The biggest problem I can see you having is that the medication may no longer be as effective. I would probably invest in some new medicine at this point since seven years is a pretty long time. Also, you don't want to risk any potential problems with your health by taking a medication that is so long past its expiration date.
