I took Antabuse for more than a month. I stopped for a week and drank moderately one night. I did not notice any ill effects. I started slowly and had four drinks by the end of the night.
The next day at lunch I had a plate of spicy food. Very spicy. I like it that way and have never had a bad reaction to spicy food. I also had a beer, one, with the spicy food. About 90 minute later I had the most severe stomach cramps I've ever experienced. I thought maybe food poisoning but there was no vomiting or diareah. The cramps were unbearable and lasted about an hour. It was a sharp stabbing pain that was very intense.
Could this be linked to Antabuse?
