Has anyone had dialiated pupils from taking Lexapro and how long does this last?

So I am on day 7 and feeling terrible anxious - to the point of anxieties that I had years ago (and had overcome) have come back slightly - for instance - in crowds, talking to people face to face, eyes completely glassy and slightly dialiated - I am so nervous about being on these meds - I am thinking of phoning my GP today to inform him of the experiences I am having - Is this "normal" - feeling desperate :( - feeling conflicting thought as to having started Lexapro in the first place...

It is normal. How do you know about how your eyes look? If someone is feeding you that, it's not helping you, if you're inflicting it upon yourself, stop!! I still say you have to stick it out, to change anything at this time will make this worse.

Nobody is inflicting it - I can see it for myself - my pupils are larger and eyes glassy and just generally finding it hard to keep the eye contact with people - I'll stick it out for sure - got this far now :)

I admire your courage, just know you're not alone, be grateful you're healthy enough to get around, not in a hospital unable to leave, or with a terminal illness.

Once I learned to have perspective at how much worse things can be, it eased a lot of heaviness. It's easy to fall back, our "vision" narrows, and all we see is ourselves (please see I'm saying "we" speaking generally).

So very many things can be worse, when I stay aware of the things I do have, that I'm not living in the street, I'm cancer free, my limbs are all there, and they work, it's the best therapy I've ever had, but it's a constant, a deliberate focus almost moment to moment.

A little at a time, a curious peace creeps in.

Thank you Balbanese for you very kind and encouraging words of support to me - It really helps - and I will keep more focus on the good things - just got a little stressed as this is my first time trying meds and scary for me.

You're welcome. Those of us who have had hell rain down on them and come though it need to be there for those who are struggling.

Make it your goal to have perspective, no further out than the end of your nose! Another thing I did that helped was volunteer at homeless shelters, local hospice always need folks to comfort those who have little time left, and no one else in their lives.

I tell you the truth, after a while I was able to do away with the meds altogether.

Thanks again for your support and encouragement - I work as a community support worker and I am really grateful for that. I am overjoyed to know that you are off meds now and happy in your life. I will keep perspective and will work hard to live the fulfilling life to come - thanks again - you got me through a bad patch today :)

Hi Balbanese - hope you are well - here's the thing - when I collected my 1st script I got 10 mg Lexapro and I collected my second script today which is 5mg- I'm fairly sure my MD prescribed me 5mg initially and the pharmacist made an error - now because I have been on the 10mg for day 9 now and am beginning to adjust I feel nervous about going down to 5mg nxt month - I'm going to phone my MD tmoro anyway but would like your advice - stupid pharmacist making this mistake aft ovr a week of hell - sorry for long message :)

Double-check that 10mg script, it's rare for the Rx to make that sort of error. Part of the issue with going down is how you "think" about it. As is the case with anxiety, how we think, and being aware we can change how we think about things, we can change a lot.

Let me know what the Dr says, and, you may want to consider the private message option on the site as we go forward, you're situation won't be so public then, however, you may prefer it to be to allow other viewpoints, just thinking about your privacy.

I’ve been on lexapro for about 5 days and I haven’t been able to sleep that much and I’ve been waking up in the middle of the night. How long before it really starts to kick in?
