Recently I was diagnosed with type two diabetes. My general practitioner immediately prescribed metformin. I found a new endocrinologist and made an appointment with him to discuss an action plan. He immediately put me on Jardiance given my heart disease history. I just started taking the Jardiance and have felt fatigued and out of sorts. My blood sugar went from normal on metformin to 155. Can Jardiance elevate blood sugar?

I am experiencing a similar problem. My blood sugars are running higher than when I was on Metformin Therefore, I am in question as well. My sugar readings in the morning when I get up are in the 170s and near 200 reading. My readings taken thereafter before I go to bed are in the high 200s. So, what is up with this?

Many doctors tend to over prescribe "out of an abundance of caution" Try 2000 mg metformin a day. Also try a different endocrinologist. Forget about GP for diabetes. Keep trying different drugs until you find the best combination.

I have nothing against you, but you can not tell a person what dose to take only a medical professional has the training and knowledge to do so, in this case as you mention an Endocrinologist.
Everyone reacts differently to medications, benefits, possible side effects, potential risks, interactions, etc..
Usual Adult Dose for Diabetes Type 2
Immediate-release:
Initial dose: 500 mg orally twice a day or 850 mg orally once a day
-Dose titration: Increase in 500 mg increments weekly or 850 mg every 2 weeks as tolerated
Maintenance dose: 2000 mg/day in divided doses
Maximum dose: 2550 mg/day

Higher blood sugar is not listed as a potential side effect of Jardiance.

I did say, try several endocrinologists. I've found they differ greatly in their advice. I give my experience with metformin. I think it's good for individuals to state their experience with drugs. Many drs. want to just push you out the door, and I've gotten bad (even terrible) advice from doctors, so giving advice from real users can often be as good, if not better than a Dr. with 100 patients and no time or desire to listen to patients.

Well I hope everything works out well for you. Why spend time on a site for people who seek second opinions. If you read my posts carefully, I'm supplying personal experience and suggestions-- not orders-- from that experience. If you can't allow that into your world, I feel sorry for your closed-minded views. Don't participate here, just go to your doctors.
