Dehorning Paste

INGREDIENTS:

Calcium Hydroxide, Sodium Hydroxide

PRECAUTIONS:

External use only. Harmful if swallowed. do not apply to the eyes, mucous membranes. Do not expose calves to wet weather for 12 hours after treatment.

WARNINGS: CORROSIVE, BURNS SKIN.

Antidotes (Call physician immediately)

External: Flood with water, then vinegar

Internal: Give vinegar, then olive oil

Eyes: Flush with water for 15 minutes, then with 5% boric acid solution.

DIRECTIONS:

For use on calves up to 8 weeks of age, preferably 1 to 7 days old. Clip hair from horn buttons and roughen skin from tip to base of button (do not draw blood). Protect surrounding tissue with petrolatum. Apply a thin film of paste to each horn button. Protect hands with rubber gloves. Confine calves for 30 minutes to prevent removal or spreading of paste.

CONTRAINDICATIONS:

Do not use on goats.
