Can Bactrim DS cause a false positive for Benzos.?

Today I tested positive for benzos. I haven't had any issues until I started taking Bactrim on Thursday. And today tested positive. I have not taken any drugs for over 2 years. This is very possible. I'll update upon results from the lab.
Here’s a thought... if you know you’re on the med and you need to take a UA, let them know you’re on the medication (you should be reporting any medication even if it’s over the counter anyway). This way if anything pops up they alteady know. I take regular UAs and have never had a problem with something showing positive since I always let them know if I’m taking anything that I’m worried with “interfere with or cause a false positive result”.
Yes, for sure shows positive for benzo! Happened to me twice!!!
Yes Yes Yes I just spent 3 weeks in jail for taking bactrim. I know it was the bactrim because I haven't taken anything else. So please if you have to drug test DO NOT take bactrim.
so did the p.o. send it to the lab or what..the same thing happend to me today..i have not done no dam benzos, but the dip test was positive.. i just got outta jail and cought staph while there. the hospital gave me bactrim. its all i have taken..i told my p.o. to lab the urine..will it come back positive for benzos still?? or just the bactrim??? PLEASE SOMEONE LET ME KNOW!!!
I just took a drug test today for my po and it was a dip test. I am taking Bactrim for a UTI and my urine test came back for benzos not once but twice. My po is sending it to the lab. I have not used anything but bactrim so yes it can cause a false positive.
Yes again I am on Bactrim Ds I just got a call with the same deal -positive for benzoids. My boss is not concerned because she prescribed the antibiotic for an outer ear infection and being a physician new the possibility of testing positive. Planning to take another type of drug test. -Just to be accountable.
I took a urine screen for home detention and it showed up for benzos. I have not taken any pill other then Bacrtrim in almost two years, so this will happen!!! '
I had a random drug screen today and it showed positive for benzodiazepines as well. I've been taking the generic for Septra DS for a UTI. I definitely haven't been taking any benzos!! If you do have a drug screen after or while taking this medication just save the bottle and show your doctor/boss/p.o.. Good luck!
Yes it does. It caused a false positive for me. So i went to my probation officer and Took a lab test which came out negative for Benzos but positive for Bactrim. So in theory It obviously causes a false negative for Benzo for standardized Drug Tests.
I am so glad I found this answer. I have to take random urine test for my pain management and I have been on Bactrim DS for 2 weeks now and have 2 more weeks to go and my drug test showed today that I was positive for Benzo's. I have never taken any type of Benzo's. So, now I am calling my family dr. and have her do a drug screen and not a standardized Drug test. I was so upset that I was being falsely accused of taking meds. that I don't even know or have.
The same thing happened to me last week I took a drug test for my parole officer and it came up positive for benzos and I know that I haven't taken any. I've been trying to find out why for the last week and worrying cause I thought I was gonna go back to jail for something I didn't do. I've been taking Bactrim DS for the last 2 weeks now I'm gonna contact him and ask if bactrim was found in my lab results.
I'm glad i seen this i have been freaking out I'm on bactrim and keflex have been for about a week, yesterday and today i came back positive for benzos. I have not taken anything of the sort... i would not normally care what anyone thinks however my kids getting to come home with me depends on weather my u.a's come back clean.
TTTTTTTTTThankkk YOU! Omg I was tired of these people up here saying that it dosen't it obvisiouly they don't know! Anyway Im currently in ASAP for a DUI and I get drugged screened as well and I showed up positive for Benzos and that had me pissed because I was just in class talking about how the rest of the people should leave all their meds alone and go cold turkey like me and so so, then the coulsler said infront of everyone I tested postitive for benzos smh I said wtf!! I know for sure wasn't taking anything besides my 1 med prescribed to me for my UTI and that was Bactrium DS but I had the generic brand and still tested postive! The counsler told me that would not do that it is an antibotic. I went off and told her obvioulsy she ain't no scientest so don't accuse me, so they sent it to the lab and I'm waiting for my results!!! so for all you people out here talking about it's not need to not voice your opinion if you don't know because obviously yall dks!! Thank you. I just had one today. I take no drugs and am taking bactrim.
James, are you 100% sure of this? I just tested positive for benzodiazepines and do not or never have taken anything from this group. I do however take bactrim daily.
Bactrim has been reported as registering a false positive for benzodiazepines on some drug screenings.
