Serious side effects of Choletec

Along with its needed effects, mebrofenin (the active ingredient contained in Choletec) may cause some unwanted effects. Although not all of these side effects may occur, if they do occur they may need medical attention.

Check with your doctor or nurse immediately if any of the following side effects occur while taking mebrofenin:

Rare

• chills
• hives or welts, itching, or skin rash
• nausea
• redness of the skin

For healthcare professionals

Applies to mebrofenin: intravenous powder for injection.

Dermatologic

• Rare (less than 0.1%): Urticaria, rash^[Ref]

Gastrointestinal

• Rare (less than 0.1%): Nausea^[Ref]

Other

• Rare (less than 0.1%): Chills
• Frequency not reported: Death^[Ref]
