Protripyline has not been assigned to a pregnancy category. Animal studies have failed to reveal evidence of adverse effects on reproduction. There are no controlled data in human pregnancy. Protriptyline should only be given during pregnancy when the potential benefits to the mother outweigh the potential risk to the fetus.

There are no data on the excretion of protriptyline into human milk.
