Ipecac Pregnancy Warnings

Ipecac has been assigned to pregnancy category C by the FDA. Animal studies have not been reported. There are no controlled data in human pregnancy. Ipecac is only recommended for use during pregnancy when benefit outweighs risk.

Ipecac Breastfeeding Warnings

There are no data on the excretion of ipecac alkaloids into human milk. Problems in humans have not been reported. Because many drugs are excreted in human milk, caution should be used when ipecac is administered to a nursing woman.
