What is Diovan (Diavan)?

Diovan (Diavan) belongs to a class of blood pressure medications called angiotensin II receptor antagonists. It works by preventing the hormone angiotensin II from tightening the blood vessels, which raises blood pressure. Diovan (Diavan) causes blood vessels to relax (dilate), which lowers blood pressure and decreases the workload on the heart.

Diovan (Diavan) is used to treat high blood pressure. Diovan (Diavan) may be prescribed alone or with other blood pressure medications, such as diuretics that help the body get rid of excess water. It is also used for treating heart failure in patients who do not tolerate (ACE) inhibitors.

Diovan (Diavan) side effects include dizziness, lightheadedness, tiredness, blurred vision, fainting and decreased sexual ability.
