Usual Pediatric Dose for Tick-Borne Encephalitis Vaccination

1 to 15 years: 0.25 mL IM each dose
16 years or older: 0.5 mL IM each dose

Primary Vaccination Schedule:

• First dose: Day 0
• Second dose:
• Aged 1 through 15 years: 1 to 3 months after the first vaccination
• Aged 16 years or older: 14 days to 3 months after the first vaccination
• Third dose: 5 to 12 months after the second dose

Comments:

• The primary immunisation series should be completed at least 1 week before potential exposure to tick-borne encephalitis virus (TBEV).
• A booster dose (fourth dose) may be administered at least 3 years after completion of the primary immunisation series if continued exposure or re-exposure to TBEV is expected.

CONTRAINDICATIONS: Severe allergic reaction to any ingredient of this drug

Administration advice:

• Administer by IM injection.

Storage requirements:

• Store refrigerated at 2C to 8C (36F to 46F).
• Keep syringe in outer carton to protect from light.
• Do not freeze; discard if the vaccine has been frozen.

Reconstitution/preparation techniques:

• Before administration, the vaccine should be brought to room temperature.
• Before administration, the vaccine suspension should be thoroughly mixed by shaking well; after shaking, the vaccine should be a homogenous off-white, opalescent suspension.
