Hydrochlorothiazide / Timolol Dosage

Applies to the following strengths: 25 mg-10 mg

Usual Adult Dose for Hypertension

Initial and maintenance dose: 1 tablet orally twice a day or 2 tablets orally once a day.

Renal Dose Adjustments

Hydrochlorothiazide is generally not effective in patients with creatine clearance less than 25 mL/min.

Liver Dose Adjustments

Hydrochlorothiazide-timolol should be used with caution in patients with hepatic impairment.

Dose Adjustments

Patients usually do not require doses in excess of 50 mg of hydrochlorothiazide daily when combined with other antihypertensive agents.

Dialysis

Timolol is not significantly dialyzed. Limited data from 2 patients undergoing hemodialysis using a Travenol UF II standard coil dialyzer reveal no significant difference between the arterial and venous plasma concentrations during dialysis.

Other Comments

If the antihypertensive response is not satisfactory, another nondiuretic antihypertensive agent may be added.
