Diovan (valsartan) "160 mg after I wake up and 160 mg before I go to sleep. Also, taking rilmenidine 1 mg in the evening. My blood pressure is always from 120 to 140. Diovan (valsartan) saved me for real. I tried zofenopril, captopril, quinapril, got me dermatitis, tried amlodipine, nifedipine, felodipine, lercanidipine, my heart was like a ticking bomb. I can only take *sartan medicine and *nidine central nervous system anti hypertensive agents. So I chose Diovan (valsartan). The doctors also tried olmesartan and irbesartan on me, but, valsartan seemed the best for me. For my angina, I take metoprolol tartrate 50 mg after I wake up."

"Been on Diovan for 9 years. Started with ringing in my ears and now hearing loss - had to get hearing aids. Also, in the last year had increases in Blood Pressure, followed by controlled 'normal' pressure readings. My blood sugar now is classified as Type II, so several of the problems with this medicine are my problems. Am going to ask my doctor to change. If you get ringing in your ears when taking this, don't delay, get off it!"

"I came to my doctor with a sudden onset of 184/111 HBP. I told her that as soon as I noticed it, I dropped soda and added more bananas and oats to my diet. She prescriber Valsartan, which apparently holds onto potassium - so add that to my bananas and potatoes in an effort to eat better....my arms have been numb for weeks and I was all weepy for the last week - I finally looked up side effects of valsartan and I am not going to take it anymore. Too much potassium messes with your nerves. I need my arms."

"While this medication is working for my high blood pressure, it is not without side effects. The one I am experiencing is severe nasal congestion 24/7. I will be going back to my doctor to see what else is available."

"I never had high B/P until a year ago I take generic Valsartan/ HCTZ- Diovan- 160mg/ 25 mg. I have severe weakness, muscle, and joint pain, knees are bad. Diovan does take care of my B/P, Edema too. I have recently been put on Torsemide 20 mg I was told I was in heart failure, whoa!! I am a mess! Ativan helps, But because of people who abuse, people like those who need this Controlled med. suffer, my Dr. gives me not enough but 1 mg per day, so I suffer. I hope I can take Valsartan I am overweight and too weak too exercise"

"My doctor put me on 80mg of Valsartan (Diovan) today is going on day 3 of this medicine. I'm 31 yr old female. The only side effect I get from this medicine is a lightheaded and fuzzy feeling in my head..it's not to bad ..however it does make driving a car or exercise very limited..It has lowered my Blood Pressure 122/88 which is better than 150/80. I take the medicine at night so I can sleep through some of the effects but noticed I still have them when I wake up. Hopefully my body can adjust to this side effect."

"I started taking Valsartan 80 Mg twice daily 2 weeks ago and it did Not bring my blood pressure down, the doctor switched me to Valsartan 160 Mg twice daily. I felt chest pain within 5 minutes of taking it so I was watching myself closely to see if it will happen every time I took the medicine. Side effects were my vision changed, itchy skin and the chest pain continued after each dose. I did reach out to my doctor about all the side effects and now waiting for a different high-blood pressure medicine."

"I started on 80mg in Oct. Two weeks after taking my thumb went numb. We needed to increase the dose to 160mg once a day to help control my Bp. About two weeks later my left arm went numb. I had a stress test and and a brain MRI. Stress test fine and brain scan fine. I continue to have headaches and now going to a Chiro for headaches and neck stiffness. He thinks I may have a pinched nerve. I feel like this drug has caused my arm and leg numbness and headaches. I’m also shedding alot of hair. I began feeling like crap after I started taking this."

"Believe it or not, I was taking perindopril for high blood pressure and began suffering from erectile dysfunction. I told my doctor and he switched me to valsartan. Within a week everything changed. I am waking up with erections akin to Viagra use - rock hard. I am 59 yrs old and thought all was lost regarding sex. My libido is higher as well. It has to be due to valsartan as it is the only thing that was changed since the ED problems."

"Valsartan lowered my BP to 120/69 before my med, then 112/60 after taking it. I was taking 160mg with HCTZ 25 once a day, but the body aches were horrible. My shoulders hurt so bad I couldn't raise my arms above my head, my back hurt, had insomnia, and felt tired all the time. I refuse to take it or any other BP meds - diet and exercise helped; lost 50 pounds."

"Taking Valsartan for about a year now. 160mg twice a day. BP numbers are up and down. The worst side effect for me is the weight gain. I exercise and lift weights 6 days a week. I also don't drink or use drugs. I am eating a plant based diet yet still managed to gain 10 pounds!!! No thank you..."
