Crestor (rosuvastatin) "After a couple months of taking 40 mg Crestor my blood tests showed that my liver enzymes Alanine Aminotransferase (ALT) and Aspartate Aminotransferase (AST) had increased by a factor of 3 or 4. My gastroenterologist (the liver doc) monitored this for a few weeks and told me to stop taking Crestor. I'm now on Praluent and it seems to work fine. My ALT and AST levels are back to normal. I don't feel foot cramps any more. Maybe most importantly is that after 6 weeks of stopping Crestor I feel mentally sharper. I didn't notice it as it happened but I think Crestor effected my ability to think with clarity. A side effect of Crestor mentioned on Mayoclinic.org is "mental fuzziness". So the question for others to consider is has Crestor or another statin effected your mental processes in the same way and if so would you be alert enough to notice it? Liver enzyme problems are rare so maybe I'm a special case, but maybe mental fuzziness is an independent side effect to watch for."

"Rosuvastatin has a lot of side effects that are serious. Doctors will have to balance ordering this medication based upon what the sales reps tell them and the studies show as to the effects on their patients and that.It may be a tough decision. Rosuvastatin worked well for some but has significant side effects that appear to be dangerous, could cause accidents driving with blurred vision, patient does if they are having indigestion or angina it is concerning. Hearing too many side effects here and a lot of money for a not-so-safe drug? Maybe any money is too much money for a not so safe drug? Rosuvastatin side effects are difficulty in moving, leg pain, indigestion (heartburn) mimicing angina, blurred vision (also while driving on the highway!) pounding heartbeat, fast heart beat, trouble breathing, joint pain."

"I also started off on Lipitor after a stroke but had very painful muscles. Switched to Crestor and after just over a year, the carotid blockage of 57-60% that I had to begin with reduced to unmeasurable levels."
