"Stopped the cough, but really "wired" me. Could not sleep, so hydrocodone for stopping the cough was useless for helping me to sleep--- which was the purpose for the med for me. Also, mouth so dry, felt like cotton balls were in my mouth. Only took one dose of this med! Using 2 Benadryl and one Tessalon Perle helped better."

Hycodan (homatropine / hydrocodone) "My allergy doctor gave me Hycodan for my chronic cough of more than 5 years. This stuff works like magic. Stops my cough like nothing else. He also gave me gabapentin. The gabapentin also works but side effects make me hurt all over. I had only taken Hycodan every once and awhile after reading it can be addictive. But with gabapentin side effects, I think I'm going to ween myself off gabapentin and use Hycodan instead. Only thing, insurance doesn't cover Hycodan. I haven't had any bad side effects from Hycodan. I this this medicine a 10. It's wonderful!"

Hydromet (homatropine / hydrocodone) "My pulmonary doctor prescribed Hydromet for severe cough from idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis. It has been a lifesaver. Unexpected side benefit is that the homatropine component provided me with significant relief from sinus and lung congestion, which had worsened with the lung disease. Haven't experienced any unpleasant side effects."

"Was given this today due to week-long cough, congestion and runny nose due to bronchitis and possible pneumonia (still awaiting xray results). Took 1 tsp dose at 5pm, within 10 minutes had severe nausea and chest pain. Laid down, cold rag...symptoms disappeared suddenly within 10 minutes. Stood up, they came back. Repeated lying down/cold rag...symptoms went away. MIGHT have been because I hadn't eaten since 12:30 pm, but not sure. Only the one dose so far. Did have about 5 minutes of feeling like I was sedated, drifting/dozing off, but that went away also. Cough has virtually disappeared though. Can take Vicodin without having these side effects. Symptoms were identical to when I've had Morphine without Zofran immediately following."

"It worked just OK with the first dose, after that it didn't do much to control the cough. I also found it did nothing to help getting the mucus up. I had no adverse side effects such as nausea, vomiting or dizziness. This is with a carefully measured dose of one teaspoon. Overall I found it to be non effective."

"They gave me 150 mg for my cough so i could actually sleep at night but it didnt work for me at all. Didnt stop my cough and didnt help me fall asleep it was pretty pointless because i felt like it wouldnt work. Now im running on 2-4 hours of sleep and a cup of coffee at school trying to do my work."

Hydromet (homatropine / hydrocodone) "Take exactly the right amount. If you sip it from the bottle there’s no way you can get the correct dosage. I had some horrible nightmares that if I could re-draw I know I could make a great horror movie effect. I told my wife that now I think I know what demons look like."

"This medicine is very effective. It not only suppressed my cough, but was a very effective expectorant. It loosened up my very tight feeling chest - an outcome the other OTC medications failed to provide. One caution: I took a dose when I got up one morning, on an empty stomach, and then went out to do an hours worth of yard work. Came in and had a big glass of cold grape juice. Within 10 minutes I vomited the whole lot out. Felt better after a bit, though."

Hycodan (homatropine / hydrocodone) "For years I have a chronic cough as well as some form of arthritis, which denied me a good night of sleep. Lately I have been taking a teaspoon of hycodan syrup along with 2 advil tablets, before going to bed, and got a restful night of sleep and woke up without pain."
