"I tried to take beyaz again which was the only birthcontrol I liked ever. My insurance refuses to cover it, so I figured a yaz generic would be similiar enough. I FIRMLY BELIEVE WHATS IN THIS GENERIC IS NOT AT ALL THE SAME AS THE ORIGINAL. How could the same exact medicine affect me so negatively. I took this for two weeks and felt like I was physically having a panic attack all the time. I got this to help me during my hardest time of period. (right before I get it) and spent these past two weeks losing my mind. I do not even believe the positive reviews on this site are legitimate. I was tired, hungry, nauseous and unable to do my daily tasks. No sex drive. I tried taking it at night to combat these negative things. No escape. Don't take it"

"Okay, so I’m here for all the people who are terrified and see all these bad reviews, keep in mind, people are more likely to share bad experiences, so just remember there are good ones too! I used to take Gianvi, and then it sadly was discontinued. CVS started giving me Nikki. it was AWFUL. so the pharmacist looked up other generics of Yaz, and he ordered me Loryna. I figured I’d give it a go. It helps me a LOT, I used to have awful cramps, nausea, and migraines before my period. I also would have awful mood swings and would lash out at my husband. I haven’t had that at all with Loryna! I also skip the placebos because my periods are so rough, and that makes my life so much easier. If you’re scared and see all these reviews, just remember, everyone’s different! Give it a try, and if it doesn’t work, it’ll be okay! just let ur ob-gyn or pharmacist know."

"Loryna has helped my PMDD somewhat. I also have cut meat mostly and am very active and limit drinking. My issues with this are breast pain, constant bloat. I thought I had a sensitive gut before but have issues where my pants sometimes don’t fit by the evening. I drink tons of water and limit inflammatory foods but it still doesn’t help. I bleed randomly. Right now I have 5 pills left before the white pills and am bleeding. I spotted for a week before that. This happens without rhyme or reason. My skin looks good but to be honest, I take good care of it. I am sure it’s contributing but habits are, too. The headaches I get on this medication are terrifying and sometimes last three days. I felt so validated finding this forum because I thought something was really wrong. My libido is significantly lower and it’s difficult to achieve arousal. I never had an issue with that before. The worst: my blood pressure is now elevated. I just asked my dr about an alternate treatment."

"I recently started taking birth control for my PMDD and this is my second pack (Gianvi with my 1st, Loryna for the 2nd). I'm also diagnosed with GAD (Generalized Anxiety Disorder) with Panic Disorder and depressive symptoms. When I was taking Gianvi, I had no anxiety, mood swings, a short period that lasted 4 days (it used to be 7-9), and my relationship around people, especially my boyfriend, is stable. It's only been my third week of using Loryna, and my anxiety and depression is back, I break out easily, I've been feeling this terrible ache in my lower abdomen, and I've been constantly arguing with my boyfriend. I'm definitely calling my doctor to change prescriptions!!!"

"I started Loryna for PMDD. Started on a Sunday. By Tuesday I had 3 enormous, painful zits. By Thursday I was in severe abdominal cramping pain. Similar to period/early labor pains. By Saturday they landed me in the ER. Every lab test and ultrasound/xray was normal so the only diagnoses that made sense was the pill. I'm currently on day 9 of my period which would normally only last 5-6 days. Needless to say, it's in the trash now."

"After two months my daughter is having a severe adverse reaction. She has had CT, MRI and now being treated by a cardiologist for long term monitoring due to her risk of blood clotting and heart/stroke related symptoms. This is a very dangerous drug - and for what? Acne and PMDD? Please research before taking. Stop immediately with ANY adverse side effects."

"Just got on this pill, most people said they felt super sick almost immediately (I’ve felt sick right away on other BC’s) and I’m fine. Appetite is the same, slight headache the first night but nothing I couldn’t deal with. I’m hoping this pill works for me but I have good feelings about it. Will update later."

"I was prescribed this medication for severe PMDD and severe dysmenorrhea. I have only been on this medication for 2 weeks so far and I have not had any noticeable (I also take citalopram 10-20 mg QD) side effects either other than a bit more frequent urination. I have naturally clear skin, but it seems to almost have a glow to it now though honestly. I did have about 4 days of mild spotting/bleeding initially, but no cramping really and that has stopped. I have mood swings, but I have those off of the birth control, so they haven't gotten any worse or better. I tried to stop the citalopram to see what Loryna would do on its own and I had HORRIBLE withdrawal side effects. I don't advise anybody to cold turkey stop that medication while also on a hormonal birth control or period. I rated Loryna an 8 because I don't know how I will feel 2 more months down the road. I have a history of truly bad mental health side effects from hormonal birth control. Will update then."

"I'm on day 5 of Loryna and I am so suicidal I considered going to the hospital. I was trying it for PMDD, I did have success before on Lo Loestrin FE but I was having side effects of melasma and low libido so I wanted to try something else. This is awful. I've also had nightmares and nausea since starting it."

"My daughter has been on this for almost three months. Her mood swings are so out of control. Her period is out of sync. She has migraines and stomach issues constantly. Overall she is miserable. Definitely getting off of this for sure. Going to see the OBGYN soon."

"Was given this in addition to Celexa to help with PMDD and general anxiety disorder. Was taking Jolessa for the past year and it made my anxiety/pmdd extremely worse. On the second month of Loryna and am absolutely in love with this pill. In combo with my anxiety meds it has taken away all bloat, my weight has started to decrease (gained 20 pounds on Jolessa) and my energy has returned. First period on Loryna was only 2 1/2 days with zero cramping. No acne. My anxiety and pmdd is still there but instead of 2 weeks of nightmare I had maybe 2 really bad days."

"I started Loryna when I was bleeding extremely heavy for about 4 months. The minute I started it the bleeding stopped and I was happy of course but a couple days in I was feeling depressed and easily agitated off and on. I stopped taking it after 3 months and felt back to my normal self again. Now I started taking it again because I still had refills and the bleeding started up again. This time I feel much worse than I did before. Depressed and agitated ALL THE TIME!!! I also cry for nothing!! This has been a really horrible experience."

"I’ve been taking this for over a month and I feel miserable. I will say it has helped with my acne and it helped during that two week period before my cycle where my PMDD really kicked in, but now starting this second pack of pills I feel like a worthless monster. All I want to do is lay around, my house is a disaster. I don’t want to spend time with my family and my sex drive is a -10. I have generalized anxiety and depression which I take medication for and I’ve never felt lower in my life than when I started taking this. It helps the PMDD and acne but it is not worth losing all my joy."

"I was prescribed this for my SEVERE PMDD. Initially I had several days of break through bleeding, once that stopped my skin slowly starting becoming TERRIBLE. My once perfectly clear skin now has black heads all over my chin, my pores were starting to look bigger and just greasy, and now my chin has zits all over it, some under the skin. My forehead started breaking out too. I also developed restless leg syndrome, my stomach bloat is insane, and the closer I got to the placebo pills I felt constantly angry and ready to snap on everybody. It was starting to severely affect my moods and relationship. I also would feel very nauseated and just ill if I waited too long between meals, almost like when I was pregnant. I stopped after the first pack and its now in the garbage. Would not recommend to anybody. It was free under my insurance, literally the ONLY positive."

"I took the Loryna birth control for approximately 3 months. I stopped taking it because of my insurance being terminated due to job loss. Here's my 3-month journey with Loryna birth control pill: On the first month taking this medication, I experienced a very, very painful, clotty, and heavy, long-lasting period. It lasted 2 days longer than my usual flow, totally 7 days (I normally bled for 5). During this time frame, I experienced severe PMDD symptoms. Despite that, I still continue to keep taking it. On my second month experience, it was a whole lot simpler and my period was regular again. Also, my PMDD symptoms were not as severe. I still had some sorrow and weeping, but no anger or fear. By the third month, I realized I wasn't suffering from proctalgia fugax symptoms at all (most likely due to the birth control preventing ovulation). It's been almost a month now of being birth control-free and I really don't miss ovulating. I never experience any prolonged bleeding. I rate this as 8."
