"Please be careful with this drug -- it is incredibly easy to abuse/get addicted to. However, chronic fatigue (CFS) has next to no treatments/cures, so my doctor started me on Adderall (instant release, 20mg) 2 years ago. (Note: I have never increased my dose and probably never will.) CFS can make you feel like you're useless because you're so tired you feel useless to society. You feel like your life slips away from you slowly, and you start to blame yourself and become depressed because of it. Adderall helps me to live and actually enjoy my life. I think we all deserve that much. Side effects for me are mild but: slight social awkwardness, decreased appetite, unstable blood sugar, fast heartbeat, some anxiety, dry eyes. Still worth it for me."

"I have dealt with depression, on and off, for most of my life. I have depression that is heavily marked by fatigue and is very resistant to SSRIs. In fact, SSRIs have never done anything at all for me. Upon switching to an every other day dose of 30mg/day of Dextroamphetamine, I found the depression subsided immediately. I was no longer fatigued at all. Of course, I have more energy on the days I take the medication, but I don't feel overly tired at all on the other days either. On this medication, I am able to think clearly and deal with the normal stresses of life. I do not recommend eating before, or for several hours after, taking this. I would highly recommend it for anyone who has little to no success with SSRIs or a lot of fatigue."

"I have been through about all anti-depressants, mood stabilizers, and anti-psychotics for my severe treatment-resistant depression and this medicineamphetamine/dextroamphetamine has saved me. Honestly, I have horrible anxiety as well. I have Chronic PTSD and Generalized Anxiety Disorder. This medicine calms my nerves as well. I can actually take naps during the day now when I need to instead of not being able to rest. It helps my impulsiveness from my Bipolar Disorder that is included in my Schizoaffective diagnosis. I may have to deal with the hallucinations but this medicine is the only medicine that works for me in the most positive way. For me, it has way less severe side effects than any medicine I have tried. It mainly helps with my energy levels which helps my depression because I feel more useful I also am more social which helps my confidence. The only thing I struggle with is the lack of appetite and it seems like water goes right through me. But, It is definitely a life saver for me. <3"

Adderall (amphetamine / dextroamphetamine) "I just started Adderal 20mg about a week now. Before I was on 10 mg, not extended release, just tabs for (2) months. I'm always so tired. The higher dose helps me stay awake and function through my days. Glad something works, so far no side effects noted."

"I just tried Alvogen brand of amphetamine/dextroamphetamine this month because my pharmacy. It is absolutely awful. I feel like my body is screaming, absolutely doesn’t help with energy or attention. Just increases anxiety. And I’m extremely lethargic. I strongly recommend against them."

"I could cry with joy! I used to sleep all day, with crippling physical/mental fatigue. After 7 years of being ignored by MDs, I found a pdoc who takes me seriously. Prescribed Modafinil but insurance wouldn't p. auth. Ritalin lost effect after ~2 days. Adderall IR made me so angry I screamed/swore at people (I never do that). Progressed from 10mg XR in am to 30(currently). Kicks in after ~1 hour & keeps me awake/alert til evening. Also struggle with severe MDD & body dysmorphia & adderall gives me some hope & makes me hate the girl in the mirror less. Only side effects: slightly raised heart beat & loss of appetite. No trouble falling asleep. Please consider XR if you struggle with fatigue/MDD & your pdoc thinks it's a good idea."

"I am a 41 year old female, as a child and teenager I was always high strung, but managed to get good grades in school. I had my first child at 18 after my child was born my energy was cut in half and did have quite a bit of depression. Four children later my youngest started noticing short term memory loss even for easy tasks, along with severe lack of energy. I have been taking Adderall for 2 years now, my family noticed a great improvement in my ability to organize, take care of the house and my attitude was more positive. If you take your medicines as prescribed the medicine is wonderful. It changed my life for the better. "

"Used to treat both my extreme fatigue and my treatment-resistant bipolar depression, this medicine has changed my life. Without it, my other meds in my cocktail made it impossible for me to do much besides sleep all day, made my concentration nonexistant during manic and mixed states, and my depressions were darker and longer-lasting. I was also unable to work. With my other medications, I now lead a normal life, can read, write, and otherwise concentrate on whatever I need or want to do, don't stay in bed all day, have energy, rarely am depressed, and contrary to some doctor's lectures, using this medication has not caused manic or mixed states. Indeed, I have not experienced a single manic, mixed, or hypomanic state in years."

"I am s 36 yr women that has had M.S. for 15 years. I had back pain severely, and part of the problem was fatigue and I was very heavy. My neurologist put me on Adderall 3 years ago and I must say that the weight came off. I started feeling better physically and emotionally! I feel like a productive member of society when I take my medicines. So I guess I needed it for not just the weight loss, but for depression also. If anybody with M.S. that has severe fatigue and weight gain, I suggest this medicine to you. It's a proven fact that people with Neurological disorders should be on this medicine if you don't have high blood pressure! Try it, it works!"

Adderall (amphetamine / dextroamphetamine) "I am 24, I have been on Adderall for 8 months. For tiredness, lack of motivation, introversion. It definitely helps in all of those. I enjoy being around people, I have the want to do projects & have initiative at work. Does really give me energy, just the want to not sleep and waste I could be spending doing something productive. However the side effects: grinding my teeth. Some of the ones give me horrible dry mouth. Significant weight loss, people keep telling me I look skeleton like. But the worst? Terrible mood swings. I just flip out. Completely irrationally. Horrid anxiety. I need to get off it, but I am afraid of loosing my job."

"This drug has absolutely saved my life. I have been diagnosed with severe CFS and depression approximately 14 years ago. In 2015, I had my thyroid removed due to cancer, so I am on artificial thyroid. I could have slept for 20 hours a day and it wouldn't have been enough. I tend not to take it on weekends, as I don't need to be as "awake" as when I'm at work. I typically end up sleeping 12-14 hours straight on the days I don't take it. I would not be able to work full-time without Adderall. I have taken 30 mg for several years now and it has worked well for me; I have a hunch that it's because I don't generally take it on weekends, so my body gets that "mini detox" from it every week. Really. This drug has saved my life. I can function again!"

"Iv been taking Adderall for 5 years. In the beginning it was AMAZING!!! Pulled me right out of my "funks" which would keep me in bed for days, it helped me focus on EVERYTHING and basically be super human and feel great about myself. 5 years later it still pulls me out of bed, forces me to do all the things I need to do and makes me feel accomplished. But that's about it. I am emotionless other wise. My immune system is horrible. My body aches constantly because I'm ALWAYS so dehydrated and never let my body rest enough, which has led to use of pain meds...and that combination takes quite a toll. Sometimes i struggle to remember the last time I laughed without reminding myself to. But going back to the way I was before isn't much better..."

"I suffered from depression for 15 years, but was able to handle it until I began having severe health problems. I've had 18 surgeries (over half were major); most resulted in complications. My longest hospitalization lasted almost a year; September 08 - July 09. I've had 3 more surgeries, the latest was in May, 2013. Since July 09 I've been severely depressed with no energy & no desire to leave the house. I was put on Adderall (40mg at 10am, 20mg at 2pm). Now, I feel like my OLD self again! My ONLY side effect is insomnia. Often, I don't sleep at all & I get bored when everyone else is sleeping. The next day, I don't feel tired & I function normally, but my Dr. tried to lower my dose. It didn't help. This dose works for me & it's worth it!"

"DR started me out on 10mg XR for MS fatigue, which is very much like ADD but a different cause. 10 worked okay at first. Went to 25 XR heart raced badly by the time the extended kicked in. Settled on 20 and the results so far are good. Take first thing in morning. I'm able to function basically all day. Sleeping is a bit of an issue some days but not all. It's not a miracle drug for me but it's close. I'm able to play golf play with my kids and do all my errands which I never had the energy to do. My only concern is tolerance build up but I do NOT take every day. Only as needed which for me is about every other day. I am 47 male. Does not mess w my libido. I'm as interested as ever."

"I have struggled with Bulimia for 12 yrs, tried many different meds and nothing worked. Most of the antidepressants just made it worse. I decided to take matters into my own hands and did some research. I discovered that some Dr.'s had prescribed Adderall and had success. It took me months of pleading with my Dr and showing him info before he finally agreed to let me try Adderall. He prescribed me a low dose of 10mg and changed my life forever!!! I had completely forgotten what it was like to lead a normal life! 10 months later I am still B/P free and loving myself again! Soon I'll switch to 5mg as I feel I've been able to reset my eating habits! Adderall saved my life!!!!"

"Found that the medication (Adderall) has improved my ability to collect, process, and retrieve information from memory via hippocampus/PFC too. Less prone to act out, finding myself, actually, more polite. Less distracted, more empathetic, and tend to weigh long term & short term goals and the risk vs. benefit that comes along with such decision making. It is a superb med for improving one's executive functions within the brain. The medicine affects both CNS & PNS; thus, the medicine needs be used with caution and, in some cases, infrequently as not to burn out one's D2 among other receptor sites. It works for me."

"I started taking Adderall in July 2015. I lost my job in 2011 because of fatigue. End of 2011 to July 2015 I was pretty much sleeping anywhere from 18 to 22 hours a day. For me, this drug was a miracle. It sounds like most of the comments here are like me. All of you should look into chronic fatigue and adrenal fatigue. Not sure it's going to help but you might gain a lot of useful information. Hang tough! ❤"

"I learned early in my college career that Adderall allowed me to be more productive during my day without the feeling of full blown crashing. I do not struggle with paying attention or ADD/ADHD but I did struggle with extreme laziness/fatigue on a regular basis when I reach college age. Prior to that I never had an issue with motivation or sleepy feeling per say but one day it hit me like a brick and was unable to shake it. Which led me to lying to my doctor about having attention issues to obtain a prescription. It also was some what of a antidepressant at the same time. I have never struggled with depression but I did always seem to see the brighter side of things while on the medication."

"These stimulants are very useful for depression in my case. I feel motivated to tackle life with all of the strength I can fearlessly muster....that is until the effect diminish after only 5 hours. XR = 8-12 hours? No way. Even cutting back on acidic foods which supposedly inhibit the absorption of the drug, and eating tons of vegetables and protein while staying completely hydrated doesn't extend the effectiveness of the drug. So typically right after lunch time, I feel like curling up into a ball in a dark corner and crying about how much of a failure I am. Yeah, really useful when most of my work takes place in the PM. Even just taking another pill right before the comedown doesn't help. Well, the right drug will reveal itself in time."

"I started on provigil for my excessive fatigue, after my GP did virtually every blood test known, looking for a cause. It seemed to be helping me, for which I was exceedingly grateful but then got bad mouth sores so had to stop. I was switched to adderall, 10 mg twice a day. It's like 2 different pills. The morning gives me energy until about 1 p.m. The pill at lunch seems most days, to have no effect. I sit around and read and nap most of the afternoon, and am ready to sleep by 9. I have sleep apnea and use a CPAP machine religiously. Does the drug need to reach a certain level in the blood to be most effective?"

"I was diagnosed with fibromyalgia about a year ago but the onset of symptoms began years ago (in particular, the chronic fatigue). Before I even saw a doctor the fatigue got so bad that all I was doing was working & sleeping. But it must have been a year & half ago that the most intense fatigue I’d ever experienced began. When it hits me, it’s hard to keep my vision from blurring or doubling. The exhaustion is so bad it’s actually painful! And it began happening more & more. Just about 3 or 4 months ago the doctor prescribed me this med. First a very low dose but then higher until it was right. I only take it if I get the painful fatigue that causes blurred vision and IF I am working. I don’t like the after effect (anxiety, irritability, headache); but it definitely helps me get thru those episodes of intense fatigue!"

"I was started on addaroll in 2002, while in a rehabilitation center for teenagers. I didn't know what ADD was , I knew I couldn't concentrate but never seemed I had a disorder. When I started taking, I realized I could focus easier. I went on to graduate high school. I'm 29 years old now, I'm still prescribed, however the pills dont do much since I've been taking the highest dose for several years every day. Without iim so tired, literally fall asleep sitting up. I've realized how addictive these are, they are becoming harder to fill in certain areas because more n more people are getting prescriptions, I myself was the only person i knew of prescribed in small town indiana, years ago, now my entire home town is on this medicine."

"I was first on Ritilan for about a month an a half which wasn't making any difference, and that's when my doc decided to put me on Adderall instead. I feel stablized mentally, but the side effects are killing me at this point. I have slow speech (to the point noticed by others), confusion, dry mouth, and blurry vision to the point where I am starting to worry about driving at night. I am confused at this point as to if the mental benefits are better than the side effects. I will of course talk to my doc, and urge you to do the same."

"30mg N Amphet Salts. Unsure of the manufacturer. All I know is it is giving me headaches, nausea and major constipation. I highly recommend a probiotic and definitely not a cheap one. I've been taking regular Adderall for many years or at least I thought. The big pharmacy I go to in Southeast Michigan always gives me the name brand regardless of if I was using my primary or secondary insurance plan yet at other stores there are these off brands and Amphetamine Salts. Part of me wants to turn a blind eye and the other wants to find out why some people have real and others generic."

"I have obstructive sleep apnea, hypothyroidism, excessive daytime sleepiness, low iron. My fatigue interferes daily in most areas of my life. Frustrated because I have tried Provigil, Ritalin, Nuvigil (currently on) and Adderall IR and XR with minimal results in feeling less tired. I'm on Adderall XR 40mg and Nuvigil 250 daily with literally no effects. I take my Adderall and go back to sleep for hours. I believe that the Adderall is making me have a high resting heart rate which freaks me out. Days I do not take the Adderall I can sleep the entire day. My memory and cognitive functioning is impaired which makes no sense to me. Barry worked in beg. I am trying to think of what else could be interfering with the medication working. I am on other medications, but I feel as if I should at least notice it working. I eat normally with my regular appetite. It just sucks that I am on this medication and Nuvigil, when clearly not helping."
