This drug should be used during pregnancy only if clearly needed.

US FDA pregnancy category: B

Animal studies have failed to reveal evidence of fetal harm and teratogenicity. There are no controlled data in human pregnancy.

US FDA pregnancy category B: Animal reproduction studies have failed to demonstrate a risk to the fetus and there are no adequate and well-controlled studies in pregnant women.

Comments:
-Cetirizine, the racemic form of this drug, has been reported to be excreted into human breast milk and thus it is expected that levocetirizine may be excreted in breast milk.
-Larger doses or prolonged use of this drug may cause drowsiness and other effects in the nursing infant or possibly decrease the milk supply, particularly if used in combination with a sympathomimetic (e.g., pseudoephedrine) or before lactation is well established.
