For Prevention of Osteoporosis "I had my first infusion of Reclast on a Wednesday afternoon. By 3 AM Thursday morning I had fever, chills and extreme body aches. Nauseated and a headache. Pretty extreme, took Tylenol got a little relief. The next 24-48 hrs. has been pretty terrible, still slowly recovering. Will not do this infusion ever again. I was told by the nurses well you might feel a little achy that wasn’t even close to how bad I felt."

For Osteoporosis "Follow up on initial reclast first taken 3/ 2022. I was never informed of any prep to do beforehand, I suffered violent severe side effects for 8 days immediately after the reclast infusion I was so ill I was unable to call 911 and get myself to a hospital. I was completely incapacitated with severe bone pain, rolling head-to-toe cramps, extreme flu-like symptoms, chills, fevers, and a blinding headache that lasted for 8 days. Now one year after I am still experiencing severe and extreme bone pain that many times causes me to be unable to lift my arms and has impacted my quality of life. Additionally, I suffered another compression fracture with zero exertion in June of 2022. I also require several implants and refuse to potentially destroy my jaw. Reclast side effects outweigh any possible benefits. I will be 57 yrs old this year, and prior to 2022 had no knowledge I had osteoporosis. I pray I have no further issues!"

For Osteoporosis "Had my first infusion Nov 15,2019. I started getting the flu like symptoms about 8 hours later. Thought I was the end of me. I shook for 2 days with chills. Couldn’t pick my arm up to get the Tylenol off my nightstand, 5 hours later I finally got them and every blanket I owned. It hurt so much. Then started with throw up and diarrhea. It’s been 4 days and I’m still in bed beyond tired. Not sure how to rate the medicine cuz it hasn’t started to work yet. But the side effects are really bad. Make sure you have lots of water..Gatorade and Tylenol or pain meds..you’ll need them"

For Osteoporosis "I am 72, and my last DEXA scan showed that my bone density was now osteoporosis. My choices were Reclast or Prolia. I had taken Actonel and Fosamax for a number of years and was taken off of Fosamax due to acid reflux. I hadn't had any osteoporosis medication for the past four years. After discussing this with my doctor, I decided to try Reclast first. I was mostly concerned with side effects reported from each drug, so I was anxious about getting the treatment. I read the reviews and followed the advice from others about drinking plenty of water to stay hydrated and taking Tylenol. The nurse who administered my medication said that she had been giving this med for years now, and very few patients had reported any problems, and most of those were muscle pain that lasted a few days. I am happy to report that I have had no side effects from Reclast. I will find out in a year if my bone density improves, but do not be afraid of this med if you need to take it."

For Osteoporosis "My first IV treatment was given on a Friday morning. By that night, I was running a fever of 103. I had 4 heavy blankets piled on me. I took Tylenol and Ibuprofen, but nothing brought my fever down below 101. I was shaking to my bones. Then, I started feeling pain in every bone of my body. The pain was worst in my back and shoulders. Even on my fourth day, my shoulders and back are still very painful. All I was told about Reclast was to drink a lot of water and take Tylenol as needed. I even told my husband that he might have to bring me to the emergency room because I was deathly ill. I wish I would have read these comments before I was given this therapy. I felt like every bone in my body was being attacked by this drug. Thankfully, I'm done for a year."

For Osteoporosis "I took Reclast injections for 4 years. My Doctor was unaware that Reclast could potentially cause jaw bone issues. Well, my dentist in taking xrays found I had jaw osteoporosis as a result of taking Reclast injections. I took the injections because my family physician thought this would help me from going into osteoporosis. Instead it took calcium from my jaw and put it in my other bones. Please know that while Reclast which is a zoledronic acid is a product of the bisphosphonate group. I am happy for those who benefited from the drug Reclast but my experience didn't hasn't worked out."

For Prevention of Osteoporosis "I had the infusion early Friday afternoon. Within 3 hours, I had a very intense headache. By midnight, the headache was unbearable, and I also experienced deep pain, chills, dizziness, and chest pain that felt like a cement block between the ribs. On Saturday, all these issues persisted, along with a fever. On Sunday, I still had the same symptoms and also developed numbness in my legs, feet, arms, and hands. I also noticed loads of small, tiny spots on my palms and fingers. On Monday and Tuesday, the symptoms persisted, and I was unable to get out of bed. Concerned about all these issues, I called my doctor, who prescribed a 6-day cycle of steroids to try to flush out the medication. While I am aware that no one can predict how a body will react to any medication, simply saying that you may feel flu-like symptoms understates what I have been going through. I have never regretted a medical decision more than this one! Please research and know that this has caused havoc on my body, and who knows if I'll ever be the same again."

For Osteoporosis "I can't speak to its effectiveness as I had it infused only about 4 weeks ago, but the side effects mostly went away in about 1 week. What is left, is skin irritations, general tightness of my body and extra sweating. All seem to be going away soon. If it works, I will take it again."

For Prevention of Osteoporosis "I would never recommend Reclast. I do not believe there is enough transparency in all the things that can go wrong. I was not advised to hydrate at anytime before the procedure and was in the ER the day after. It has been over 3 months and I still suffer from significant bone pain throughout my body. My quality of life has been diminished."

For Osteoporosis "On 12/6/22, I received my first (and only) Zoledronic Acid Injection (Reclast) to prevent osteoporosis from coming back (currently osteopenia) after taking Prolia shots for 2 1/2 years. I don't know whether or not Reclast injection worked to prevent osteoporosis yet, because I'm not scheduled for a bone density test until June. What I do know is that I have been in chronic pain every day since that day! There was literally ZERO warning from my rheumatologist about potential side effects or things that it could possibly trigger. And, I foolishly did not research it myself. Within 6 days of the injection, I was limping and in intense pain. They had me come in the next day. Long, story short, it is their belief that the Reclast triggered Psoriatic Arthritis that was already in my body (never had it before, but I did have mild psoriasis. I've have 2 BAD flares since the original flare, been in PT, on multiple medicines. In pain every day of my life. NEVER AGAIN will I have Reclast!"

For Osteoporosis "I had the Reclast infusion. Not one side effect. Day before and day of and some the day after the infusion, I took Tylenol extra strength every 8 hours and drank lots of water. I believe this is the key to no side effects."

For Prevention of Osteoporosis "I had a reclast IV done on March 8, 2023, at 1:30 pm and was told to take two Tylenol and drink lots of water that will reduce the flu-like symptoms. I was fine all day when about 10 30 pm comes around and I got really light-headed so I went to my room and laid down. My right shoulder started hurting thought nothing of it. When 12 am came around I was in excruciating pain and when I say pain it's an understatement, it felt like every bone in my body was broken. From top to bottom arms, ribs, legs, hips, knees, head, everything. Flu-like symptoms are an understatement. I will not recommend for anyone to take this I know I will not."

For Osteoporosis "I had the Reclast infusion on Thursday and first my vein collapsed and fluid built under my skin. Perhaps a poor choice of veins. I am 68. My arm hurt the rest of that day of course. Then the next two days I have had the "flu" like symptoms. (Fever, muscle aches and pains, weakness). I am HOPING this subsides soon. I have things to do, places to go, people to see. Ha The jury is out as to whether or not I would take it again."

For Osteoporosis "I recently turned 67 and had my second annual dose of Reclast five days ago. After the first infusion in 2022, I developed body aches and night chills for perhaps up to one week. My second infusion experience has been quite worse, although I read that it's uncommon to feel side effects after the second infusion. My symptoms began the evening of day 2, with mild head and neck achiness. By nighttime, I had severe flu-like chills and more severe aching radiating to my arms and shoulders. Day 3, aching in legs, calves, big toes, areas where I have mild arthritis in my joints, milder night chills. Day 4, yesterday, extreme aching, now upper-mid back on both sides, radiating through my breastbone, actual spasms. Excruciating to roll over at night in bed. Today is day 5, and upper back pain and spasms are only on the left side but quite painful. Still spasming. I've been taking Extra Strength Tylenol, but it is not really helping. I decided to discontinue Reclast in the future."

For Osteoporosis "I have been reading the other comments about side effects that happen months later. I have been taking Reclast once a year since 2009, after my cancer treatments were over. I have never had any side effects or bad experiences with it. It's cool as heck to me. I will definitely continue to use it for as long as my oncologist seems it necessary."

For Prevention of Osteoporosis "I had a Reclast infusion November 2023. After reading reviews I drank a lot of water and took Tylenol leading up to the infusion, though I was never told to do this by anyone. I was very nervous about it, but thought maybe the bad reviews were by people who hadn’t hydrated and taken Tylenol. I thought if I did that, I would be okay. Wrong! I have never been so sick in my life. I felt like I did the first time I had Covid. Every bone in my body hurt, and I had the worst headache ever. My knees were so painful. I couldn’t walk for three days and had to use a cane for a few days after that. They were terribly swollen. The whole thing really scared my family. It is May 2023 and my knees are still bothering me. About a month ago, I felt and heard some popping behind my knee just from kind of twisting a bit to sit down at the table for dinner. I feel like my leg could just give out from under me. I’m wondering if it tore a ligament. I would never take the chance if I had it to do over."

For Osteoporosis "I WOULD NEVER TAKE THIS HORRIBLE DRUG RECLAST AGAIN! I experience severe itching which I was prescribed Cetirizine and Pepcid. But the worst part of this was I had just spent hundreds on my teeth with a new bridge/crown. A few months after the RECLAST my bridge came loose, when they removed it the teeth were broken off, flush with the gum, nothing to adhere it back to. Only a few months later the crown next to it started wiggling and it came and was also broken off at the gum. Counting the teeth that was replaced with the bridge, I have five teeth missing (the front tooth til the last tooth in the back. It could continue on with my front teeth, I'm praying it doesn't but time will tell. I would NEVER, EVER, take this HORRIBLE, DANGEROUS, drug EVER AGAIN. I am looking into a class action law suit ?? I found a lawyer that accepts this type claim but they have so many they can't accept anymore right now."

For Osteoporosis "I had an Reclast infusion last Thursday and felt fine the rest of the day. I was tired and went to bed waking up with severe nausea and bone pain which created anxiety on top of that. The pain was intense and I felt like a truck had been dropped on me. This is day 3 after the infusion and the pain has receded some. The doctor said take ibuprofen on Tylenol. That didn't do it for me. I took Tramadol to get some pain relief. My doctor said I only had to have it once every 3 years and that will be soon enough to decide if I want to do it again. Today I'm a little unhappy over how sick I was and reading other comments, I hope I don't residual effects."

For Prevention of Osteoporosis "Had the Reclast infusion on November 16, 2019. Seemed fine after the infusion but the next day woke up with every joint hurting. Couldn't hardly stay awake all day. Severe chills and then a 100.5 fever. Took Tylenol and alternated with Ibuprofen. Nauseated and no desire to eat. Had to force myself to drink. Day 3 started with rosy cheeks and still have them on day 4. Looks like a butterfly Lupus rash. Headache for about 24 hours. Neck is still a little sore but luckily the hips don't hurt as bad. Also had stomach pain and seem very bloated. I don't think I will do this again. Just hope no other symptoms come along as some of these posts talk about."

For Osteoporosis "I received a Reclast infusion 1/10/2019. Within 6 hours post infusion started to have elbow pain and within 12 hours post infusion pretty deep bone pain in sternum along with flu symptoms. Fevers spiked to 102 at times for over 48 hours. All joints were painful. Day 3 and 4 post infusion severe pain in ankles and feet - unable to get out of bed independently but once I was moving around, things got easier. While the side effects may sound bad (and they were at times) if this increases bone density then I have no problem sacrificing a week or two of side effects."
