"Had the infusion twice. The only side effect the 1st time was a slight headache. The 2nd time, no side effects at all. I highly recommend having this. Make sure you are well hydrate the day of the procedure."

"After being reassured by 2 physicians, one an MD, another Oncologists: that this option for infusion would offset any negative side effects for the benefit would receive. Couldn't have been more untrue in my case. After infusion bedridden for 3 days with limited movement due to extremely painful joints. Been 8 days now & I'm just now getting back on my feet but weak. Please get multiple opinions from all before considering this medication. Never again."

"I had my infusion on Friday. My doctor gave me Tylenol at that time and said take one twice a day for 3 days. On Sunday I woke up with some leg muscle pain. Took 2 Tylenol and an Aleve Later on in the morning. Felt fine all day and I resumed by gym workouts on Monday. This was a breeze."

"Had my first infusion Nov 15,2019. I started getting the flu like symptoms about 8 hours later. Thought I was the end of me. I shook for 2 days with chills. Couldn’t pick my arm up to get the Tylenol off my nightstand, 5 hours later I finally got them and every blanket I owned. It hurt so much. Then started with throw up and diarrhea. It’s been 4 days and I’m still in bed beyond tired. Not sure how to rate the medicine cuz it hasn’t started to work yet. But the side effects are really bad. Make sure you have lots of water..Gatorade and Tylenol or pain meds..you’ll need them"

"I am 72, and my last DEXA scan showed that my bone density was now osteoporosis. My choices were Reclast or Prolia. I had taken Actonel and Fosamax for a number of years and was taken off of Fosamax due to acid reflux. I hadn't had any osteoporosis medication for the past four years. After discussing this with my doctor, I decided to try Reclast first. I was mostly concerned with side effects reported from each drug, so I was anxious about getting the treatment. I read the reviews and followed the advice from others about drinking plenty of water to stay hydrated and taking Tylenol. The nurse who administered my medication said that she had been giving this med for years now, and very few patients had reported any problems, and most of those were muscle pain that lasted a few days. I am happy to report that I have had no side effects from Reclast. I will find out in a year if my bone density improves, but do not be afraid of this med if you need to take it."

"Follow up on initial reclast first taken 3/ 2022. I was never informed of any prep to do beforehand, I suffered violent severe side effects for 8 days immediately after the reclast infusion I was so ill I was unable to call 911 and get myself to a hospital. I was completely incapacitated with severe bone pain, rolling head-to-toe cramps, extreme flu-like symptoms, chills, fevers, and a blinding headache that lasted for 8 days. Now one year after I am still experiencing severe and extreme bone pain that many times causes me to be unable to lift my arms and has impacted my quality of life. Additionally, I suffered another compression fracture with zero exertion in June of 2022. I also require several implants and refuse to potentially destroy my jaw. Reclast side effects outweigh any possible benefits. I will be 57 yrs old this year, and prior to 2022 had no knowledge I had osteoporosis. I pray I have no further issues!"

"My first IV treatment was given on a Friday morning. By that night, I was running a fever of 103. I had 4 heavy blankets piled on me. I took Tylenol and Ibuprofen, but nothing brought my fever down below 101. I was shaking to my bones. Then, I started feeling pain in every bone of my body. The pain was worst in my back and shoulders. Even on my fourth day, my shoulders and back are still very painful. All I was told about Reclast was to drink a lot of water and take Tylenol as needed. I even told my husband that he might have to bring me to the emergency room because I was deathly ill. I wish I would have read these comments before I was given this therapy. I felt like every bone in my body was being attacked by this drug. Thankfully, I'm done for a year."

"I took Reclast injections for 4 years. My Doctor was unaware that Reclast could potentially cause jaw bone issues. Well, my dentist in taking xrays found I had jaw osteoporosis as a result of taking Reclast injections. I took the injections because my family physician thought this would help me from going into osteoporosis. Instead it took calcium from my jaw and put it in my other bones. Please know that while Reclast which is a zoledronic acid is a product of the bisphosphonate group. I am happy for those who benefited from the drug Reclast but my experience didn't hasn't worked out."

"I can't speak to its effectiveness as I had it infused only about 4 weeks ago, but the side effects mostly went away in about 1 week. What is left, is skin irritations, general tightness of my body and extra sweating. All seem to be going away soon. If it works, I will take it again."

"On 12/6/22, I received my first (and only) Zoledronic Acid Injection (Reclast) to prevent osteoporosis from coming back (currently osteopenia) after taking Prolia shots for 2 1/2 years. I don't know whether or not Reclast injection worked to prevent osteoporosis yet, because I'm not scheduled for a bone density test until June. What I do know is that I have been in chronic pain every day since that day! There was literally ZERO warning from my rheumatologist about potential side effects or things that it could possibly trigger. And, I foolishly did not research it myself. Within 6 days of the injection, I was limping and in intense pain. They had me come in the next day. Long, story short, it is their belief that the Reclast triggered Psoriatic Arthritis that was already in my body (never had it before, but I did have mild psoriasis. I've have 2 BAD flares since the original flare, been in PT, on multiple medicines. In pain every day of my life. NEVER AGAIN will I have Reclast!"

"I had the Reclast infusion. Not one side effect. Day before and day of and some the day after the infusion, I took Tylenol extra strength every 8 hours and drank lots of water. I believe this is the key to no side effects."

"I had the Reclast infusion on Thursday and first my vein collapsed and fluid built under my skin. Perhaps a poor choice of veins. I am 68. My arm hurt the rest of that day of course. Then the next two days I have had the "flu" like symptoms. (Fever, muscle aches and pains, weakness). I am HOPING this subsides soon. I have things to do, places to go, people to see. Ha The jury is out as to whether or not I would take it again."

"I recently turned 67 and had my second annual dose of Reclast five days ago. After the first infusion in 2022, I developed body aches and night chills for perhaps up to one week. My second infusion experience has been quite worse, although I read that it's uncommon to feel side effects after the second infusion. My symptoms began the evening of day 2, with mild head and neck achiness. By nighttime, I had severe flu-like chills and more severe aching radiating to my arms and shoulders. Day 3, aching in legs, calves, big toes, areas where I have mild arthritis in my joints, milder night chills. Day 4, yesterday, extreme aching, now upper-mid back on both sides, radiating through my breastbone, actual spasms. Excruciating to roll over at night in bed. Today is day 5, and upper back pain and spasms are only on the left side but quite painful. Still spasming. I've been taking Extra Strength Tylenol, but it is not really helping. I decided to discontinue Reclast in the future."

"Had my first Reclast IV on Thursday morning. After a couple of hours started hurting all over and feeling terrible. By evening started running a fever of 100 - 101, had chills, nausea, pain all over and couldn't get out of bed until Saturday evening. Took Tylenol every 4 hours. On Sunday still did not feel a lot better but fever was getting better. Hope this gets better really soon."

"I have been reading the other comments about side effects that happen months later. I have been taking Reclast once a year since 2009, after my cancer treatments were over. I have never had any side effects or bad experiences with it. It's cool as heck to me. I will definitely continue to use it for as long as my oncologist seems it necessary."

"I WOULD NEVER TAKE THIS HORRIBLE DRUG RECLAST AGAIN! I experience severe itching which I was prescribed Cetirizine and Pepcid. But the worst part of this was I had just spent hundreds on my teeth with a new bridge/crown. A few months after the RECLAST my bridge came loose, when they removed it the teeth were broken off, flush with the gum, nothing to adhere it back to. Only a few months later the crown next to it started wiggling and it came and was also broken off at the gum. Counting the teeth that was replaced with the bridge, I have five teeth missing (the front tooth til the last tooth in the back. It could continue on with my front teeth, I'm praying it doesn't but time will tell. I would NEVER, EVER, take this HORRIBLE, DANGEROUS, drug EVER AGAIN. I am looking into a class action law suit ?? I found a lawyer that accepts this type claim but they have so many they can't accept anymore right now."

"I had an Reclast infusion last Thursday and felt fine the rest of the day. I was tired and went to bed waking up with severe nausea and bone pain which created anxiety on top of that. The pain was intense and I felt like a truck had been dropped on me. This is day 3 after the infusion and the pain has receded some. The doctor said take ibuprofen on Tylenol. That didn't do it for me. I took Tramadol to get some pain relief. My doctor said I only had to have it once every 3 years and that will be soon enough to decide if I want to do it again. Today I'm a little unhappy over how sick I was and reading other comments, I hope I don't residual effects."

"Horrible experience. First infusion and after this terrible pain I'm not sure I would do this again. Extreme joint and muscle pain. This is my third day after treatment and the pain just moves from one place to another. I doubt that I would do this again. I want my life back."

"I received a Reclast infusion 1/10/2019. Within 6 hours post infusion started to have elbow pain and within 12 hours post infusion pretty deep bone pain in sternum along with flu symptoms. Fevers spiked to 102 at times for over 48 hours. All joints were painful. Day 3 and 4 post infusion severe pain in ankles and feet - unable to get out of bed independently but once I was moving around, things got easier. While the side effects may sound bad (and they were at times) if this increases bone density then I have no problem sacrificing a week or two of side effects."

"Reclast IV last week, and I had side effects of sore throat, chills, headache, fever, severe bone, joint and muscle pain, in bed for the past 8 days. I originally was going to cancel the IV after reading all the side effects but the nurse talked me into it. Never again! I can’t really rate the drug as it’s only been a week."

"I am 41 with Crohn's disease causing my lack of vitamin absorb. I had my monthly entyvio infusion and right after my first reclast infusion just yesterday. I was just fine until about 5 hours after when I started having diarrhea. It later turned into severe watery diarrhea shooting out into my Ostomy, chills, sweating, fever, aches, and weakness. I was told it may happen but was hoping not to me. If this helps me a few days of this is worth it and I will do it again. Like on Harry Potter "growing bones is a nasty business!" Lol"

"The WORST side effects - one week later still suffering from bone pain. The first night after IV - all side effects hit at once - fever, chills, nausea, dizziness, and the worst bone pain - it was even painful to take a deep breath or to yawn. I do not know how this passed FDA approval for humans. Totally unprepared for the horrendous side effects with no guarantee that it will be helpful for bone density. It was the worst experience and I would totally advise against taking this medication. If there was an option to give less than “1” I would do so."
