"I have been on sucralfate for two days. The first day was great, the second day I felt mediocre, but at night I had abdominal pains, a dry mouth, and a slight headache. I hope this starts working soon or I will have to stop taking it."

"I have extreme GERD. Very extreme up all night GERD. Burning, chest pain etc. But this medication after many pill failures seems to work. Only issue is it killed my taste buds and locked me up, so had to stop taking for a day or so. But I must say it's worked. I have the liquid version. And it's expensive for the bottle(s) 300 bucks. But glad I have ins."

"This medicine is amazing. I suffered from very severe stomach issues for three and a half years, and no medicines I was prescribed helped in the slightest. Finally, I tried sucralfate, and from Day 3 onward, it has basically been a miracle cure. All of my symptoms are gone. If I feel a few seconds of pain, I can physically feel it recede in moments as though it has been fought off, and even those pain flashes are rare. I feel like a different person - like I'm in a new body. I can eat and move again. I remember what it feels like to feel healthy and not in constant pain. 5 weeks in, and sucralfate has given me my life back."

"I have Ozempic-related hydrogen sulfide GI issues (the “eggy burps” and other nastiness, including chest pain so awful that it feels like a heart attack). An ER doc sent me home with sucralfate in oral suspension, which is pretty much a miracle drug. I only have to take it when I’m having acute symptoms, and it works in less than an hour. Grateful this drug exists!"

"It works very well for stomach pain and fairly well at getting rid of acid, but it must be taken apart from alot of other meds. Also can make it harder to poop. Over all I love the drug"

"Works well for GERD but I agree with the other posters about the choking hazard with the tablets! I will now dissolve in water as I have also read. I almost choked on one tonight!!"

Carafate (sucralfate) "I do not recommend it. It caused extreme constipation and bloating for me and provided little to no relief for epigastric burning compared to liquid antacids. It is expensive in liquid form."

"I have taken the tablets 4 times a day for years for GERD. I find it to be a great medicine. Unfortunately, my pharmacy couldn't get the tablets so I was given the liquid form. It caused me to have the worse diarrhea I ever had. I was afraid to leave the house and I had to stop it immediately. I am going back to the pills."
