"I am on risperidone for 2,5 years. It seems to be OK for its main purpose - I haven't had any hallucinations since I started it. However I be been leading a very balanced and calm life without any major stresses which seemed to be the main triggers of my psychoepisodes in the past. But! I've gained 25 pounds for two years and I have never been overweight in my life. Plus, over the time I developed a very disturbing hunger that never stops even after I eat lots. I feel full when my stomach is literally full and stretched. But after an hour I feel hungry again. In, addition to that stomach pains not too sure if its caused by excessive eating or a side effect on its own. Other minor side effects are muscle pains, nightmares and memory loss."

"My brother is on this medication, 8mg over 24 hours, he takes 5mg in the morning and 3mg at night. He has been taking risperidone for just over a year now, he was diagnosed with schizofernia January 2015, the doctors have prescribed different doses of this medication, however it is not effective as it first was, this dose was the highest he has been given compared to other doses throughout the year, he has become very depressed, cannot concentrate well, avoid any social interaction, has some delusions and he feels like he has no emotion and his brain is blank.. So in conclusion I think it's time that the doctor changes his medication, because it doesn't seem to be working well."

"I was hearing voices than I went in a hospital for nearly two weeks I was out on forced medication which they can not do anything to my body without me allowing it and when I was on it my jaw started locking open and way farther than it should go my jaw was sore for a couple days this reaction of my jaw extending lasted for what seemed like 30 min as I waited for the benzotropine or whatever it’s called, I was told it’s a allergy medicine. While my jaw was getting messed up my neck started stretching side to side as far as it could go and getting stuck there. After I was out the hospital I realized my neck pain came back from my car accident but a lot worse. The side of my neck began to hurt when I would breath the most and just living it hurt a lot. I recommend to say no to forced medication."

"It was good to calm me down at first, but stopped working within a month and I wake up during sleep many times from it. Your nose will get clogged heavily by this medication, so get a humidifier if you are planning to get on it."

"2mg very effective for psychotic symptoms - delusions and intrusive thoughts. Gained 40 pounds in 3 months. Came off, however, going back on. Hoping Metformin will reduce the weight gain. Would recommend."

"Had psychosis 2 months ago. Was started on Risperidone it helped resolve delusions within a few weeks. Also prescribed lithium simultaneously. Started noticing side effects after 7 weeks on both including mental uneasiness and restlessness. Dr said wean off both so went from 2 to 1 mg Risperidone. Had bad withdrawals from 1 to .5mg so holding for now."

Risperdal Consta (risperidone) "From the first day of the injection I've noticed I've been able to complete tasks that might have seemed so big in the past. I am feeling calm living in the present and not feeling worried anymore. I've been able to take the the time and get tasks done. It seems like this was the right choice of medicine."

"Was prescribed this for schizophrenia. It took away psychotic symptoms yes but had horrible side effects to begin with and I put on nearly 7 stone because of this drug. And I've had slurred, stuttered speech ever since taking it. I really want to come off this medication but fear becoming ill again for my family's sake. Been on it for nearly 3 years now. I'm on a fortnightly injection. I have also been given this drug in tablet form to treat anxiety before, didn't really do anything for me, felt no obvious change to feelings. Something like zolpidem (yes I'm aware it's sleeping medication) really makes me feel more relaxed and at ease, that's what I want out of anti anxiety medication. So anxiety wise I think it's pretty rubbish."

"On risperidone since one and half year. Was started on it because of my psychotic depression. I was having thoughts of becoming a monk. I feel good, my depression had gone after taking risperidone for about a few months. But my thoughts of renunciation aren’t going. My doctor currently prescribed me haloperidol which I haven't started yet. I home read somewhere that risperidone works better on negative symptoms more than positive symptoms. Now let's see how these symptoms improve after I start on haloperidol. Side effects - I was having loss of balance."

"I been taking risperidone for a long time and I say its great. This medication puts me to sleep for 6 hours then falling back a sleep at 2am to 5am. My doctor prescribe me this medication for bipolar and schizophrenia. She doesn't really answer my questions though. She suggest me to take this medication for life long to help my delusions and hallucinations. I sometimes feel like someone is grabbing my hand. Last time when I was in Hawaii I saw the most scariest looking thing I ever seen and hide under my bed. Then something flew in my hand that forced me to grab I couldn't see for my self of what it was not sure and it was gone about a 1min. Glad it never happened again cause I don't want creepy things happening to me. Guys eat healthy cause you know what the cost is."

"I had really low blood pressure with risperidone it also causes me to rock back and forth a lot.. It sure does shut me up though I get really paranoid someone wants to hurt me. I noticed it calms me down enough to go hide in the bathroom quietly without disturbing the neighbors. I block the door with my refrigerator and watch these cool movies on YOUTUBE"

"Well my experience with Risperidone has not been quite great in fact its made life lifeless. I can't really feel my emotions right. My drive for doing basic things like taking care of my self is gone and so its my sex drive. I am having a lot of trouble concentrating and thinking with this crazy mind fog that won't go away. I have to pee all the time now, and my #2 work is always so hard now. It is either most of the time constipation, or sometimes runny explosion, never just normal stools anymore. When I eat I sometimes feel like chocking so when that happens I have to swallow another way. My vision is getting so blurry as well. I don't like going out and I don't like phones now to. Talking to people became really hard too. A lot of the time I try to think of anything it all comes out foggy or I simply can't think a single thing, before I never had this problem. I know this is used for some people who might actually need it. but I was misdiagnosed I think personally. I had a "Minor Manic Episode" stress induced"

Risperdal (risperidone) "I have taken Risperidone at least 8 years for Schizophrenia. When I first started taking it, I noticed it made my symptoms a lot better. However it wasn't a cure-all and I still heard the voices, but in a more muffled manner. The visions and visual hallucinations like lazers floating in the air went away, too. It also seemed like despite being on Risperidone or any other antipsychotic that my symptoms were dependent on my external behavior. As far as side effects go, I drool pretty badly at night. It also kind of made me look at things as being pointless. It's hard to know whether it's my Schizophrenia or Risperidone that is causing me problems, I've been on it so long. Overall, it was great for taking away the hallucinations, it just kind of made me a shell of my former self(or was that the Schizophrenia), who knows."

"Definitely contributed to stopping an ongoing psychosis in my case. So that is good. However the doses have a significant sedative effect that can easily change your life. Potentially the appetite increase that lasts for the first month can also cause some problems with weight gain. The worst was the drug did contribute to temporary sterilization (zero secretion of absolutely anything during orgasm apparently as a result of the effect on my prolactin levels, this lasted until I switched meds)"

"I started this drug 3 years ago for my paranoia and anger issues. Overall it's good except for the weight gain. I started at 125lb and I am 145lb. I take 1mg because taking 2mg made me really tired but going down on the dose works best in combination with Lamictal and Prozac. I've tried other medicines but these work well together."

Risperdal Consta (risperidone) "This anti-psychotic is a lot better than the original Risperdal. It has less side effects. I have been on this for 6 months and it has eliminated the voices and paranoia."

Risperdal (risperidone) "This makes you restless after long term use. Good at controlling symptoms if you be patient with it. Ask your Dr to reduce dosage if you feel better after 3 years. Good Luck"

Risperdal (risperidone) "No relief of voices. I rarely have visual hallucinations anyway. Very bad menstrual irregularity and some dry mouth. Had to quit taking it."

"I was taking this for 1 year! this drug does miracles!!!! I started with injection 50 mg every 15 days Now I take only 7mg!! I can lift weights again!!!!No depression or anxiety!!! Or paranoia!!!!"
