"Female , early 40s, GERD started mid 30s. But Meh, no negative side effects but I try to get by on pepcid until I have a bad flair and then go the PPI route for a bit in case there's some mild gastritis too...overall probably works better than nothing but it doesn't take away chest pressure or that stuck feeling in the throat ( I typically don't get the burn) . I mean even on this medication you cannot eat whatever you want. Drs seem to love this drug as option, as I've asked for anything that actually works and they say all PPIs work the same so...bottom line, don't expect a miracle at all- PPIs work great the first time you take them, then IMO become much less effective. I do imagine it probably helps calm down gastritis/ulcers better than it helps GERD."

"I am on 40mg of Prilosec for GERD and I have zero heartburn 24 hours a day 7 days a week. Do not forget to take a dose or else the fire monster comes up your throat."

"This stuff works great with no side effects. I had my gallbladder removed and was suffering from GERD. My doctor prescribed me this. Now I can eat whatever I want with no heartburn."

"After taking Omeprazole for several months I developed an almost complete loss of taste. It had been prescribed by an ENT specialist. When I reported this development to my primary care doctor she told me that she had three patients told her the same thing in the past month."
