MS Contin (morphine) for Chronic Pain "I had tried all the short term meds; like hydrocodone, oxycodone, ect. Over half my back and neck, the pads in between the vertebra are crushed or not there at at. My Dr. Put me on 60mg MS CONTIN 4 TIMES, on a 24 hour period. With hydrocodone as a break through, short term med. l need not say I rarely touch the hydrocodone. Sometimes I only take 2 or 3 MS CONTIN A DAY. MS CONTIN 60mg is the best long term for me, thank GOD FOR 60mg MORPHINE, PAIN FREE!"

MorphaBond ER (morphine) for Chronic Pain "I was prescribed this medicine after a surgical procedure on my arthritic hand. As recommended I took one in the morning that was supposed to last all day. I did not feel any relief whatsoever of my pain during the first week. I continued taking them and accidentally found one of the pills in my poop I took it out of the toilet and it was still enclosed in the thick plastic surrounding of the pills. When I opened the thick plastic cover the powdery substance was still inside. Needless to say I discontinued use. I would not recommend this medicine for anyone who is in real pain."

MS Contin (morphine) for Chronic Pain "I have spinal stenosis, two herniated lumbar discs (inoperable due to location and prior surgery). This medicine allows me at least to get out of bed on most days, and use either my quad cane or walker."

Kadian (morphine) for Chronic Pain "Kadian is AMAZING! I've been a pain sufferer for decades. I suffer from spinal stenosis/spindylosis; cervical neuralgia, etc. I've had multiple cervical fusions (anterior & posterior) with hardware. Anyone who's been through multiple fusions knows the pain changes, but never truly goes away. Pain was somewhat manageable with MS Contin, but I would still "pay" for it if I ever pushed myself, traveled, etc. Since 1998, I never had more than a week or two between moderate/severe pain flare-ups. Since kadian, I've gone as long as 3 months without one! I even flew to Europe for a 10 day vacation (which was a ton of walking/sitting) without any issues! Kadian works and works AWESOME!"

Morphine Sulfate IR (morphine) for Chronic Pain "I've been taking Morphine Sulfate IR 15 mg for Two yrs now. It gives me 80% relief I have 2 herniated disk and degenerative disk disease. I'm on disability. I can at least walk for longer than 10 minutes now. I know I should be on something a bit stronger but here in Michigan doctors a very reluctant to prescribe due to those who abuse! "

Morphine Sulfate IR (morphine) for Chronic Pain "I was in a severe car accident and broke both hips, both shoulders, 6 cervical and 5 lumber and 1 thoracic vertebrae. I had to increase pain relievers, but the Tylenol with Codeine causes my liver enzymes to increase. So, I combine the morphine 15mg with Fentanyl patches (was at 75, dropped to 25, but back up to 50), for immediate relief. This allows me to be able to get out of bed and do activities and I'm in bed until it kicks in. I'm also on Gabapentin 800mg 3x daily and Soma. I have flu like symptoms when I miss my dose, so having to time my medical appointments to always be exactly on a day when I'm going to run out is an ongoing problem. Also, being on morphine means that I have to have dilaudid after surgeries."

For Pain "I broke my back in 2000 and I've had several compression fractures since then and now have developed osteophytes, I was in pain every day and couldn't work, so ended up on disability. I recently started Morphine ER and it has worked wonders, and I no longer need to take 8-12 pills a day like I used to, It's been a God send. I can get around much better and am relatively pain free. I don't get drowsy or dizzy, in fact I don't seem to have any side effects. My quality of life has improved significantly since I started this new medication. Thank goodness my Doctor decided to try this, I will admit, after dealing with this for so long I had lost hope it would get any better. I wish I had known about this years ago, better late than never."

For Chronic Pain "I've been on MS Contin for about 18 years for mult.chronic pain conditions .I take it responsibly and I consider it a huge responsibility to protect my health and my doctor's licenses. I had an odd side effect w/in 24 hrs of 1st dose. it gave me energy! I have also taken the immediate release .I don't find MSIR helpful(15 mg). also someone commented about a Avenza(sp?) ,the 24 hour rx..I was given rx several years ago (1 rx, one mo.cost approx.$1,200 ! I didn't find it useful.Since'91been on patches ,other narcotics etc.. but MSContin has been miracle rx giving me some quality of life..Grateful for any relief.God bless all who deal wuth thos pain issue "

MorphaBond ER (morphine) for Chronic Pain "WAY overpriced almostn$800 out of pocket and no one carried it either. One more way these abuse deterrent meds really hurt the ones who don’t abuse anything. Now I can’t afford my meds and my mortgage. I am a guy living with severe chronic pain. I got taken off OxyContin and oxycodone which was 1/10 the cost out of pocket. Guess it’s suffer and wake up every hour in severe pain till I get insurance. Oh wait then my dr will say you’ve doing fine without morphine for 3 months so I’m not going to give morphine to you anymore"

For Chronic Pain "I have had back problems for a very long time, female trouble (hysterectomy @ 31 yrs old) and fibromyalgia. Also have severe arthritis (runs in our family I believe) As 4 rating this medicine, it helped tons with the pain but the downside (very bad downside) was after taking it for so long when you stop you get so very sick. In my opinion, the sickness is worse than coming off of Percocet, Vicodin, etc. Don't know why that is but that's just what I expect for myself. I know all about slowly cutting down your doses and all and I surely didn't expect it 2 be rainbows and sunshine, but in my experience it was worse than the DT's you get from the others I mentioned. Aside from that, it did help with the pain a great deal."

MorphaBond ER (morphine) for Chronic Pain "I was switched to morphabond after my ileostomy, I keep finding the pill partially dissolved in my pouch. a hard plastic like cover with a powdery cotton material inside. Could this be due to the slow release mechanism"

MS Contin (morphine) for Pain "I was nearly killed in a bicycle verses motor vehicle accident. All things considered I am extremely lucky to be alive and still able to walk. I landed on my head and neck after striking the front corner panel of the vehicle at nearly 40mph. As a result of this I have "mildly bulging discs" in C4-C7(I think C# may be different?) with neural stenosis and syringomyelia, which is a disorder in which a cyst forms within the spinal cord. I was taking 6-8 Percocet a day then I moved to loratab and I had a problem with constantly needing more than I was given and I would end up in severe pain for several hours out of the day. Then my doctor suggested MS Contin and my opiate consumption went down from what it was and my pain control was improved."

Kadian (morphine) for Chronic Pain "I was on Kadian for a few years and this medicine worked well for me. If the doctors prescribe it the right way (increasing the dosage every month or so) then it can be a very effective medicine. Sadly after several years I was switched to Opana."

For Chronic Pain "4 years ago I was in a bicycle accident and broke my left shoulder. About 6 months later I started seeing an orthopedic surgeon and going to a pain clinic. I have been taking 180mg of morphine IR for 3 1/2 years with great success. I have had two shoulder replacement. The first one failed because the damage around the joint was so severe. The 2nd one gave me about 75% of the usage back which is amazing. However, I am still in excruciating pain without pain medication. The morphine I've been taking is a godsend. I'm still focused and alert and able to do most of the everyday things I need to do. I also have an exceptionally helpful and loving husband who help with physical therapy and anything else I need help with. Works for me!"

MS Contin (morphine) for Chronic Pain "Works well I take it every 8 to 12 hrs and haven’t had as much pain. If I forget to take it it’s like starting all over again easing the pain. I wish I had this long time ago instead of going from meds to meds try to see what works. It’s scary taking it and reading up on it but from 1 to 10 I will give it a 8 so far it’s only been 2 months since I’ve been on this medication."

Morphine Sulfate ER (morphine) for Chronic Pain "ZYDUS is the WORST brand MS ER 60 I have EVER been given in over 15 years!! It only works 8 hours instead of the 12 out is supposed to. No pharmacy should be using this. I have six large screws in my spine; L3-5, and suffer chronic and debilitating pain.I have never been given a generic that didn't work -until now. STAY FAR AWAY FROM ZYDUS !!!"

MS Contin (morphine) for Pain "I was recently prescribed MS Contin for chronic pain from two failed shoulder surgeries and awaiting a third surgery. I had been taking Percocet for three years but it had become ineffective. This medication is really a wonderful solution. I am relatively pain-free now. It does take an hour or more for it to take effect even on an empty stomach. I have had no side effects. It is more expensive but since it so effective I don't mind that. I am a retired PA-C and understand chronic pain and pharmacology so I say thanks to drugs.com for the free access to all you need to know about your medications whether you are a practitioner or patient."

For Chronic Pain "By 17 I was diagnosed with Fibromyalgia. Now I have arthritis everywhere, have had a vertebral fusion, (Registered Nurse for 10 years, and I took care of Gastric Bypass patients for 2 of that, ICU for 5), both knees need replacing, and now I am having more back problems again. I attempted suicide 3 times because of the pain. I finally came to my doctor and asked to prescribe and sign a contract. Since then I have had a disc fusion, found how helpful swimming can be (swim daily now), and I can function so much better! I still have pain (30mgER 3xdaily and 15mg Q4hr as needed. Usually only 1x/day.) I am so much more active. The only drawback is occasionally I have difficulty urinating. So thankful for this med."

Morphine Sulfate ER (morphine) for Chronic Pain "Like a lot of you here I'm suffering from chronic back pain due to multiple auto accidents. I used to be on 100mg's Morphine ER 3 times a day with 3-30mg morphine IR for breakout. That enabled me with Advil and Excedrin to work for 7 more years. Since then with the massive cutback on opioids I'm cut back to three 30mg ER tablets a day and not able to do anything. On top of I just moved and can not find a Doc that even wants to work with he here. I've been on Vicodin, Norco, Fentanyl during all this also. Morphine has been the only one that has held the line against the pain."

Morphine Sulfate IR (morphine) for Chronic Pain "This is for IR not SR or ER morphine. It's great. I have terrible reactions to extended release. I'm taking 15mg at 2 hour intervals. I've been working with where my pain is, yet it still hurts. I know a higher dose will do better, but Morphine Sulfate IR is going okay for now."

MS Contin (morphine) for Pain "I am retired, but still read and do many other activities. I was taking MsContin 30mg 3x and Oxycodone IR 10mg 4x per day. I stopped reading and crocheting. I stopped watching my favorite programs. I never knew when I was going to fall asleep. I became hostile, angry, depressed, paranoid and had substantial memory loss. I stopped talking to people and was tired all the time. I didn't connect it to my pain medication because I have numerous chronic illnesses. Last year my doctor suggested a change to Oxycontin, but I was afraid. A month ago I started taking Oxycodone IR 10mg four times a day and Xtampza 18mg three times per day. I wish I had done it sooner. I have eat a good meal with the Xtampza but,I am awake and my real personality is back. My energy is up."
