Skelaxin (metaxalone) for Fibromyalgia "I take Skelaxin for the coat hanger neck pain associated with my neurocardiogenic syncopy, and the severe pain I get from fibromyalgia. I love it! It helps me move more comfortably, and I don't feel exhausted or "high". I used to take Neurontin but that didn't help with pain that much. Being a single mom of 3 kids ages 14, 11, and 2 that wasn't an option."

Skelaxin (metaxalone) for Muscle Spasm "During high school I began having several episodes of ridiculous pain in my back (I was a very healthy athlete at that time also) and ended up experiencing numbness in my L leg to the point I could hardly ambulate (I say ambulate because walking was NOT the only thing it effected). My dad, luckily an M. D., gave me samples of Skelaxin. As long as I took it appr. 2.5hrs before a practice or game, it only helped. After that time period, however, my coordination was markedly decreased, though it did tend to take the right fielder by surprise ;) In short, back then I loved it. I just started back on this after appr. 2 yrs off for a potential slipped/herniated/fromhell disc in the L2-L4 region soo.... Fingers crossed!!"

Skelaxin (metaxalone) for Muscle Spasm "Skelaxin seems to be great. I have taken about 3 days (800mg prescribed 3 x daily). I have even taken on empty stomach (bold move) and walked through a grocery store. It worked great. I was not "foggy" or drunk feeling. I have taken it at work and have not noticed adverse side effects except a slight headache. Nothing good is without some trade-off. I recommend this for those who need daytime/night-time pain relief and do want to feel "doped up" like other muscle relaxers can do."

Skelaxin (metaxalone) for Fibromyalgia "I have fibromyalgia, scleroderma and polymyositus, all have to do with muscle pain and tendon pain. I must say, I went from shuffling in the morning, not being able to walk, to feeling little pain. It's been a month now. I am also on methadone, which, by itself, did not help. I do feel very fatigued, and out of sorts, but, I would rather be like this than the way I was in pain."

Skelaxin (metaxalone) for Muscle Spasm "I had a muscle spasm across my back for 3 weeks. I took Alleve, Ibuprofen 800, Capzasym, Biofreeze, Ice, my husband massaged the area every night. All this provided very little relief. I went to the urgent care doctor recently for a sore throat and mentioned the spasm I am experiencing. He gave me Skelaxin samples. After the first dose I expected to pass out like I do with muscle relaxants but I was not drowsy at all. Instead, I experienced something pleasant - relief!"

Skelaxin (metaxalone) for Fibromyalgia "Skelaxin has been wonderful for me. I first tried it 3 years ago when I could no longer tolerate the pain and spasms associated with my fibromyalgia. Like many other people, I needed something that I could function with and Flexeril had a sedating effect. I have experienced no side effects on Skelaxin."

Skelaxin (metaxalone) for Muscle Spasm "I had a back problem that lasted over 10 days. I went to chiropractor and tried everything. I took one dose of Skelaxin - pain was gone in less then an hour. I have tried a lot of "muscle relaxants" over the years. All they do is sedate you. This one worked and it doesn't mess with your head -- I noticed no sedating effect, even after a glass of wine. I personally do not like to feel "drugged." I hate feeling the effects of opiates, for example. This had no side effects (my experience, yours may be different). Main feature was that the terrible pain was gone."

Skelaxin (metaxalone) for Fibromyalgia "I have found Skelaxin to almost be a wonder drug. No side effects and my muscle spasms are almost gone, no twitching while I am in an office meeting anymore. I am not foggy and can function normally. This has been great for me."

Skelaxin (metaxalone) for Muscle Spasm "I just took skelaxin for the first time. While it relaxed just some of the pressure and pain from my chest due to fibromyalgia, it kept me up all night! I have not been been able to fall asleep and was very restless all night"

For Fibromyalgia "I've suffered with fibromyalgia pain for the last seven years. I just started taking this last week and have already been able to cut my pain medicines in half! For the first time in years, I had a full, active weekend! What a relief."

Skelaxin (metaxalone) for Muscle Spasm "I have used Skelaxin for over four years. I have found it quite useful for muscle spasms in my lower back. Unlike Flexeril, it doesn't make me sleepy during the daytime hours. My muscle spasms in the lower back are from a ruptured/ bulging disc in L4-L5 area. Without the Skelaxin, I am limited to very short time periods (5-10 minutes) of work in the yard and house. With Skelaxin, I can work 30-45 minutes before the lower back muscles begin to spasm. Skelaxin changed my life for the goo"

For Muscle Spasm "Because Flexeril made me really drowsy I asked for an alternative and was given Metaxalone. I found that it worked just as well without the drowsiness and I was happy with it. I take it for when I throw my neck or back out. Then I started taking Viibryd (anti-depressant) two weeks ago. I checked here for interactions between it and Metaxalone and it said there was none so when I needed it for my back this morning I didn't hesitate to take one. And oh my goodness, I became super drowsy and pretty nauseous. I was also a bit unsteady on my feet. I had to climb in the bed and sleep it off."

Skelaxin (metaxalone) for Muscle Spasm "I have been on Skelaxin since 1994 and it is the only medication that has worked for me all these years. I was in a bad car wreck in '94 and then I was diagnosed with Fibromyalgia. When I had back surgery in '07 and I was without it for 3 months, I thought I would die. My surgeon put me back on it and when he did, I started feeling better. It is a great medication for me."

Skelaxin (metaxalone) for Muscle Spasm "I had a very strange episode of a serious neck cramp. I was still able to move it, but if I did, I would get a constant dull to sharp pain. In fact, I could only sit in one particular position in order to subside the pain. I took some Skelaxin and a small dose of Hydrocodone. It was without a doubt the best way to get rid of that pain. After about 45 minutes of taking it, I was feeling 90% without sleepiness or 'weirdness.' Highly recommended."

Skelaxin (metaxalone) for Fibromyalgia "I have fibromyalgia and couldn't handle the pain any longer. I went to the doctor today and they put me on Skelaxin. I took one pill and it was like a miracle. AWESOME. They also put me on Lyrica and I haven't taken it yet today. Hoping the 2 meds together will help."

Skelaxin (metaxalone) for Muscle Spasm "My Pain Management Physician prescribed Skelaxin to help control severe spasms in my inner thighs down to and including my feet. My condition is "Failed Back Syndrome" which resulted from 2X Laminectomies at L4-L5. Prior to this I had been using Zanaflex for two years but had side effects. I advised my doctor I needed a medicine, which would help address my spasms without making me a zombie and he prescribed Skelaxin. That was five years ago and it saved my life. While I continue to have periodic spasms, I can eat my meals without my wife standing by in case I choked on my food. I would recommend Skelaxin to any individual who has muscle spasms."

Skelaxin (metaxalone) for Fibromyalgia "Wonderful, but expensive, muscle relaxant! This is the only type of muscle relaxant that I can take, experience some relief from pain and stiffness, and still be able to drive, stay awake, etc. LOVE Skelaxin!"

Skelaxin (metaxalone) for Fibromyalgia "I was having one of my "bad" days. I was expected at my Mother's 80th Birthday party. I took the Skelaxin and felt well enough to go. I am not one for taking medication. I should have brought the next dose with me, I had to leave the party due to the pain."

For Fibromyalgia "Although this medicine is very expensive, I only need 400mg every couple of days. I am able to purchase 3-5 800 mg pills per pharmacy visit. I only need to take it when in pain, and it works very quickly, so I'm not changing to another medicine. Flexeril makes me dizzy, dry, and doesn't work as well. Lyrica also makes me dizzy and nauseated. So metaxalone is my blessing. I'm very glad and surprised that I also don't have any side effects, as I am very sensitive to most medicines. Good luck everyone with Metaxalone. It works like a charm for me."

Skelaxin (metaxalone) for Fibromyalgia "I have fibromyalgia or they say and have been on everything known to mankind even experimental drugs. I am now down to just pain medicines which I am weening myself off of. I tried Skelaxin and has it helped relax the tension I have had for years now. I have been doing stretching exercises and this medicine helps loosen me up so it's not so painful. It's probably just another bandaid but it has helped me so far...very expensive though. "

For Muscle Spasm "I have always suffered from frequent headaches/migraines, and was put on a preventative medication (Nortriptylin). This medication took care of regular headaches/migraines, but not tension related ones. I carry a lot of tension in my shoulders, and was originally prescribed Cyclobenzaprine for the tension along with (generic) Fioricet for the headaches themselves. This combo did not work, so my Dr replaced the Cyclobenzaprine with Metaxalone. This seems to have done the trick! When I feel the tension (w/o a headache) I take the Metaxalone with great results. If there is also a headache the Metaxalone isn't enough, so I add a Fioricet. So far this combo has allowed me to deal with headaches without having to go home and curl in a ball."

Skelaxin (metaxalone) for Muscle Spasm "I was in a car accident and my neck/shoulder was extremely painful. I don't like doctors, but after 3 weeks I gave in a went to urgent care. I don't take medicines and have always done the alternative or holistic remedies. Not knowing anything about drugs, he gave me this script for Skelaxin with some samples to try before filling the script. I have only taken 1 tablet at night for the last 3 days. I noticed today I can move better. Everything that has been hurting feels better. What's more, there is no side effect. I just found out from my research tonight that this is a muscle relaxer. This stuff is a wonder drug. I feel so much better and don't feel like a zombie."

Skelaxin (metaxalone) for Muscle Spasm "Likewise. As others here have posted, I had an L-4 / L-5 issue. It required a lumbarectomy in 1995. I also have no ability to control myself from over doing dosage with medicines that have mind altering effects. My doctor knew this and prescribed skelaxin "as needed" and a daily stretching regimin. "As needed" has been very controlable, even for me (with my weakness for over use). My pain is relieved and my mind stays clear."

Skelaxin (metaxalone) for Muscle Spasm "I have tried everything out there and for me this is a drug that allows me to finally have a day without pain. I have had four cervical spine surgeries and two shoulder replacements. After the surgeries I started having terrible muscle spasms around the neck/shoulder area. I pretty much gave up and just stayed home. I feel like a new person."
