Provera (medroxyprogesterone) for Abnormal Uterine Bleeding "I have been taking Provera since July 2019. I have had heavy periods for years and started a very irregular pattern in Dec 2018. The doctor put me on it to thin out my lining and correct a hormonal imbalance. I've had one period that was very light in Sept and haven't had another one. I am having a D&C for a polyp removal and am hoping I am finally done with heavy bleeding. Provera has saved my sanity."

Depo-subQ provera 104 (medroxyprogesterone) for Endometriosis "I got on this as a teenager for my endometriosis. Besides spotting for the first four months I have had no ill effects. No weight gain. In fact its hard to keep weight on. I got off of it to have my kids. Now I'm back on it. It's so much easier raising toddlers without cramps and random bleeding. I recommend it highly. Don't let bad experiences scare you. I actually had a horrible time with the pill. I love my Depo shots!"

Provera (medroxyprogesterone) for Amenorrhea "So I was prescribed Provera because I haven’t had my period in over a year and I had to take it for 5 days. I’m not sure of the dose I think 5 or 10. I started on the 24th of July and stopped on the 28th. During the 5 days I was getting like PMS and light cramping. After I stopped, it took me 6 days to finally get my period and it was heavy. Like SUPER heavy. My periods are usually heavy so it didn’t really faze me and so were my cramps, but it’s horrible when you haven't had a period in a while, you kind of forget the pain. So I’m almost on day 9 of my period and the flow is still going strong. I’m worried it won’t ever stop. My cramps are so bad it radiates to my back and down my legs and it is constant all day, I don’t know what to do. My emotions are all over the place as well, I get in an uncontrollable rage and extremely sad throughout the day. Hopefully it stops."

Depo Provera (medroxyprogesterone) for Abnormal Uterine Bleeding "I go the shot in late August and a week after getting the shot I bled continuously with no signs of stopping for 14 days and I was panicking and found this site. I scrolled for hours and found a comment that saved me!!!! If you are continuously bleeding go get some raspberry leaf tea and drink 4 cups of it a day.( I would just permanently the night before put two tea bags in a 16 ounce glass bottle with honey and let sit over night) I took this for two days and the bleeding was still there but very light. However I needed it to stop completely because my boyfriend of a long distance relationship was coming that weekend. So I went on amazon and ordered natural estrogen supplements and took those with the tea every day and the bleeding completely stopped after 4 days and I haven’t bled since. The estrogen supplements also stopped my bad mood swings and my heat flashes as well, I feel back to normal. I HOPE THIS HELPS YOU GUYS GET YOUR LIFE BACK"

Provera (medroxyprogesterone) for Abnormal Uterine Bleeding "It’s a good medicine overall I had really heavy bleeding and got sent to the hospital and they put me on this which was 10mg for 20days and I stopped bleeding 12 days into it . But after reading some of these comments makes me so worried because once I stop it I’ll have the “break through” bleeding. So my thing is, how are you going to put someone on something for so long then when they stop taking it then it’ll come rushing again. Hmm."

Provera (medroxyprogesterone) for Abnormal Uterine Bleeding "I am a 51 year old female. In January 2008 I had a light period that lasted for 4 days and then stopped. Five days later I started bleeding again. I had such a heavy flow with clotting that I had to change every 2 hours. After the 14th day, I began to get very weak. My mother convinced me that this was not normal and to see a gynecologist. On day 16 of this heavy bleeding I went to the gynecologist. She told me I was going through menopause and prescribed Provera. On the next day, I was to take 20mg for 10 days. After 2 days, I stopped bleeding. On day 12 my doctor told me I needed to do this for the next 3 months and each month would get better and it would help me through menopause. I do not feel good at all when I take the Provera."

Depo Provera (medroxyprogesterone) for Abnormal Uterine Bleeding "This is my second shot and I am still bleeding like the first one. The shot is supposed to work for 3 months, but for some reason, I get about a month only. After that, I literally have my period every day til I get my next shot. This shot has not been helpful at all. On top of getting my period every day for 2 months, I gain weight like crazy too. Too many cons, I would rather not be on the shot."

Depo Provera (medroxyprogesterone) for Abnormal Uterine Bleeding "If I could give this shot 0 rating I would. Lets start with I've always had a normal period before this unexplained side effect of a shot. This shot was administer to me in April and I didn't stop bleeding until July 31st. After doing my own research and taking matters into my own hands it has finally stopped. I went to the doctor countless of times trying to figure out how to stop the bleeding. I took (BLACKSTRAP MOLASSES) if I could type that in bold letters and in a bigger font I would. When I tell you on the first day of taking it the bleeding was much lighter and on the 5th day it was gone. All I took was one tablespoon daily."

Provera (medroxyprogesterone) for Amenorrhea "I am 35 years old. No children, never been pregnant. I was diagnosed with PCOS IN 2014. I started taking this drug to jumpstart my period as it had been 3 almost 4 months without. My Dr. recommended I start birth control to try and regulate my period. I started this on April 15th. By April 22nd I started get pains on my upper right side almost cramping like near my rib cage. It’s been a week with these on and off again pains. I finished the medication on the 24th and started bleeding Tuesday. The pain still comes and goes. I am a little nervous as to what this could be. Anyone have this kind of experience with this drug?"

Provera (medroxyprogesterone) for Abnormal Uterine Bleeding "I am 43, and Doctor says I am perimenopausal. My progesterone is not high enough. I did not have my period since November. My doctor prescribed me Provera. Have taken for 5 days and started my period on a second day after taking the last pill. Started bleeding like a normal flow on Tuesday. Had minor cramping. Since Tuesday cramping was getting worse and worse. And today on Friday could not go to work as I am passing large blood clots. Have to change super pads every hour. Can't wait for this nightmare to stop. How long can this heavy part last? The last 24 hours were awfully heavy, losing too much blood. Should I go to emergency room? Or should I wait? My doctor said to wait it out. But I am crying, and feeling miserable."

Provera (medroxyprogesterone) for Abnormal Uterine Bleeding "I always had regular periods and never took contraceptives & have no kids. I took Spironolactone for severe acne at age 49 and I had non-stop bleeding/spotting for nearly 2 months afterwards. The bleeding got worse and terrible cramps started. I have anemia and also a large fibroid. Ended up in the emergency room. Provera 10mg 3 times a day & Tranexamic acid 500mg 3 times 2 tablets were prescribed. I did not take Provera at first because I was worried, it's another hormone pill. A day later, I noticed Tranexamic only works for 8 hours and if the next dose comes late, I bled heavily again. So, I started taking Provera. Miraculously, within 3.5 days, the bleeding stopped. Side effects were reasonable: cramps, headache. I read all reviews before taking Provera and saw a 35% chance. I am glad I took the pill because it worked for me. I found a common negative review. All women stated they never had regular periods and they were on and off contraceptive pills before the irregular bleeding. I feel for all women who go through this; it is awful!"

Provera (medroxyprogesterone) for Amenorrhea "I was on Depo Provera shot for 1.5 years before wanting to change to natural family planning. After getting off the shot, I had no period for 1 year. Doc prescribed Provera. I DID NOT BLEED. Three months later. I became pregnant. I miscarried around 5 weeks. It was a natural miscarriage. Waited two months still no period. Went back to doc. Prescribed Provera 10 mg for 10 days (again), currently bleeding on day one after the last pill. I recommend this medicine. It does jump start the cycle. And I believe that helped me ovulate during the first cycle even though I did not have a period with it. Never lose hope if you are trying to conceive or simply just bring back a regular cycle so that you can feel like a "normal" woman."

Depo Provera (medroxyprogesterone) for Abnormal Uterine Bleeding "Is there a class action suit against this company??? We need to start one!!!! After getting 2 Depo Provera shots, I bled for a YEAR and a half STRAIGHT!! I had 3 blood transfusions until my doctor said there is no other option other than a hysterectomy. I was 39 years old then and was planning on having another baby with my husband but I couldn't. My blood level was 5.3 at one point, my doctor said it was the lowest he had ever seen in any patient."

Depo Provera (medroxyprogesterone) for Birth Control "This birth control Depo-Provera is the worse birth control ever made. Don't get it - it will mess you up. I bled every single day for months and good birth control doesn't make you bleed everyday heavy so you can't have sex anyway. Think about your options don't choose Depo-Provera it's awful "

Depo Provera (medroxyprogesterone) for Birth Control "I am now 34 and getting really really fed up with contraception. I’ve had my kids and I’ve tried them all. Each one seems to have these nasty side effects for me. I feel us women have to go through the mill with all these awful side effects. Some women won’t even know it’s because of contraception and end up so confused because most healthcare professionals will tell you it’s not the contraception that is causing the problem. My husband is now getting the snip I’ve told him enough is enough. Men should take more responsibility I’ve been doing it for 20 years now. Anyway! The depo. I stupidly decided to get it whilst my husband waits for the snip. So week 1 banging headaches. Piercing side headaches - paracetamol and ibrofen wouldn’t even work. Week 2 - back ache. Terrible back ache. Ended up going to physiotherapist. Week 3 - joint pain all over. Week 4 - weight gain. Week 5 - thrush. Week 6 - depression. I am now on week 7 and I just want this all over."

Provera (medroxyprogesterone) for Abnormal Uterine Bleeding "Provera did not work for me. When I had my last period, before the operation to get fibroids removed, I had some really heavy period bleeding, I could not leave home. I had to go to A&E where a GP prescribed Provera to me. The drug calmed the bleeding down for a few days but it never stopped it. On some days I would have a really heavy bleeding with massive clots. During 2 weeks I had to visit A&E a couple of times again trying to explain that the drug is not working. I was assured again and again that since my operation is taking place in a couple of weeks, there was no point of changing the drug. In my third week of bleeding it became extremely bad, it was pouring out non-stop for hours. I ended up in A&E again where I collapsed at the reception and was admitted to hospital. I was given an injection of Tranexamic acid that stopped the bleeding and I was prescribed Norethisterone instead which worked much better!"

Provera (medroxyprogesterone) for Amenorrhea "I've never had a period. I'm 32 years old. Me and my husband want to try to conceive a baby naturally. Doctor put me on Provera to kick start my ovaries, Because they are half the size of a normal size ovary for my age. It has been 5 days, two 10mg pills a day. So far nothing. I'm starting on another 5 days today. So far 2 bad dreams, and one panic attack. Nipples sore, and cramping below navel, but nothing serious."

Provera (medroxyprogesterone) for Abnormal Uterine Bleeding "I have been on Provera 10mg for about a month. I was initially diagnosed with uterine polyps and had a DNC done to remove the polyps and my oby prescribed provera to stop the bleeding. It stopped for maybe 5 days but then started again and was way heavier and more clotting and cramping. My oby in turn prescribed mefenamic acid in combination with the provera and it still hasn't stopped the bleeding. I've been bleeding heavily for almost a 10 days now. I've started to see a slowing in the amount of blood but its not stopping altogether. It has been about 3 months of bleeding. Next step for me is a hysterectomy. I'm 34 years old and do not want to do that. I'm hoping this will work. It hasn't so far but I'm keeping my fingers crossed."

Provera (medroxyprogesterone) for Abnormal Uterine Bleeding "I'm a 31 year old diagnosed with PCOS. I've been having irregular periods since the age of 15. They put me on birth control which regulated them. Now older they are worried about my blood pressure and blood clots. The longest I've gone without a period is a year and a half. The last 3 months ive had spotting everyday. Dr put me on Provera 10 pills every 3 months. I got my period on the 4th day of taking pills and am now dealing with debilitating cramps, heavy bleeding and clotting bigger than quarter size. I bleed through a tampon and pad every hour. Had to leave work early today because I bled through my pants in a matter of 30 minutes. It's been like this for 3 days and is unbearable. When will it end?"

Depo Provera (medroxyprogesterone) for Abnormal Uterine Bleeding "I really wish I saw this page before I took the depo :( I got onto birth control to be with my boyfriend and for the first month I only had spotting for 3 days and it stopped. Then around the 2nd month, I bled very heavily and passed a huge placenta sized clot. Scared me to death. I had panic attacks and depression for a week. Went to the doctor because I felt so sick I thought there was something seriously wrong with me. They said "its normal", gave me ibuprofen and left me on my way. The bleeding stopped for 4 days and started again. I haven't had sex with my boyfriend in so long and I'm so tired of bleeding. I'm tired, sad, and angry all the time. I can't have sex without there being so much blood. The amount of shame, sadness, and embarrassment I feel is immeasurable. I'm so mad the doctors never told me any of this would happen and now I'm scared it's going to last longer. I'm so tired of crying over this."

I almost thought I was anemic at one point due to the shot. However it was very effective in preventing pregnancy, but definitely not worth all the other symptoms."

Depo-subQ provera 104 (medroxyprogesterone) for Endometriosis "I was hesitant to try this but I really didn't want to have a hysterectomy. I've already had one ovary/tube out due to my endometriosis. I was recently diagnosed with also have adenomyosis now. It was Depo-subQ, Lupron or a hysterectomy. I read so many terrible reviews that it had me nervous but I tried it anyway. I've gained a few pounds but am also 45 and lazy so that may be the more likely culprit. My acne is actually gone. I've had no endometriosis symptoms. My hair is slightly thicker. For me it's been a miracle. We're hoping to be able to have these results until menopause hits."
