Caplyta (lumateperone) "I've been taking Caplyta for about two months and I have improved so much. Other medications I've tried just made me gain weight and they were just sedatives that did nothing but make me sleep and eat. I would go back to the doctor and complain and then just get another one to make me sleep and eat. But Caplyta is different, it actually gets rid of the hallucinations instead of sedating and numbing my head."

Caplyta (lumateperone) "I have tried trialed this medication for 8 months and previously had a raving review about weight loss and more manageable symptoms. Problems have risen since my initial review that have changed my opinion. It costs $2000 out of pocket and is not available in generic so it is also not the most accessible. This medication raised my prolactin levels outside of normal range, resulting in visible hair loss (I am a young woman). Raised prolactin levels can also affect fertility and I could not tolerate either. Taking this medication while in school negatively impacted my schedule and caused me to have to take a medical leave. Immediately after taking the drug, I am extremely exhausted and cannot think. I could not dedicate evenings to getting school work done as needed, due to slow cognition and lethargy immediately after taking. With this medicine there is initial weight gain & then eventual weight loss, but if you miss a dose or doses, the weight comes right back."

Caplyta (lumateperone) "Today was my first day taking caplyta. I ended up in the hospital due to the side effects. I had muscle weekness. I was extremely tired and felt like my head was in a fog. I had a chronic migraine that your over the counter medication wouldn't treat. My blood sugar dropped into the 50s. My average blood pressure was 77/55. I fell once at home and twice in the hospital!!! I will not be taking this again!!"

Caplyta (lumateperone) "My experience with Caplyta has been terrible. I was on Latuda for years and my doctor thought I should try Caplyta because of the wonderful reviews she had been getting about the drug. I have had breakthrough psychosis on and off now for about three months. I never had breakthrough psychosis with Latuda. I think for me Latuda is the drug that help that will help me the most. I've also been Prescribed Viibryd for anxiety. I do not like Viibryd either as it causes me very restless nights being unable to sleep."

Caplyta (lumateperone) "I am taking Caplyta for Schizoaffective disorder + bipolar. I took the 42mg daily dose for a month. This drug is designed for no tapering. Reading other reviews I was prepared for 1 to 3 days of headache initially and a niacin-like flushing that made me feel feverish. I was not prepared for my IBD symptoms to worsen. Food I ate would go through me not fully digested. I had diarrhea constantly. Now that I take Latuda I am regular and no diarrhea. As far as ameliorating paranoia, I still felt fearful occasionally."

Caplyta (lumateperone) "Unfortunately, this drug sent me to the ER. Took one pill and within 1 hour I was taken to the ER by my wife. I was vomiting, very high pulse rate and in bad shape. Maybe, it works for some, but not for me."

Caplyta (lumateperone) "What a great medicine! I’ve read all the research before release from FDA jail. I went in to the doctor and had to educate them with peer-reviewed journal articles. This drug is revolutionary; a true 3rd generation antipsychotic. My gf tried all the regular 2nd gen stuff, but when she finally got to try Caplyta, all her side effects were gone! My only complaint is I wish there was a slightly higher dose available. It seems 70% as effective as 12mg risperidone, but almost zero downside. Slight catatonia, but at least she isn’t running away from home!"

Caplyta (lumateperone) "This is one of the worst drugs I have ever tried in my life. Literally almost drove me to the edge of insanity. I do not recommend it and I left behind REXULTI and NUDEXTA."

Caplyta (lumateperone) "My husband has been on Caplyta since January 2022. He is doing much better. It even stopped his smothering problems that he has had since he was 18. He has been on many meds since being diagnosed when he was young. The only thing is that he's 79 and we have a hard time affording it. I think that this is age discrimination as if you're under 65 it would cost 15 dollars a month but him being older. Insurance will pay some but the copay is still high if you're on Social Security only. He is getting samples from mental health doctor but they won't do that anymore. Will there be a generic soon? There should not be an age where the price is an outrageous amount"
