Xyzal (levocetirizine) for Urticaria "I have been taking Xyzal for over five years now and can’t see myself without it. I was diagnosed with dermatographia urticaria at age 14 and it was not manageable with Claritin, Benadryl, or Allegra. A specialist prescribed me Xyzal and I have been taking it ever since. While I’m not usually affected by the drowsiness associated with Benadryl and Xyzal, it definitely shows up with even the slightest use of alcohol or marijuana (legal where I live). One drink for me on Xyzal is comparable to 5+ for someone not taking it. The drowsiness from interaction and its lack of access in Canada are my only complaints. I’ve had to order it online from Amazon since moving here, as no pharmacies here carry it. I would strongly recommend it to anyone with dermatographia urticaria. I will say I still need to use Allegra in addition on days where I’m exposed to lots of dust or other common allergens but still experience minimal hives on those days."

Xyzal (levocetirizine) for Allergies "This medicine has severe side effects; that is, it causes irritability and tiredness. It does dry a person out, but the side effects necessitate cautionary awareness if you are going to drive or work with people. You have no patience. I do not recommend this product."

Xyzal (levocetirizine) for Allergies "I have had sinus issues for that last 40 years. Tried this drug - took 1/2 a pill at bedtime as suggested. Did not make me sleepy at all. In the morning I got up and was in a puddle of sweat. Thought the hot flashes were just worse. Also my stomach hurt somewhat. After some time stopped taking them - the sweating stopped. My stomach is now fine. Too bad - it really took care of my allergies."

For Allergies "My doctor prescribed levocetirizine for reoccurring hives about 3 months ago. The first night I took a full dose (5 mg) I slept like a rock; didn't get up until the late morning. I now cut the pill in half which has eliminated any drowsiness. It has helped the hives and I haven't experienced any unusual side effects other than when I forgot to take it for a couple of days and starting feeling nauseous. So if/when I no longer need it I will stop using gradually instead of suddenly."

Xyzal (levocetirizine) for Allergies "I was desperate for something to alleviate coughing which was severe to the point of which I had trouble breathing, and terrible accompanying chest pain. I purchased xyzal otc, and used just one dose last night, no other meds were taken with it. It has helped substantially with the coughing, although I haven't slept at all!!!"

Xyzal (levocetirizine) for Allergies "The very first day I took this medicine it felt like someone was squeezing my brain. I don't know if my sinuses were that bad or this medicine was a contributor. After reading these reviews I would not buy or use this product again and plus it's way to expensive. I wish I could have given it a 0 rating because a 1 is way more than what they deserve!"

Xyzal (levocetirizine) for Allergies "I took xyzal last night for the first time. I have awoken with the left side of my nasal passages blocked and a head ache that feels like a benzo hangover. If I'm going to feel this way the morning after, I better have had fun the night before. 1/10 I will never take this again even though it was free."

For Allergic Rhinitis "After three sinus infections in a year my doctor decided to try this drug. How I wish I'd never taken that first pill. Two weeks after I started this 5mg dose, I noticed I couldn't smell cinnamon pine cones. A week later I no longer could taste food. It has been over a year and a visit to a ENT says I won't ever be able to taste or smell again. I want everyone including physicians to know if I knew that I would never have the ability to taste and smell I would have never taken this drug. There are 51 reported cases of this drug doing this to humans, guess I'm number 52."

Xyzal (levocetirizine) for Allergies "Found this medication to be completely ineffective in treating my allergy symptoms. Not only was I up urinating many times during the night but when I got out of bed my eyes were tearing, my sinuses were swollen and I was very drowsy. I believe this drug to be just another heavily promoted batch of promises that simply does not deliver. And yes..this stuff is not inexpensive to say the least. Save your money and just buy the home brand of antihistamine."

For Allergic Rhinitis "I've been suffering from allergies manifested mostly in the eyes. Always tearing and watering for years. Ophthalmologist always prescribed different eye drops. Took this medication levocetirizine which was prescribed to my wife by her ENT and it has worked fantastically. Cleared up my eyes with one pill taken 3 days ago and no side effects. Rate it a 10 for my condition..."

Xyzal (levocetirizine) for Allergies "I took this three days ago and was up all night. I didn't make the connection as I had a cup of coffee later in the evening than I normally would. I took another Xyzal the following day. I still have not slept. I have been up for 3 nights!!! I have a heavy duty sleeping pill that I am going to take tonight and I'm hoping that will be the end of it. I can't imagine it would take longer than 72 hours to make its way out of my system. If you are someone who experiences these types symptoms with certain medications, avoid Xyzal."

Xyzal (levocetirizine) for Allergies "I wanted to share my experience with taking this medication. I started taking this medicine and felt a little better with the allergies however, I noticed my mood had changed. I started feeling very depressed about a week into the medicine and that is NOT like me at all. I am usually someone who wakes up with a burst of energy and always in a good mood. My allergy symptoms were improving a little bit but now I am in a state of depression. I was having mood swings and mentally breaking down crying for reasons that I usually wouldn't cry about. I talked with my doctor and we agreed that the medicine was making me feel this way. Today is day 4 without taking the medicine and I am back to my normal bubbly self. No more Xzyal for me."

For Allergies "I've had allergies all my life, and they get especially bad in the summer. I get completely stuffy and I can't breathe from my nose at any time, regardless of what I am doing. If I take this, they get a better, but not completely gone. My doctor also added Fluticasone and now my allergy symptoms are completely gone. Claritin-D, Allegra-D and Zyrtec-D just didn't help."

Xyzal (levocetirizine) for Allergies "I have severe allergies indoor and out. I cough constantly due to post nasal drip and irritated throat. I took Xyzal and within hours the coughing stopped! I ran out of pills and took Allegra. The coughing came back the same day. The coughing doesn't go down well with everyone being fearful of the Swine Flu! I am so thankful to have found Xyzal."

Xyzal (levocetirizine) for Allergies "I have had the worst allergies on record this season. I have tried everything from Claritin to Zyrtec and everything in between. Nothing helped. My post nasal drip was so bad I felt like I had bronchitis from all of the coughing. I even thought I was going to overdose on my albuterol inhaler because I used it so much because I could not breath. A friend recommended Xyzal and brought it to my house one day. The symptoms did not go away all at once but after 2 days on the pill I feel so much better. I take it around 6 pm everyday and I sleep well and wake up perfectly fine the next day. Xyzal has saved me. I hope it lasts and doesn't wear off like Claritin."

Xyzal (levocetirizine) for Allergies "I never tried this product because I am allergic to microcrystalline cellulose. The cellulose can cause gut pain, inflammation and sometimes itching. Watch for products that use this filler. Even some prescription drugs use this filler. Be aware of the inactive ingredients in what you take."

Xyzal (levocetirizine) for Allergies "The instructions say that you should take it at night as it can cause drowsiness; however, this medication kept me up all night! It also made me feel anxious and weird. And to top it all off, I am still suffering from allergies. Guess it's time to try something else."

Xyzal (levocetirizine) for Allergic Rhinitis "Day 2, throat drainage is much better, although hasn't stopped completely. Congestion in my nose is better as well. No problems with feeling sleepy. Trying this to see if I can avoid deviated septum surgery after being on antibiotics for 3 months for severe sinus infection"

Xyzal (levocetirizine) for Urticaria "I have suffered from hives for over 30 years. No medicine helped. I had them for 3 years straight, 24/7. My hives have come back about 4 different times, lasting up to a year. I have been on Xyzal for about 2 months. I take Benadryl, then an hour later I will take the Xyzal. I take Benadryl at bedtime. This is the first time in the 30 years that I feel they are under control. For anyone with chronic hives, its worth a shot. I have no side effects as of yet. They do not make me tired either."

Xyzal (levocetirizine) for Allergies "I have a rare skin rash that appears only during summer months. It is an immune system response to heat. Xyzal 10 mg reduces the rash by about 20%, but after about a month, an immunosupressive reaction occurred. I started getting large, painful pimples in weird places like forearm, hand, and neck. Had a similar reaction to Flonase a few years ago. Immune system can't fight the pimples, so they take over. Disappointing because this is the first oral drug to have an effect on the rash. Hay fever gone too."

Xyzal (levocetirizine) for Allergies "My doctor suggested this medication for allergies a few days ago. I was taking for two days and I was completed exhausted and wiped out both days (which never happens to me). So I decided to research it and saw that many people had a similar reaction. This was a significant reaction so be careful before you take it. I have now stopped."

Xyzal (levocetirizine) for Allergies "Healthy adult male, slightly overweight, itchiness from allergies. Half a tablet left me groggy and exhausted for nearly 30 hours. Also some minor chest pains. I cannot risk using it again. It got rid of the itchiness, but the side effects are a big negative"

Xyzal (levocetirizine) for Urticaria "I have had chronic hives for a year and a half. It's awful. I have been taking Xyzal for almost a year now. Xyzal works to eliminate the itching and rashes, but it makes me very tired. If I take it during the day I feel tired. If I take it before bed I have difficulty waking up and getting started. It also makes me feel down, just not myself. I have not found anything better to help with my rash outbreaks so I do continue to use it."

For Allergies "I am a healthy, stable person. I took this for seven days. It was instantly effective at treating my allergies all night and day and helped me sleep at night. However, during the days I started having moments of fogginess in my thoughts and physical tiredness that were intense..too intense as I drive an hour commute to university. One day in class I felt confused about what time it should be on the clocks and what time events in my day normally occurred. I felt panicky, confused and out of my body that day. That was the last day I took it. I am sensitive to medications including anything that CAN make someone drowsy. Maybe I could lower the amount I take but for now I'm just going to be more consistent with meds I trust and that don't make me feel anxious, detached and exhausted. Overall I think it's effective and worth trying. It just didn't work for me because negative side effects outweighed the benefits."
