"I was put on this for neuropathy. 5 weeks in at 900mg a day I’m no longer taking it. I broke out in hives all over my body. Things that looked like mosquito bites but no red dot in the center. That lasted a month. Blisters on my skin. Dry skin, always thirsty, my well being was off - like I never had before putting this pill in my mouth"

"Just took my first one today and I can't believe how good I feel right now. I've been hurting for months. Waiting for my neurologist to see me now. I was feeling exhausted from hurting so badly. I never thought it would end but I feel 200 times better after taking the first dose. I highly recommend this drug."

"I have c-2 c-3, c-5 c-6 and L-3 L-4 herniated in my back and neck. I was in pain killers which did nothing! 10-325. When I finally got into the spine specialist he put me on this and it is a godsend. I am still in pain all the time and have lost use of my right arm but it is bare able where as before I wanted to cut my arm off! Nerve pain is like nothing I have ever felt and I have had 3 children. This is the only medicine that I am scared to run out of. I have been on it since April 2015, I lost my job and insurance and so I lost my doctor and had to cut back from 1800 a day to 600 and I wanted to die!"

"I have neuropathy not related to diabetes and was having trouble walking because the pain was so severe. I would tape my feet at night to sleep. I have been on gabapentin for 10 years now and it worked amazing but I had to go back every couple of year for more. More, more, more! Now I take the maximum and have gained a lot of weight and have trouble with memory loss. I have to find something else but weaning myself off was a non-starter because the pain is triple bad. Still trying to get the Dr. to change it. He says everything causes weight gain."

"I take gabapentin 800mg 2 tabs three times a day as directed by my neurologist for my migraines and my messed up nerve issues in neck. It has done wonders for me. Being on this dose I can work at my job and loud noises do not bother me and beaming light does not send me into a migraine attack. This medicine and dose has been helping my nerve pain in the neck a lot. I give this gabapentin and dose a 5 star my neurologist and family doctor really worked together to help me. People need to stop kicking this medicine and dose - everyone's responds differently to medicines and doses my doctor and neurologist have been highly praised for not handing out a script for narcotics which I've never asked for"

"Frustrated with sciatica, I popped a couple Gabapentin (600mg) to see if relief. (My family member had them for migraines but never used them) Two things became evident after about an hour and a half: 1) the sciatica was still there but pain was vague and I didn't care about it; 2) at my usual Saturday night binge drinking hour - 3PM - I had no desire to drink. Ever since I discovered this miracle drug I've barely drank, no hangovers, just feel great. Miracle drug may save my liver, life, and marriage."

"I was prescribed gabapentin 900 mg a day primarily for neuropathic pain generated from several spinal nerves in my cervical, thoracic, lumbar, and sacral spine. I'm in a lot less pain. I'm a little lightheaded and dizzy, but food and plenty of fluids help with that. I'm also used to it from a brain condition I have."

"I've been taking this drug for almost 9 months and I get no relief. I suffer with leg pain that intensifies when I walk. I've seen at least 5 different specialists; had scores of tests/MRI's etc and no diagnosis. My final visit was with Neurologists (I've seen two; one in Philadelphia and the other doctor in New York). Unfortunately, I have not responded to this medicine and am now weaning off of it. good luck to those who try it......SAD to say I had no luck and my condition worsens every month."

"I started on 100 mg at night for about 1 week. Then increased to 300, 600 and finally in about a month I was up to 1200 mgs a day in increments of three. For the first 6 weeks you are tired but it's worth it, as soon as it kicks in your pain is gone! I feel a little loopy somedays and I forget a lot of things but my arthritis and bulging disks are pain free and I can live a great life. I dread getting off of it though. It's going to be hell. If I ever run out its bad diarrhea. And anxiety. Don't run out or take more than your prescribed. Gab is a great drug for nerve pain. And I have no anxiety."

"Degenerative disc pain. Pinched nerve root L4-L5, from arthritic bone spurs. Was on oxycodone for months. Doc gave me this to get me off the oxy's. By god, it worked. I was truly skeptical, but my pain levels are assuredly reduced, and the side affects are minor. The oxys really didn't block the hardcore nerve signals that fire when the nerve is pinched by walking or movements. Lightning bolts of pain would shoot right through the meds. This at least makes the pain tolerable."

"I was never warned about the withdrawal, which is my responsibility to research. I will never make that mistake again. The withdrawal from Gabapentin made me suicidal and I ended up Baker Acted here in FL. But, it doesn't end there because since I live in FL and was Baker Acted because of the medication, now each time I go to the ER for a physical medical problem, the ER wants to talk about my "mental health" instead of the blood coming from my body or broken bone I went to the ER for. So now, I am in the process of selling my home and my business so I can leave the State of Florida because years later, someone phoned in a fraudulent tip that I was suicidal and despite proof that the tip was bogus, I was taken by force and denied my blood pressure medication by a state-run facility for three days until I collapsed from hypertension. It's destroyed my life, so now I have no other choice than to leave the place I love the most because I took this horrible drug."

"My nerve Dr prescribed this awful medication for me without knowing exactly what is wrong with me. I took 300 mg at night & woke up feeling tired, drowsy all day, headache, sore throat & I didn't even have the energy to take a shower. The side effects are not worth it. I stopped taking it after 5 days. I would rather deal with my pain than to take this med. Do Not take this drug. It is awful."

"I've been on Gabapentin for the past 4 years after a severe spinal cord injury that required surgery left me with debilitating neuropathy in all four of my limbs, as well as my back and head. Truly a nightmare experience that had me feeling suicidal. I was prescribed Gabapentin by my surgeon. It took a week or two to get past the 'zombie-mode' phase, but wow. This medication has literally saved my life. I wouldn't be here without it. Was on 1800mg a day the first couple years before having to increase the dosage to 2400mg a day the past couple years. Absolute game-changer. Unfortunately, however, after 4 years of usage, my body has recently built up a tolerance to Gabapentin, and all the neuropathy has come rushing back all over my body. My pain management specialist just recommended I switch to Lyrica, but I'm nervous to do so after reading so many negative reviews about the drug and its potential side effects. But I'm getting desperate as the pain is becoming unbearable again."

"This medication completely stopped all of the pain I experienced, to the point that I had to do a body check each night to see if I had hurt myself during the day. However, within 2 months of starting this medication (a VERY low dose), I was suicidal, and had to be taken off of it at 2 1/2 months. If it weren't for the side effects, I would give this medication a 10. Due to the side effects (horrendous, in my opinion), I've given it a 1."

"I went to a specialist in pain management. 300mg seems like way too much of a starting dose. 100mg for 3 days then 200mg 3 days 300mg 3 days etc. Let's your body get used to it. Go up to 600mg 3 times and then stop. If you don't have relief by then it's unlikely you will. My nerve pain from folfox platinum chemo destroyed my nerves in my hands and feet. This gave me about 50% reduction in pain worth it. Very tolerable site effects. Minimal really. Try but try it right."

"Because of the opiate crisis, my doctor didn't feel comfortable giving me an opiate for pain in my back and shoulder from a nasty fall. But, she gave me this medication and the pain went away and I actually felt happy. A little dizzy but nothing too bad. I recommend this medication."

"I have a rare disorder: MALS (median arcuate ligament syndrome). Eating has been excruciatingly painful, and I have lost 30 pounds within the past five months. I was started on gabapentin, and the pain is now tolerable enough to keep enough down to have gained around ten pounds back. I honestly do not know what I would do without this medication. I also do not have the sleepiness that is warned with as a side effect, which is a big perk."

"I had an intermittent stabbing pain in my thigh that was so painful that it would drop me to the ground. It was so intense that I would stress about it coming back. The only way I could describe it was like be struck by lightening for 10-15 seconds. When I saw my doctor, I was prescribed gabapentin for nerve pain. After the first time I took the pill, the pain was gone. It was a miracle for me! I was worried about possible side effects, even though I knew they were minimal. I took the pill at night so I wouldn't be affected by drowsiness. I had no side effects until I tried going off of the medication a few months later. A couple of days after my last pill, I had a few intense dizzy spells, but it was short lived and worth being pain free."

"This is very effective on my chronic nerve pain. I would love to continue taking this but I had some side effects that became increasingly troubling. The sleepiness was tolerable, but I couldn’t handle the short term memory loss. I’m generally a very well organized. At first I hoped that my memory issues would resolve themselves once my body adjusted to the dosage, however, I experienced the complete opposite. The recall became more and more sketchy, until I had no choice but to cease the Rx. My Dr weaned me off of the meds to confirm that it’s actually the cause of my recent issues. I’m going for a followup appointment in 2 days but I can say with certainty that I feel as if a fog has lifted. I was also experiencing sharp acute pains in my head. Very painful, but fortunately, very brief. They’d only last a few minutes and disappear as suddenly as they’d come"

"Gabapentin was prescribed to me for pelvic nerve pain. I tried it as needed for the 1st 6 months and all it did was put me to sleep and the nerve pain would come back. I decided in May to try taking Gabapentin every day to see if it helped me. I took 600-800mg every day for 2 or 3 weeks. Realized again that it wasn't doing anything for my pain, just making me sort of "high" Decided to stop taking it and thought I could just stop. BIG MISTAKE. I was in a grocery store and thought I was going to have a "melt down" going to cry and freak out for no reason. Got to my car and took 300mg and felt a lot better. Told Dr. and Doc said to take 300mg for a week, then 200mg for 1 week, then 100mg. I am now taking 100mg and sometimes 200mg. I am having lots of anxiety and seems like my heart is racing. I am shocked this is happening to me for taking it for such a short time. I have also had stomach aches. Only positive constipation is gone that I had from hi doses."

"This is the worst medication I have ever had. It almost destroyed my marriage to the most wonderful wife I could ever imagine. It made me really confused, angry like I've never been in my life, up and down and all over the place. I just wanted to lock myself in a room and be by myself which I've never done before. My wife and kids didn't know who I was anymore. Everything about it was awful and I couldn't believe how much someone can change by a little pill. By the way, I got give it from my Dr for chronic back pain after my first back operation. I strongly believe this medication should be band and I can't believe it could ever help anyone with 24/7 pain."

"I was given 300mg of Gabapentin to take at night (I also take 400mg daily of Carbamezapine). The Gaba is v. strong & knocks me out, but since it's @ night it's not so bad. Completely by accident I discovered how depressed I was, because these pills are giving me a new lease of life. My negativity and suicidal tendencies have all gone pretty much. I'm more focused, happy & get on with things. Side effects I get: tiredness, mild confusion/forgetfulness and a hand twitch that makes me almost drop things. P.S. I'm from UK so no insurance I pay scripts. yearly"
