For GERD "Been struggling with GERD for a while, got prescribed famotidine at 20mg per pill. If anything, I’d rather just battle my GERD symptoms without it. Makes me feel extremely nauseous, stomach is constantly churning and making me feel like I need to vomit. If I could give it a 0/10 I would. This stuff is pure garbage"

For Indigestion "I have been on Famotidine 40 Mg tables. I am a Senior 73, and have been staying inside. In March I thought I had maybe gotten the Corona-19, I had sore throat, headaches, about 100 fever, and felt bad. this only lasted about a few days. My doctor just told me to go to hospital if I got worse, but I did not. I started feeling better. So I just thought it was not, but now I wonder if taking the Famotidine help me have a mild case of it. I have not been tested, it was not available."

For GERD "I had the worst experience of my life this morning. I was given this horrendous drug yesterday and took one last night. I woke this morning and literally couldn't breath. Couldn't even talk. Had to rush to A@E. Oxygen levels were low had to have an ECG and was put on a nebuliser. Omg this drug is going to kill someone. Please be careful. Scared me to death and still wheezy."

For GERD "It doesn't do a darn thing for me. I don't even know why I bother taking it. I have to sleep sitting up so that I don't throw up all night from GERD. I have tried all of the major drugs to try to control my condition, but none of them work. Very discouraging. The only thing that seems to help even a little bit is keeping my stomach full at all times (at least when I throw up, it's not bile or acid). I've gained almost 60 pounds this last year as a result of it, though."

For GERD "I took it for a week and didn't have the energy or will to get out of bed. I was 30 years old. Not a crier, but on this drug I started crying uncontrollably, for no reason. Laughing and crying at the same time. It was the worst feeling I've ever had. Told my Doctor about it. He said I needed counseling. I had no idea what was causing those horrible feelings. After talking with several doctors with no help I went to counseling. The counselor looked up all the drugs I was taking at the time and found that it was pepcid. The symptoms were gone in two days after stopping pepcid. I told my Doctor about it, he was amazed that he had never heard of that side effect before."

For GERD "I have GERD, and Irritable Bowel Syndrome. For my GERD, it is cheaper to buy OTC medicines rather than prescription version. I take famotidine 10mg tablets twice day before meals. I take this along with 200mg Cimetidine. For the cimetidine I take 2 tablets twice a day. This therapy works great for me and my doctor is glad I finally found a relief."

For GERD "Yesterday was my first time taking it since I have stomach soreness from food poisoning last week. Right after taking it, I was coughing felt nauseous and it felt like my chest was tightening but it only lasted an hour. I felt tired and had a migraine most of the day. Today, I got the same symptoms of the coughing, Nausea and chest tightness. I am going to call my doctor tomorrow and see what else I can take."

For Indigestion "I've taken it for a couple of years and it has really worked for me. But, for the past 6 months, my pharmacy can not get it, says its on back order and gave me something else. I got a reaction to the new one, so I started taking my husbands. Went back to the pharmacy still on back order. Starting to get very upset and looking for some where else to obtain this."

For Urticaria "While I found this awesome and it got rid of my hives, I experienced a rare side effect it seems. I totally lost my ability to control my bladder. It has become so embarrassing, even though no one sees or knows about it.... kinda personal, ya know. I cannot go anywhere with out worrying about my bladder and sometimes I have left the store as my bladder gives me NO warning and then its a matter of how fast I can get to my car before anyone notices that I wet myself. It's horrible. I have stop taking this and will gladly suffer from the hives that have been randomly occurring since I was a teen. I'm in the 40 - 50 age."

For Urticaria "I was suffering from chronic idiopathic urticaria and angioedema for 6 months. I had been given every antihistamine under the sun, been on and off steroids, had numerous blood tests, and tried everything. Then, I was referred to a dermatologist and he prescribed me Famotidine 20mg. My rash completely disappeared!!! It's a miracle! I still have to be referred to a specialist as I may need XOLAIR, the very expensive injection that cures chronic idiopathic urticaria, but for now, taking Famotidine once a day has kept the rash and angioedema away. Please, if you are suffering from chronic idiopathic urticaria and angioedema, ask your doctor for this drug!"

For Stomach Ulcer "This med really aggravated my IBS and I certainly wouldn't recommend that anyone with this condition take it. I experienced terrible bloating and severe gas pains (like IBS on steroids) and eventually diarrhea. Was told by doc to use this for a suspected large ulcer and possible herniation and ultimately it didn't help much at all with that. Can't get in to see a gastroenterologist until September, but in the meantime no way will I use this again! Also, since I have had issues with diverticulitis as well, can't chance this awful drug again."

Pepcid AC Maximum Strength (famotidine) "For 2 years I would break out with these very painful, and itchy bumps. That would start on my forearms then it would go to my stomach, back and legs. I tried everything from changing laundry soap, bath soap, etc.. Then I finally had enough went to the doctor and she told me to try Pepcid Maximum Strength. Being a Pharmacy Tech I am thinking this doctor is crazy not once in school did I learn that Pepcid treats hives. Well I can honestly say I was wrong. I have been taking Pepcid and Claritin twice a day for a month with no break outs."

Pepcid AC Chewable Tablets (famotidine) for GERD "I bought this due to chronic gastritis inflammation, bad GERD, hiatal hernia, and having Crohn’s IBD. I was told by several doctors that I could use it in between Protonix 40 mg ppi. I have been struggling for the past couple of months with really bad acid reflux to where it burns when the acid hits my intestines. Causes intense diarrhea and with Crohn's squeezing pains you can’t understand less you have it. Crohn’s is horrible, unfortunately. When I took the medication I felt “really off” like I just wanted to drop, felt like I didn’t have control of my nervous system. Laid down, and tried to calm myself down."

For GERD "Was put on omeprazole while in hospital, after 6 month I developed constant nausea and sickness, after speaking with my own local doctor she told me to stop taken them and start famotidine 20mg twice per day, stopped omeprazole on the Friday and started famotidine Saturday, one tablet and within 3 hours the nausea / sickness was gone, couldn’t believe it, only side affects I've had with famotidine is a mild sore head which clears after 10 min roughly, other slight niggle is stomach and abdomen area rumbles and growling loudly later on at nights, really can not fault this drug. Being honest if you get prescribed this try it it has helped me wonders, but time will tell only been on it 2 weeks, looks promising for sure"

For GERD "I have taken famotidine for several years now. My complaints to my Gastro doctor was I got sick to my stomach a lot, or planning for a vacation and by the time of vacation I am sick to my stomach. I didn't like going on vacation because by the time I got there I was sick to my stomach. My Doctor told me he would fix me right up. He said that my throat was slowly closing up and he would go in and stretch my throat. He said the constant reflux was building up something like a scab. He operated on my throat and prescribed famotidine to be taken 20 minutes before eating. I take it at dinner. He stretched my throat and the prescription he prescribed works great of 40 mgs. I feel great with no side effects. I do not look at the side effects because then my imagination would run wild! All I know is I feel great. I am tired a lot but that could come from other medications that I had been using before taking famotidine."

For Indigestion "Like many of the Users on this site, I have found that when CVS required me to use this pill manufactured by Aurobindo Pharma Limited from my prior manufacturer used by Rite Aid (little brown discs) that the Aurobindo product does NOT work, even in the 40 mg pill (designed in a white square with rounded edges with "CC" on one side and "61" on the other side. It is my opinion that this product is a phony and should be avoided"

For GERD "No side effects on Famotidine. Started taking 10 mg in 2005; diagnosed with Acid Reflux and CAD after I had chest and shoulder pains. Famotidine worked well for 8 years; then after more major life stressors, Acid Reflux got worse and I had constant side pain; then diagnosed with Gastritis. Made dietary changes; eventually got better continuing to use Famotidine as needed. Recently, Dr. increased it to 20 mg. Worked well until a few months ago; waking up with frequent sore throat. Bad side pain from 2013 came back, probably from coffee, dairy, and spicy food. Famotidine still gives me relief but bad stomach pain persists. I also had an episode of intense side pain under my right breast and in the shoulder blade. So something more going on — maybe gallbladder. My doctor put me on Prilosec for 14 days while waiting for an ultrasound and CT scan. I still take 1 Famotidine in the morning and it gets rid of the sore throat. Weaning myself off coffee and gave up dairy again."

For GERD "I was prescribed famotidine to help with my GERD and excess acid. First day was fine but the next day was horrible. I had anxiety, cough, muscle spasms in my legs and foot and my blood pressure went through the roof. It shot up to 188/108! I stopped taking it and will go back to Protonix until I can see my GI doc. Really disappointing because it did help my GERD"

For Indigestion "Famotidine is not the most effective thing I've taken for heartburn (Prevacid is awesome but gives me headaches), but it's helpful for cases where Rolaids and Pepto Bismol don't give me relief. I feel just a bit off when I take it, but I'd rather feel out of it for a few hours instead of suffering through wicked heartburn."

For Indigestion "Just wanted to share my experience. I took 20 mg of famotidine to help with heartburn from long Covid and possible side effects from Losartan. I took the pill around noon and it knocked me out cold. I woke up from terrible nightmares and felt like a bus hit me - out cold for over 8 hours later. Terrible flu-like symptoms, felt morose and depressed and felt like a zombie. It took 5 hours to shake it off. What is in this? And its OTC? Horrible drug. (from just one dose!) Beware of this garbage drug. Stay safe."

For Peptic Ulcer "Starred taking this for a month 40mg twice a day for gastritis. Noticed a lot of anxiety after taking it. Plus hallucinations, dizziness, feeling tired. Plus shoulder joints and back hurts. Had heart palpitations. Having hot flashes also. I've cut it down to when I need it. I pretty much feel back normal again. Med works just not worth the side effects. PPI's mess with your absorption of food. You don't get all your nutrients. I think it's messed up my gut. Diarrhea more than usual. Wish I never started it."
