"This is my first time on birth control and I started this pill around the beginning of my first semester. I took it to control my cramping and regulate my period which it has done well for. I have been on this pill for 7 months now. But since starting this pill, I have developed severe digestive problems. I am gluten-free, dairy-free, strictly drink water and hardly eat meat. I couldn’t figure out why my stomach pains are the way they are since I am eating the healthiest I have ever been. My gastroenterologist recommended the low FODMAP diet to reduce the bloating and gas I am having nearly 24/7. The longer I have been on the pill, the worse my digestion system is irritated. I have also gained 30 pounds. I would say this is the typical freshman-15 but according to my daily diet and exercise routine, I don’t think it’s possible. I plan to come off of Tri-Lo-Marzia this week. It is definitely not worth the digestive troubles."

"I don’t recommend this birth control at all for a number of reasons. It caused my skin to break out on my chin and forehead within the first week of taking it and it never got better. I then started having anxiety attacks and mood swings that would make me super sensitive and cry for no reason, which caused me problems at work and within my personal relationships. It also made me nauseous and bloated which wasn’t fun either. I thought that maybe it was just all in my head until I went to a different OBGYN today and she explained to me that she doesn’t like to prescribe people this birth control because of how it works. It gives you a different dosage amount of hormone each week which explains the acne and mood swings. You can avoid a few months/years of suffering by steering clear of this pill."

"I’ve been on Tri Lo Marzia for about 3 months now… and I can tell you I feel like I’m pregnant!! The week before my period starts, I start to have strong aversions to candles, juice, cleaning supplies and meat (just to name a few). I didn’t think much of it the first month I was on it, but after 3 months, I’m now starting to dread my period week. This past week, I’ve thrown up just from the smell of certain things and I’m not sure what to do. Like others have said, your body is very different but this is definitely something I wanted to address."

"I was put on Tri-Lo-Marzia for chronic PCOS when I was about 14. I wish I had been more educated because this medicine made me develop an anxiety disorder. No anxiety medicine worked for me, while on this pill. Which resulted in chronic insomnia for years. I later developed endometriosis and said "enough is enough" and got an IUD implant, and kicked the pills. Which has been working SO much better, for my mental health and pain."
