Apri (desogestrel / ethinyl estradiol) "This might sound weird, but apparently this isn't uncommon for this specific birth control. I have been on it for about 72 hours. Have gained 4 lbs (which is good because I'm 30 lbs underweight) and have almost increased a full cup size with my breasts. I had horrible period problems. when I got the Apri a few days ago I was going on a 3.5 week period. After about 3 hours since taking my first pill, the period fully stopped. Very big fan of Apri!"

Apri (desogestrel / ethinyl estradiol) "I have been on Apri for 9 months. I am on birth control to help intense bleeding and an incredibly enlarged uterus. Please keep this in mind while reading my side-effects. These aren't typical for Apri. Apri has given me all of the symptoms of pregnancy without the baby. I wake up nauseous, I have night terrors almost every night (waking up bawling, and that's not normal for me), and a strange craving for eggs whereas I never really liked them before. I also have slight mood swings that aren't so bad that they can't be controlled. However, it has changed my period length from 10-14 days to 4 days, removed all cramping, regulated my cycle, and saved my uterus. It gets a 7 out of 10 from me."

Apri (desogestrel / ethinyl estradiol) "I have been on Apri for about 6 months now, I have gained only around 5 pounds, but it was not noticeable. My breast size has not changed, and neither has my sex drive. I use this pill for my awful periods. I used to cry and vomit from cramps, now I do not have them at all. I have been using it as birth control as well, and have never been pregnant. I strongly, strongly recommend this pill."

Apri (desogestrel / ethinyl estradiol) "I have been taking Apri for about 2 years now. At first, it was great. My periods were managable, extremely predictable, and only lasted a few days. I gained about 10 pounds in the first 5 months, and shortly after completely lost my sex drive. Recently my periods have been getting longer, as they used to be, and cramps are coming back as well."

"I am a 42 yr old woman. I had my tubes tied at the age of 30 after having my 3rd and last child. Around the age of 36, my periods became irregular. I was having periods sometimes only 12 days apart. Not spotting, full periods. I have been anemic my whole life so that didn't help. I had my hormones checked and was given an ultrasound to see if I had fibroids. Nope! Hormone levels normal as well. My obgyn pushed for me to get the IUD. I got it June 2. Had to have it removed Aug 6!!! Worst decision, besides my ex-husband, that I've ever made! I had bad migraines, bleeding for 2 weeks at a time. I went to my new pcp, I was prescribed cyred bc pills and told to take an 800mg ibuprofen. I feel soooo much better, just in a week!"

"I was originally put on norethindrone for abnormal bleeding, but it gave me spotting, 24/7 cramps, severe bloating, joint pain, no libido, painful sex, and depression. My doctor switched me to enskyce after 2 years because I started getting suicidal, and I've gotta say this medication is a godsend. Do you know what it's like to wake up one day and to just... not be suicidal? For the first week I couldn't stop smiling. All of my other health problems cleared up in the first month too. The only side effect is I don't feel full, but as long as I keep an eye on calorie counts I don't gain weight."

"My GP prescribed me this for painful periods. I have been taking for about 3 months and I am still getting them as well as headaches, tiredness and lethargy. I am also still bleeding and in pain, I would not recommend."
