"I had my first experience of Restless Leg 18 years ago, having to get up about twice a night. It was not until I had to get up 10 times in one night I sought medical help. A very compassionate lady doctor put me onto Paxam which dropped my having to get up to twice a night. I have been on it ever since taking two tablets of 2 mg every night an hour or so before going to bed. It is not often I get a full night sleep and so I go for a walk until my leg sorts itself out. Some nights I find that after my walk (Which I recommend) I sleep in my comfortable arm chair for the rest of the night. At the age of 87, I may as well take if for the remainder of my life."

"I was diagnosed with RLS about 18 years ago and have been on the same dose (0.5 mg) of clonazepam the entire time. It hasn't changed in effectiveness at all. I know it's working because my husband and I were totally exhausted one day last week and couldn't figure out why until I realized I hadn't taken clonazepam the night before and was running a marathon in my sleep."

"I have horrid painful leg cramps ,charlie horses, groin pulls at night and frozen shoulders that lasted for months. Tried Muscle relaxers, cortisone shots , vitamins , minerals, natural remedies, quinine and other medications. Clonazepam .5 at bed time is very helpful. I take it at bed time. Only have severe attacks once or twice a month now.( then I limp out and try a few spoons full of mustard. Yuck ! and things settle down) Plus I can drive again with out leg cramps.and foot cramps. Can you imagine getting a charlie horse and not being able to stop the car. Horrible ! Still get hand spazams while holding cards or sew. I am not an anxious type person. I have no trouble stopping the medication but with in a week or so my cramps return"

"Having suffered for years with RLS and gone thru several sleep study trials, ONLY one doctor dug deeper into my problem. He looked at all my paper work and especially the EEG tape and said I was suffering from "mild" seizures at night and prescribed Clonazepam 2mg for a trial. It was the first time in a long time I was able to sleep soundly thru the night. Only downside, slightly groggy in the morning. He said break it in half and try that. IT WORKED! Have been on it for 5 years and able to have a full nights sleep. Problem now; he retired and the doctor he referred me to doubted his findings and refuses to prescribe Cloazepam, instead wants me to take something else which doesn't work as well. My former doctor says he cannot prescribe Cloazepam or any other drug as he no longer practice medicine. The younger doctor's need to follow the wisdom of the older doctors when it comes to patients!"

"I have an neurological autoimmune disease, most likely M.S. I started having super bad restless legs at bedtime, along with pain in my feet and cramping in my calf muscles. My Dr. suggested Clonazepam. After a week of 0.5 mgs, it was working great, but then by the 3rd week, it was like I never even went on it. It did absolutely nothing, so I started taking 2 pills and that helped for like a 10 days or so, then nothing again. It's like I either build up some sort of resistance to it, or the pill itself has no long term effect. Tonight...Aug 28/2019, I'm trying 1.5 mgs (3 pills) or should I say this morning as it's now almost 3 a.m. and I can't sleep. I'll be back in a week and let you know if 3 pills failed me. I think I'm gonna ask my Dr. for something else. Honestly, I kinda find this drug useless but that's just me."

"I’ve been on Clonazepam at different dosages for more than 20 years. My highest dose being 3 mg at night. The issue I’ve been having for months now is as soon as I take my dose, my RLS goes insane. I don’t understand why so I’ve been slowly tapering my dose to see if this helps. I’m constantly trying to figure out the severe attacks. Too much exercise, not enough exercise, eating something that irritates. This is extremely frustrating and I'm absolutely exhausted. Reading other comments is enlightening and encouraging as nobody can understand RLS unless you have it. Feeling like I have snakes crawling inside my legs. Having bruises from punching my irritated area, no sleep, etc… I’m now wondering if the fact that my MRI showed severe cervical arthritis (waiting for surgery) is causing more pain as I’m having other issues related to arthritis. My goal is to drop down to 1 mg (it will take a while) and perhaps have better results."

"I started experiencing RLS several years ago and didn't think anything of it until my wife started commenting that it kept her awake (along with my snoring). Then I discovered that taking 2 alieve (naproxen) when the rls started would stop it. Eventually I would have to tak another pill around 3 am and then a 4th around 5 am. When I moved to another city my new doctor prescribed clonazepam 1mg. However it only worked after I start experiencing the rls (about 1 hour after I went to sleep). Eventually his did not work and I reverted to the naproxen. However, after a long day I will take the naproxen the clonazepan after I wake up again. That seems to be working... for now."

"MY RLS came on post op of a Total hip replacement .It was wicked . I would get up at 2 AM and go for a walk. I got stopped by the police. They would walk around the block with me until the symptoms went away. Went to my sleep neurologist and she knew immediately what it was. RLS post op is triggered by low feratin levels and/or withdrawal from opiates (pain meds) you need to have your Iron levels checked . I have found a walk late afternoon ,ie mowing the lawn helps . There is stimulation pad made called Relaxis which does work . However it drives my wife nuts."

"When my Dr diagnosed RLS he put me on clonazepam. It worked 100%. I started at 1/2 mg. Then up to 1 mg. Then up to 2mg and now, after 8 years and still going, sometimes I have to take an extra 1mg in the middle of the night. I am groggy in the morning but it could be other drugs doing that. Now I have a new Psychiatrist and he just had an absolute FIT because I am on 2 or 3 mg of clonazepam and he has REFUSED to treat me until I am totally OFF of the clonazepam. What's with that?!?!? It works. But, as many have noticed, it does tend to require more and more for it to work. I am also on tramadol (for back pain) but it does not seem to help RLS. Genetics, I guess,."

"I thank God for the doctor who was willing to give me 0.5 mg of Klonopin for the restless leg syndrome I was having from the horrible dopamine reuptake inhibitors that other doctors were giving me. This drug was like a warm blanket in the cold for me, stopping my twisting and turning within 20 minutes. However, I give it 7 stars because it is not useful for long term treatment, as the withdrawal symptoms can be much worse than restless leg syndrome. Also, one must NEVER drink alcohol with this drug, which is a bummer if you want a glass of red wine. "

"I started taking clonazepam about 15 years ago. I was having the worst time with chronic migraines and this unstoppable urge to move coupled with uneasiness in my legs and body. My neurologist put me on clonazepam 1mg and that first night it was a miracle, I didn't have anymore of those awful feelings. After a few years I have had to increase the dose to keep the effectiveness however, now that I am trying to come down off the drug the withdrawal symptoms are far worse than anything I could ever imagine. If I forget to take a dose or don't have my medication with me the worst dreadful mental and physical symptoms occur. I have tried other RLS medicines but this is the only things that works. Sometimes I wish I never had taken this drug because pharmacists and doctors treat you like a drug addict when they find out how long you've been taking the medicine or how much of it daily. If you are going to be treated for RLS please stay away from Clonazepam....it's not worth it."

"Had to use this drug in 2007. Came off it after a huge struggle. Due to anaesthesia,I have been prescribed it again. Making me very sleepy ,find it hard to concentrate and do everyday things. Scared of the withdrawal symptoms and long term negative effects. The med has been forced on me, wouldn't have taken it of my own free will. If anyone has a choice, they should stay away from it."

"I started taking clonazepam in the 80's for panic attacks. Then in the late 80's I got atrial fibrillation and would take them to calm me down during an episode. I was able to cardio convert to normal sinus rhythm. I can't do that anymore. Now I have permanent atrial fib since April 2017. I'm on Lopressor, Amlodipine and just started Digoxin a few weeks ago. Its working to keep my heart rate below 80. It was over 100 for almost a year. Digoxin can cause restless leg syndrome and I have that frequently. So I take clonopin (1/4 of 0.5 mg) to sleep but afraid to take it on a regular basis. Sometimes I need a half of 0.5 mg. They only prescribe 20 pills at a time. I also have sleep apnea and can be short of breath when falling asleep. I had a full hysterectomy April 23 2018 and May 7, surgery to remove a blood clot. I had been taken off blood thinners for the first surgery. Now I'm in recovery for both surgeries and happy with Klonopin"

"6/6/18 I had outpatient surgery to remove extra tissue around a previous surgery for removal of a dermatofibosarcoma proyunberans cancer. I was in preop for several hours longer than expected and had a rather difficult attack of RLS. Obviously I could not have anything for it. After surgery in the recovery room I woke with terrible RLS, why I don’t understand, but that isn’t the issue. I asked for .25 mg of clonazepam. They gave me Klonopin wafer 0.25 mg tablets. Within 10 minutes my attack had completely subsided. While I understand I just came out of being put to sleep, I had none of the usual side effects from the usual clonazepam I take, and didn’t all night. I would give almost anything not to feel like a slug after taking the regular clonazepam. I only hope my GP will allow me to try this instead of the usual slug inducing clonazepam."

"I’ve had RLS since I was a small child. I’m 21 now and it’s only gotten worse with time. I used to deal with it by slathering on Icy Hot every night but that’s obviously not ideal nor a cure. Earlier this year, I was prescribed 0.5mg of clonazepam for a different reason and it helped my legs sooooo much. Doing my own research, it seems that RLS is mostly attributed to vitamin d and/or iron deficiency with anemia and/or a lack of dopamine. I have all 3 of those things and when I take supplements, I’ve found that I don’t need to take clonazepam to get rid of RLS because it’s nonexistent or very mild. I do take an SSRI and a stimulant which can also trigger it but treating deficiencies helps immensely. I thought I’d put that information out there to anyone reading these who might be concerned about addiction, side effects, or anything else. I am not a medical professional at all, this is just my experience and what I found on google!"

"I used clonazepam for my RLS until my doctor suggested low dose (2mg) ropinirole, which is a Parkinson's medication. I have been taking it for close to 20 years. A bit hard on the stomach but I've had no other side effects. I think it's a better choice."

"Have suffered with restless leg syndrome now for 20 years. Day and night the attacks became unbearable.Tried all the normal medications for parkinsons but made me feel so sick and didn't work until the doctor said try clonazapam she said in her opinion it was one of the best treatments. Excited and the thought of getting a night's sleep I took 0.25 first night and oh man it made it worse .So second night I took 0.5 and again within 20 mins I was really drowsy but the intensity of the restless legs was awful .I've read how this is amazing for some but sadly this drug makes mine worse .I really need help with the RLS because I'm so tired"

"I have chronic insomnia and restless leg syndrome, sometimes I take it when I can't get to sleep naturally. It works very well, even if I have to get up in the night to use the bathroom; I can always get back to sleep. It lets me drift off to sleep within 20 minutes or so, and I'm not bothered by noises that might keep me awake otherwise. It's very gentle and very reliable."
