For Migraine Prevention "Baclofen is a fantastic med! I was on mirtazapine as a migraine preventative but had to stop due to starting tramadol (risk of serotonin syndrome). My migraines are hideous and come with vicious nerve pain down my right arm through my wrist to my pinkie. I take 10mg as needed and it aborts migraines within an hour plus calms the nerve pain that accompanies the migraine."

For Alcohol Withdrawal "It's a very strange feeling getting rid of cravings so easily. For the last 5 years, I've tried different techniques to stop drinking. I used to drink 2 to 4 strong beers a day, and I couldn't stop for more than a few days. I still think about having a beer, but I just don't feel the need to! I'm taking a minimal dose of 5mg three times a day, and it's working. ONE IMPORTANT THING: You have to be willing to stop drinking."

For Muscle Spasm "I have been taking Baclofen for over 5 years for muscle spasms and sciatica. It helps tremendously for the spasms and overall back muscle mobility but does nothing for sciatica pain. This is an outstanding adjunct to an NSAID or other pain reliever. Baclofen has allowed me to completely bend over and put my palms on the floor; something I couldn't do for years. I share the sentiment of an old post that Baclofen off-label significantly decreases my anxiety associated with post-traumatic stress disorder. I take 10 mg three times a day. Highly recommend this for spasms, anxiety, and increased quality of sleep."

For Muscle Spasm "I have multiple sclerosis and limited use of my right arm and right leg. I was given this drug to help with it. I have more trouble walking, I have to use my scooter all the time and it makes me so sleepy. I find myself sleeping until noon then falling asleep late in the evening. I find this medicine not helpful at all. I take 10mg three times a day."

For Alcohol Withdrawal "This medication is just a wonder. I suffered from depression plus alcohol abuse, 1L vodka a day for a long time. My doc was willing to give me a very high dose of baclofen. This is just a miracle... craving almost done... not even willing to get one tiny shot of vodka just for the buzz. Depression gone too, mood increases a lot and sociability has never been so high. I do ponder why this drug is not used more for psychiatric disorders too..."

For Migraine Prevention "I have had chronic migraines daily, morning till night, with blurry vision, vision changes, sensitivity to lights and sounds for 5 years. It got to where I couldn't drive, couldn’t be in stores because of light, could barely be with my grandchildren. I've been to so many doctors and had so many tests, and the remedy or cause had not been found. I started baclofen because my doctor wanted to alternate the muscle relaxers monthly. For the first time in 5 years, I am migraine-free. I feel like a new person. Maybe I can get my life back! I know that it can be hard to come off of at some point, but I think the benefits outweigh the risks. Thank you, baclofen!"

For Muscle Spasm "Stay away from this drug. It is highly addictive. I never had issues with narcotics or alcohol, but I started this medication and realized it was an instant cure for any depression, gave me energy, took away all anxiety, made me happy. The withdrawal is absolutely horrible. The most extreme anxiety you'll ever feel, and it can be deadly as well, since the withdrawal is similar to the withdrawal of benzos and alcohol. It does completely change your brain. After taking this drug, you'll be very depressed and unmotivated."

For Muscle Spasm "Last time I had really bad cramps, several months ago, doctor prescribed 10mg, 3 times a day, for 10 days. I remembered I was a 'low doser' so I took only half a tablet for 6 days. Result was wonderful! Spasms in diaphragm, bilateral waistline, bilateral buttocks, back, shoulders, neck, hands, legs, feet, lowest abdomen, all ceased and desisted in two and a half days. This time, a couple of days ago, I called for a new prescription and then forgot to take half a pill--took a whole 10mg, 3 times a day for two days, as prescribed, and got treated to a whole bunch of weird side effects--intense sleepiness, hallucinations, very shallow breathing, edema, but no cessation of spasms and pain. So now I'll wait several days and try half a pill again."

Gablofen (baclofen) for Chronic Spasticity "I have severe spasticity and this medicine really helps my muscles to relax. I only take 20 mg a day, however, if I do need to take an additional pill for the 'bad days,' I don't suffer any additional side effects...only a bit sleepier by the end of the day."

For Alcohol Withdrawal "Severe alcoholism for over a decade. Tried everything to stop. Started to take this in the morning instead of the first drink. Reduced w/d symptoms: sweating, anxiety, obsessive thoughts about drinking, tachycardia. It took a year or so of using baclofen while working hard to reduce drinking, but when I was ready, it gave me the ability to stop. It treated a host of related problems: panic, tremors from drinking for so long and the embarrassment that comes from that, balancing mood since it helped calm the mind, neuropathy from likely nerve damage, spasms, PTSD. Very dangerous to mix this with alcohol, so if you are not able to control yourself from mixing them to get an exaggerated alcohol effect, don't use it. I think the desire to quit or reduce was essential to its effectiveness. It worked for me the way naltrexone is supposed to. But without the anhedonia (inability to feel pleasure in normally pleasurable activities). I still get anhedonia occasionally, but on naltrexone, it was constant."

For Muscle Spasm "I have been taking baclofen for a couple of months now for severe muscle spasms. Not only does it help those muscle spasms, but I have borderline personality disorder, and this medication has given me a sense of well-being. I also have severe anxiety. I find when I take the baclofen (80 mgs a day), I do not feel anxious, nor do I have anxiety attacks. I believe more research needs to be done on this drug about its effects on different types of mental illness."

For Alcohol Withdrawal "Wow! Is the only word to describe my experience to date. I have read the side effects but my experiences have been very benign. I have had no thoughts of drinking after a multi-month period of increasing usage. My side effects have been an increase in self-esteem, better sleep (although my sleep cycle has changed, and I actually sleep less but have deeper, more restful sleep), waking more refreshed, better mood, focus, and clarity. I don’t see many of these mood-altering properties listed in side effects, but they are real experiences for me."

For Muscle Spasm "I fell and hurt my back 4 years ago. I have suffered from spasticity in my back, legs, and neck ever since. I've been taking 10 mg three times a day ever since. To me, this is one of those drugs that you really can't tell you are taking until you run out. If, for some reason, I miss a dose, I'm miserable. I'm not going to say it removes all my pain because it doesn't, but it does allow me to manage the pain I'm in better. The only side effect I noticed was, when I first took it, I had very vivid dreams for the first few weeks, but that went away quickly."

For Muscle Spasm "I've had sciatica for 20 years. On and off a number of different meds but had negative effects. Had a bad fall on Oct 30, 2013 (I'm 65 and use a walker and canes) and landed square on my coccyx. Oh boy. Doc gave me Toradol pills - nothing, then cyclobenzaprine - bad effect, then BACLOFEN 5MG 3X DAY DOES HELP ME SLEEP AT NIGHT. ON IT NOW FOR A MONTH."

For Muscle Spasm "Was given this drug as opposed to Soma. Started taking 20 mg 4x a day. That was on a Thursday evening, by Friday night, I was not making any sense. My husband finally rushed me into the ER when I couldn't answer questions and would only answer in a single word. I was dizzy, lightheaded, nauseous, vomiting, dry mouth, at one point, I was doing stuff in the middle of the night. I was hospitalized until things resolved."

For Chronic Spasticity "I have been taking the medicine since November 2012. I started at 10mg a day, then 20mg daily, and now at 30mg daily in 3 divided doses. I am on this medicine due to a spinal cord stroke I suffered in July 2012 that left me unable to walk. It was an incomplete stroke though, so as time has gone by, I have been able to use my walker in place of the wheelchair. Over the past couple of days, I have found myself being able to walk seven to ten steps on my own. I attribute this to the baclofen working on the spasticity in my right leg. Side effects were some drowsiness at the beginning, but I am also on tramadol, oxycodone, Lyrica, and morphine, so it may be that some effects were simply masked by these other medications. I give baclofen an A!"

For Alcohol Withdrawal "I drank heavily for 26 years. In a drunken stupor, I called my sibling one evening and told her I was at my wit's end and needed help for my alcoholism. I didn't recall our conversation the next morning, but regrettably, (at least that morning) I let my dirty little secret out of the bag, and she wasn't willing to continue watching me kill myself; so, I reluctantly agreed to get help. Ugh! What a mess I was! I wasn't even in this rehab because I truly wanted to be. I felt so alone and scared. I was certain I would relapse as soon as I got out of there. But! The doctor there placed me on baclofen for a muscle disorder I have, so trust me, this was not a pseudo effect for me! It's been 2 years, and I'm still sober!!!"

For Alcohol Withdrawal "My alcohol dependence started in my mid-30s and has lasted 10 years. I have been hospitalized several times due to it, and I have managed to stay sober for good periods sometimes. But, as others have said, I always felt miserable when I was dry. Baclofen, in combination, has changed my life, I now no longer crave alcohol, and I feel as if my zest for life has returned. I just can't praise it enough. Go Baclofen!"

For Alcohol Withdrawal "A dream come true. I have some serious psychiatric problems, and I'm addicted to alcohol. I slowly upped the dose, and the side effects at 80 mg were vision problems, depression, and confusion, but they went away. Now, 5 weeks later, I quit drinking and feel more confident. Getting there!"

For Alcohol Withdrawal "I managed to pull a muscle in my back during a particularly long binge. I was prescribed Baclofen for the muscle spasm/to help healing, but its major benefit was in the control of the shakes and sweats I normally get when I sober up at the end of a binge. I could barely write my name on the doctor's form before taking this, afterwards, the shakes and sweats were almost totally gone. I took one more 10 mg pill before bed and slept soundly for 10 hours straight (normally, I get persecution dreams and wake with leg/arm kicks, or just lie there in a pool of sweat). This ought to be prescribed for alcohol withdrawal as a matter of course. (I took 2 10 mg tablets about 4 hours apart, the last one just prior to going to bed)."

For Alcohol Withdrawal "It is a fact baclofen took away my craving for alcohol. I am an alcoholic. It is amazing because I had no intention of quitting alcohol. I looked forward to 5 o'clock so I could have a few drinks. The alcohol provided better pain relief than the hydrocodone. With the baclofen, I just don’t need alcohol for my pain and have no desire for alcohol. I have a friend that flat out died from alcohol abuse. I wish I’d known about baclofen. How many alcoholics would quit drinking if they could? More doctors and psychologists need to know about baclofen for alcoholism. This medication can save lives. It’s going to save my liver for sure after many years of nightly drinking. I learned about baclofen and alcoholism first by experiencing it, not reading it."

For Muscle Spasm "Baclofen is sometimes ordered by pain clinics for muscle spasms without consideration for the very bad side effects. Baclofen is given for spasticity. Pain clinics need to understand this. Also not good for the elderly. Pain clinics often use off-label drugs for pain, but patients end up with reactions that can often be severe."

For Alcohol Withdrawal "It's been 7 months now since I quit drinking and have been taking Baclofen and Campral for cravings with great results. I was drinking 1-2 bottles of wine a night and had tried to quit many, many times - lasting from days to a few months. What is very different this time is I am not having to fight myself and constantly 'self-talk' - feel much calmer. I did try a higher dose for a short while (75 mg) but had side effects, i.e., fatigue, swollen ankles, and trouble with 'finding my words.' Now on 30 mg (sometimes 20 mg) and managing well. These meds have been a lifesaver for me."
