For Muscle Spasm "Had severe muscle spasm on Thursday evening and took a total of 2 tablets, one on Thurs. and one on Fri. morning. The following of what happened I have no recollection of, and it has only been told to me. Fri. morning, I was sitting in my recliner and had to go to the bathroom, but I could not get out of the chair by myself. With help, I was taken to the bathroom door. My lady friend could not get me into the bathroom. She said she looked at my eyes and saw my eyes were wide open, but no one was home, and she called EMS. While being transported to the hospital, I stopped breathing, and again in the ER at the hospital. At that time, I was put on life support. After many tests, which all came up negative, it was the consensus that it had to be the medication as I had never taken Baclofen before. After more than a week in the hospital, I am exhibiting no after effects."

For Muscle Spasm "I cannot believe all the negative things being said about this medication. As being an RN and having the unfortunate problem of paralysis from the neck down, I would not be walking today without baclofen."

For Alcohol Withdrawal "I've not drunk alcohol for 4 days. I have been drinking between 1.5 bottles to 2 bottles of wine for the past 1-2 years and finally decided to stop. I stopped three days ago and was worried I would have severe withdrawals, however, since taking Baclofen, I have been absolutely fine (started on a dose of 10mg and gone up to 30mg but this depends on your dependency on alcohol). I have been thinking of alcohol lots, which is expected, but I've been sleeping better than when I do drink (as I normally wake up at 3 am with extreme anxiety or worries in my life) and now don't feel any anxiety. I'm determined to stay on this path and feel proud of myself already. I would recommend studying on the web and looking at all sorts of alternative remedies."

For Alcohol Withdrawal "I had worked with Veterans who used to have back problems and had been on muscle relaxants. They had been using alcohol for years. I used to substitute the much stronger muscle relaxants with Baclofen with their Primary Care Doctor's approval. Results were great! My patients had double benefits: back pain/spasm control and alcohol consumption control. Some of them stopped drinking, others continued to use alcohol socially without problems, discovering life again. I am happy hearing that people find Baclofen being helpful. Good luck to you guys. Merry Christmas and Happy 2015!"

For Muscle Spasm "Been put on Baclofen after taking Valium for a number of years for left-sided spasming due to cluster migraine and fibromyalgia, Bell's Palsy, and Restless Leg Syndrome. It has helped me immensely and helped me move again. I can even walk again."

For Muscle Spasm "I initially took this because of muscle cramps, but was surprised at how easily it helped me fall asleep and feel at ease. I was well-rested and stress-free the next day. I have taken trazodone before for my anxiety, and this was ten times better. Trazodone has nothing on this. Not sure why this isn't prescribed for anxiety and insomnia instead."

For Muscle Spasm "Was prescribed Baclofen 20 mg and allowed to take one half to one pill per night at bedtime. A few days ago I bent over and couldn't get back up. I am active, not old, and fit. Apparently I pinched/compressed a nerve(s) in my sacral area. I was taking methylcarbanal with little relief. My PCP gave me a Toradol shot and Baclofen. Wow! Baclofen worked great but 20 mg gave me a hangover the next morning (no headache). Woozy, drunk, and floaty feeling. Decided it was best not to drive and stayed home. While I am grateful the Baclofen worked, I will be taking 10 mg from now on when needed. 20 mg is just too strong for me at 5'8" and 140 lbs."

For Muscle Spasm "I was put on Baclofen for migraine/cluster headache as a treatment prevention and rescue medicine. It works great for me. It also helps my spasms from having a bladder and kidney disease and ruptured discs. It doesn't help the nerve pain, but overall I think it's better than every other muscle relaxer I've tried. I've had reactions to most and very allergic to Flexeril. I take 20mg up to 4x a day. I'm also okay on Percocet and Klonopin. The 3 make everyday life with constant pain and headaches a lot easier to deal with."

For Chronic Spasticity "I have spasticity (stiffness) in my lower back and right leg due to multiple sclerosis. I had used marijuana for quite a while, and it helped my spasticity but was not good for my cognitive thinking. I stopped the marijuana and began taking baclofen 20 mg x 3/day. I walk and feel so much better. I might not be as aware of how much better I am until I miss or delay taking it. I have experienced no side effects."

For Muscle Spasm "I have a lot of different pains due to fibromyalgia, nerve damage, sciatica, a stroke, and spinal cord disease. I take 1 20-milligram tablet at night only because it does make you very tired. The only time I really noticed it working is when I don't take it, then my pain is much worse."

For Alcohol Withdrawal "I have been fighting alcoholism since my early teens, detoxed by myself, and was dry for 12 years until last March. After two months of serious binge drinking, I ended up in A&E when I decided to detox once again without any suitable medication support. They provided me Diazepam and I cleaned up again, but it only lasted for three months. The vicious circle is much harder to break as you get older. However, now, on Baclofen, I feel a tremendous improvement and do not feel the urge to drink. Indeed, the medicine worked amazingly well from the very beginning of the treatment. However, do address underlying psychological issues, as the medicine is not a magic bullet."

For Alcohol Withdrawal "I had been alcohol-free for 4 months since I started taking baclofen. I have degenerative lumbar scoliosis and have other obsessions (shopping, etc.). I increased the dosage quite quickly to 90 mg but got euphoria, even hypomania, and enuresis (bedwetting) on 2 occasions, which disturbed me. I have now reduced to 62.5 mg. I am still alcohol-free (attending 4 AA meetings a week). My thoughts have slowed down, no enuresis now, and absolutely NO anxiety, no back pain, no shopping. Still only sleeping 5 hours but very calm and alert."

For Trigeminal Neuralgia "Baclofen reduces the chronic pain of trigeminal neuralgia to a great extent. For me, it mutes the pain to a tolerable level. It does not reduce my ability to think clearly, as occurred with the use of various anti-seizure medications, i.e. Trileptal, Dilantin, Neurontin, etc. For me, it does not yet appear to have a reduced effect despite taking it over a long period of time. The side effects for me are relatively benign and, in some cases, interesting. Higher doses cause drowsiness. Lower doses include the following side effects: - Subtle muscle relaxation - Increased muscle tone - Surprising endurance and lack of fatigue at high levels of physical activity - Absence of soreness following the aforementioned physical activity"

For Alcohol Withdrawal "Immediately took away those out-of-control thoughts of must have a drink now. I am on 30mg only at night. It has stopped me from drinking 1-2 bottles of white wine every second day. I can choose to drink occasionally socially if I want. I have a clearer, calmer mind and fewer general body aches and pains. No more need for daily Panadol. My doctor is monitoring my progress closely, and I am generally happier, calmer, and more confident in achieving a healthier lifestyle over time. It is amazing not to have to fight that craving which I always gave in to calm my mind. Giving in to it would make me sick every day. No more drunk means no more sick hangover. Baclofen has released me from the 'drink, repent, repeat' horrible cycle alcohol had me in. Grateful."

For Alcohol Withdrawal "A slow descent into alcohol and cigarette addiction over twenty years finally had me in its grip last year. With too many near disasters to contemplate over the years and a denial system verging on insanity, I was given less than a year to live. From a bright, middle-class male to an unshaven, stinking 8-stone mess, retching, panic attacks, barely able to stand up, hiding bottles, then not caring about hiding anything, alcohol had me. I had multiple seizures before Christmas and in front of my 'friends', was bundled off into an ambulance. I was told very firmly that these were the 'end days'. I had seen others around me die. I bought the book by Amiesen and took his advice. I am now teetotal, healthy, and have no cravings. I am made new."

For Alcohol Withdrawal "I have been a chronic alcoholic for 40 years, eventually drinking 1 litre of bourbon every day for the last 4 years. It took my wife of 14 years to leave me before I saw a psychiatrist who prescribed me baclofen. Now, after just 4 months, I am no longer craving alcohol, my wife and I are reconciling, and my whole life has seen a huge turnaround. I feel extremely confident about not needing alcohol anymore in my life and have baclofen and my psychiatrist to thank for saving not only my marriage but also my life. Thank you baclofen, 'THE WONDER DRUG'."

For Alcohol Withdrawal "I was suffering from alcohol addiction all my adult life (I'm now 47) and in the last few years, alcohol abuse increased to a bottle of Scotch every day. It cost me my family (divorce) which I deeply regret every single day now. Finally, I went to First Step Drug & Alcohol clinic with a little hope, and Dr. J.G. prescribed me Baclofen 10mg tablets once or twice a day. When I looked up in the dictionary, it said this medicine is used for sclerosis treatment only. But Baclofen created a miracle: I went through the pain of withdrawal with great ease, didn't have cravings, and stopped drinking. After a few months, I started drinking beer. I went to my GP, and he refused to prescribe Baclofen for me because he knows nothing about Baclofen to help alcoholics."

For Alcohol Withdrawal "I have been on baclofen for 2 months now to help me stop drinking and started at 5 mg and slowly titrated up. I’m now on 60 mg and have no desire to drink. If I’m at a social event, I’ll have a glass of wine, but I drink it very slowly, and most of the time don’t finish it, which was highly unusual for me. If I started a glass of wine, I would always end up drinking 4 glasses. Baclofen is the best thing that ever happened to me."

For Muscle Spasm "I have severe back pain and nerve impingement. I have tried at least 7 medications that are used to treat this disorder. There are some that work better, but the side effects make it impossible to live a normal life. There are those that don't work at all. This is the only medication that I have taken that allows me to live a normal life. I can sit in a chair or ride in a car without my back spasms killing me. Baclofen is the only medicine I have found that allows me to work without spasms and not be so fatigued like a zombie."

For Alcohol Withdrawal "I am taking baclofen, have stopped craving alcohol for some time now. I have side effects: feeling tired, shortness of breath, seeing things, twitching, etc. I’m so happy with the change in my life, thanks to baclofen, the side effects don’t even come close to the side effects of drinking. I am happy, and life is amazing, the best thing I’ve ever done, and I am in control of my life now. Amazing and life-changing."

For Muscle Spasm "I have developed chronic back pain and muscle spasms in my low back that have progressively gotten worse over the last 40 years. The muscle spasms increased to over a dozen events in a day. After 10 failed steroid injections from multiple doctors and four abalations, I was resigned to live with the pain and medically retire. Baclofen has reduced the number of spasms and their intensity to about four events in a week! I too experienced sleepiness for the first couple of days. With the intensity and number of spasms reduced so low, pain management has been much better. Time will tell if I have to reconsider early retirement."

For Alcohol Withdrawal "I have an alcohol habit since 17 years old (now I am 57). Each day, I used to drink two liters of beer or equivalent (wine, whiskey, vodka, etc.). Each morning when I wake up, I regret myself for the night that I abused alcohol. Alcohol was always my close friend and major staff in my whole life. I didn't think a life without alcohol was possible. I want to be sober at least one week before I become a grandpa :)). In the end, I started to take baclofen at 20 or 30 mg. After one week, I am still thinking about alcohol but don't want to drink like the old days. I believe it works."

For Migraine Prevention "I want to advise people that yes, this drug works to help reduce migraines and muscle spasms. However, I feel obligated to advise you that if you use this drug, even in small doses on a daily basis, you may/will have some severe withdrawal symptoms (i.e., depression, insomnia, nausea, more spasticity, mood swings, hallucinations, and more). The sad part is doctors love prescribing drugs to medicate but so often do not give you the whole picture. I was not advised of the withdrawal symptoms even after weaning myself off of this drug. Please do your research before taking ANY drug."

For Muscle Spasm "I have a partial spinal cord injury and have lots of muscle spasms everywhere. For a few months after my SCI, I had minimal spasms and was on 90 mg/day. I am 4 years out from my accident and my spasms are worse. Now I take 120 mg/day (30 mg 4x/day). I still have a lot of muscle tone (spasms) and we are discussing putting a baclofen pump in that will pump baclofen directly onto the spinal cord. How do I know baclofen works? On occasion, I have missed my 10 pm pills and by morning my muscles are so tight I can't move. I believe the maximum dose is 90 mg/day but the doc put me up to 120 mg to give me more relief. I'll be on it for life. Great stuff, wouldn't be able to move without it. I have had no side effects even with the elevated dose."

For Muscle Spasm "I had 2 laminectomies at L4/L5, and the first one failed in 6 years. The second has been holding its own, but scar tissue has formed, and the discs above and below are impinging the nerve slightly. After 2 years of trying every muscle relaxer, my pain management doctor used Baclofen 10mg 3 times daily. I noticed improvement within a week, and now, in combination with Cymbalta 60mg daily, I can walk on my right leg without having to sit down every 5 minutes. I don't have any side effects from Baclofen like Flexeril, where I would drag all day and then the next day feel hungover and could not get off the couch."
