Butalbital Compound (aspirin / butalbital / caffeine) for Headache "I have been taking a Butalbatol compound with actominaphen and caffeine as needed for 3 years to resolve migraine headaches. I have been thru the gamut of other pain meds prescribed by several neurologists, but Butalbatol is the only one that works in the short term. Also I notice it is not addictive."

Fiorinal (aspirin / butalbital / caffeine) for Migraine "I have had migraines since the age of 12. I have taken Fiorinal for 50 years. Once I get an aura, I take one and I'm done. This medicine is amazing. The ones who want to take it away are the ones who don't suffer. I've never had a problem with this drug. They need to focus on improving what they can't fix, like cancer."

Fiorinal (aspirin / butalbital / caffeine) for Migraine "November 2015, I saw my doctor about headaches - he saw a correlation to 'a stubborn cold' which I did not have active signs of and suggested OTC meds or later prescribe meds with steroids. The major problem with my 'bad' headaches diminished until a week before Christmas - migraines, not just bad headaches. On Wednesday, 1/6/2016, I went to an emergency clinic and was prescribed Fiorinal, specifically to address migraines. Any time my headaches were severe, I ate and took two Fiorinals. The pills did nothing to diminish my headaches. Instead, I napped often with a blindfold. Today, 1/11/2016, I took two before work. I rated my migraine at 7-8 out of 10 (high pain). At work, took 1 OTC (brand name) Migraine pill; rate a 4."

Fiorinal (aspirin / butalbital / caffeine) for Migraine "I have been using this drug since close to FDA approval in 1976. No side effects, works within ten minutes. Doctors have tried to get me to use "newer" drugs but this one works like a charm. When I was younger I used it at least twice a month now only use it twice a year if at all."

Fiorinal (aspirin / butalbital / caffeine) for Headache "I've taken Fiorinal for about a year, initially it was great. One pill would totally knock out a headache. Little drowsy for about 30 minutes and I was good to go. Started having to increase the the number of times I take it about 4 months ago, started having abnormal vaginal bleeding; my doctor thinks it's the aspirin and the fact that I've had to take more. Aspirin is a blood thinner. I switched to Fioricet, same drug, but replaces the asprin with Tylenol. Back to normal now. Try Fioricet if Fiorinal dosen't work for you."

For Migraine "I'm a 72 year old male who has hereditary migraines (inheriting from my mother and passing it on to my son) from my early teens. I've been to countless neurologists prescribing any and all migraine medications, none worked except this compound with added codeine. I experience an initial aura (loss of partial vision) with the deep pain oncoming within a half hour. This may be combined with nausea. The onset of relief from this medication coincides with the pain onset perfectly. 2-3 hours of a dark room and rest and the episode is over. I carry this medication everywhere I go, it is indispensable!"

For Migraine "Started taking about 6 or 7 years ago. This has been the one medication I don't have wild side effects with, like panic attacks or seizures or swelling. This medication helps with about 80%of my migraines. Most of the time relieving at least 50% of the pain if not most or all. It always helps at least dull the pain enough to go about my day to day. It has been the best rescue medication I have tried. I used to suffer from migraines at least 15 to 20 a month. 7 or 8 of those severe. I have not had severe migraines since. (Severe: where I wanted to shove an ice pick in my temple to make it stop, or smack my head into the wall, couldn't hold a conversation, couldn't walk, see or hear. Constant nausea and vomiting)"

Fiorinal (aspirin / butalbital / caffeine) for Migraine "I suffered as a young child from severe migraines. One doctor, by a miracle, prescribed Fiorinal. It literally saved my young life. I am old now and still use it, though headaches are much less. You will not believe it, but when I do use it, I even get relief from my idiopathic neuropathy. It is truly, for me, a miracle drug. I never got addicted. I never abused it, but to this day, I still use it. Not every day, but I definitely still use it, and I am 82 years old now. Everyone is different, but again, for me, a miracle and remains so to this day."

Farbital (aspirin / butalbital / caffeine) for Pain "I have taken this off and on for headaches/migraines over the past ten years, going months between needing it. It was not addictive even when taken daily for several months because of hormonally aggregated headaches, but provided substantial relief versus Over The Counter meds."

Butalbital Compound (aspirin / butalbital / caffeine) for Migraine "I've always used butalbital/tylenol/caffeine combo. I have found that the manufacturer depends on how well it works for me. When its a good manufacturer it works very well. Still wondering if this has tylenol why do my ears ring? If too much motrin they ring & I never take aspirin. Anyway that's my experience."

For Migraine "1960s Doctor said I was having growing pains and the headaches were something I had to live with. 1970 Med-school friend told me of Fiorinal when I told him I was starting one of those blinding 3 day headaches. 2 tablets and 20 minutes later the pain was gone. (Worst tasting medicine ever!) I carry a cylinder with 2 capsules now and forever. Recently insurance got weird spouting that I was going to get addicted to the pills. Duh, terrible addiction, I take 2 caps about every 2 weeks when needed."

Fiorinal (aspirin / butalbital / caffeine) for Migraine "I have been getting these nasty migraines for sometime now, and not even three percocet's work on it! I called the doctor last night and she called in a prescription for Fiorinal. I went and picked it up and took one tablet and within 1/2 I had some relief, then finally 1 later no migraine! Yesterdays migraine started at 1 pm and lasted until about 8 pm. I am still neutral about this drug, however I don't have a migraine today so I think it might have worked! I would like to hear more relief/non-relief stories if possible."

Fiorinal (aspirin / butalbital / caffeine) for Migraine "I’ve used this prescription drug for maybe 25 years. Always effective, and quick results. If taken as soon as the aura begins, most times I avoid the migraine all together. Over the years doctors have had me try a myriad of other options. All either didn’t work; or caused significant side affects. As for addictive properties, for me… not at all. I may use it a few days in a row (I call it my “migraine rut”) but never feel the need to continue it otherwise."

Fiorinal (aspirin / butalbital / caffeine) for Migraine "I have suffered from migraines since I was in grade school; I'm now 40. I didn't know about treatments until I started college. Midrin had worked wonders for me for years...and then it stopped. Fiorinal and many of the triptans did not compare; they took longer to take effect and I could not deal with some of the side effects. I have started seeing a well-known neurologist who has finally gotten me on the right treatment (topiramate to help control the frequency of migraines and Relpax to help at onset of migraine attack). It feels so good to actually have normal days!"

Fiorinal (aspirin / butalbital / caffeine) for Migraine "I have suffered with migraines since elementary school. I am now 23. I finally got a doctor to prescribe me a perscription. I have taken fiorinal for about 3 weeks now. It is not helping at all. Putting a heating pad on my head works better than it does. Hopefully I can try something else."

Butalbital Compound (aspirin / butalbital / caffeine) for Pain "Although it is my go to immediately upon rising because I already have pain. It helps until mid morning then another dose does little or nothing somedays. I have to find something else in this family of drugs. I have been on it for 8 years. Maybe it's just not as effective as at first"

For Migraine "I have been diagnosed as having New persistent daily headache. That means every single day, ALL day for the last 5 years I've had a headache that varies from just a headache to a full on borderline debilitating migraine. I have noticed that this medicine does offer some relief for me. I am sensitive to a lot of medications and also allergic to many. I noticed with this medication, when I do take it, I often feel like I want to take more. Even after the medication has made my headache tolerable I literally think about this medication. To me, that shows it can definitely have some addictive tendencies and for a person whose condition is not likely to go away this could be a real issue. this is more for a once in a while migraine."

Butalbital Compound (aspirin / butalbital / caffeine) for Migraine "Been on a combo of fioricet, tramadol, flexeril. Worked great. Was on for more than 25 yrs, now can't find a dr to prescribe them . They act like the barbitiuate in it is as dangerous as codiene or cocaine. Really? been on it most my life. I was on a pretty high dose, 2 fioricet, 2 tramadol, one flexiril all 3x daily. But,,, not near the migraines I do now. Oh, don't forget the zofran for nausea. I have a migraine now and last 4 days. Nothing to take but ibupro, so hard on my esophagus and stomach."

For Migraine "I have suffered from migraines since I was 8 years old. I am 51 now. After aspirin stopped working a doctor prescribed Fiorinal #3. This medication works after 30 minutes. Menopause has increased the intensity and duration of my migraines. I have to take Fiorinal once a day now. If it was not for this medication I would be in bed unable to work and support myself."

For Migraine "I have had migraines for 10 years, since I was 14. I have been on several preventative medications but finally found a combination that works. I currently take 25 mg of Topamax in the morning and 50 mg of Topamax at night. After all my years of seeing a neuorologist my family Doctor wrote a script for the Butalbital Compound and it has changed my life! I can take 2 when I start getting the aura and usually knock it out. If the migraine is too much for that to handle I'll take a Norco and lay down in a dark room. Overall this combo has really changed my life. Love this medicine."

For Migraine "Have been taking Fiorinal and fioricet w/codeine for many years to control chronic migraine and cluster headaches. I have found them to be very effective. I rotate the two meds to help prevent liver/kidney and stomach problems. Need to be very aware of rebound or medicine overuse headaches. Overall, they have been life changing for me because other treatments such as Triptan were unsuccessful."

Fiorinal (aspirin / butalbital / caffeine) for Migraine "This medicine is frequently prescribed to me when I end up in the ER for a particularly bad migraine. It does very little for my headaches, dulls the pain a bit for several hours and then once it wears off, I'm back to square one. Not practical for me to take this one unless I have the day off from work."

For Migraine "It really helps with headaches and migraines. It works well my allergy and sinus medicine. I experience horrible migraines since I fell last year and the sinus allergies that I had before the fall are bad but the throbbing migraine with them is very painful. I don’t drink alcohol or do illegal drugs; all because I don’t handle the after effects well so don’t. Since I hit 63 and fell last year I’ve had migraines (when I fell I did not hit my head) as bad as debilitating hangovers for example. I can take the butalbital, aspirin, caffeine 59-325-40 and within a thirty minute span my migraine headache is easing and within an hour I can handle the day with some what of a smile"

For Migraine "I have chronic tension headaches. I used to take the fioricet with Tylenol, and honestly I wish I was on it again. I wanted to see how my body reacted to aspirin- IT HATES IT! My migraine worsens, hot and cold flashes, and I get intense nausea that makes me run for a trash can almost less than 5 minutes after ingested. It does help sometimes, but The side effects weigh out the benefits. The Tylenol caffeine butalbital works wonders for tension migraines. I've tried most medicines and fioricet is the only kind that helps. Too much causes rebound headaches so don't over do it! And overdoses ARE POSSIBLE in large AMOUNTS. Butalbital is a barbituate and is LETHAL. Read the warning labels!!!"

For Migraine "I started having migraines after the birth of my second child. At first I was able to tolerate them, then I started treated them with Extra Strength Tylenol then Excedrin PM. They progressively got worst. This was the 4th medication my primary doctor prescribed and they really helped but my neurologist said 70% of patients suffer rebound headaches from it. He said to use it occasionally (3-6 times/year). Now I'm on preventive medication (daily dosages) with this as a back-up when a severe migraine hits."
