"I have been prescribed this medication for pins and needles and crawling sensations in my face and head. I’m on it one week and already noticing a reduction in these symptoms. No obvious negative side effects as of yet. Will update later if necessary."

"I took one 10mg amitriptyline to treat Central Pain Syndrome, which is severe, constant nerve pain resulting from a damaged nervous system (caused by Lyme disease.) When I woke up the next day, my face, hands, and ankles were so swollen, making the pain even worse. I am MISERABLE. Called my neurologist after one dose and told him absolutely not. I had the same problem with Lyrica and I’m so desperate for relief I don’t know what to do. Despite my poor health, I am generally in good spirits or at least calm, but amitriptyline made me feel agitated and I hate feeling like that without having any reason to feel that way. I will never touch this medicine again."

"I’ve taken this for chronic pain, sleep & intractable migraine prophylaxis since 1984. Otherwise, MD was going to place me in medical induced coma for deadly insomnia (only 1-2 hrs sleep daily for months). Came off twice unsuccessfully & nearly miscarried fetus 3X. It is a wonder drug that has helped immensely for decades at a very small dose."

"I had chronic headaches as well as depression and anxiety. 10mg of Amitriptyline has stopped all headaches, and I generally am in a better mood. I'm not sure whether it is actually helping my depression chemically, or reducing headaches to put me in a better mood, overall it’s definitely helped."

"Varies in time for effect on sleeping. Moderate nerve pain relief noticed following day, if you haven't fallen out of bed in the night. I will normally take 50 mg per night but not every night as I don't like waking up on floor. For sleeping, can take 30 mins to 2 hours to work. So no late meals. Caused me to nod off at work following morning DURING calls. I'd wake up and be talking to a new patient! No one seemed to notice luckily as phonelines were quite bad. And I always requested late shifts anyway, due to meds. But I do mind about falling out of bed. But then I mind about sciatic pain it sucks."

"Had trigeminal neuralgia 16 days after shingles on right side of face. Took amitriptyline 25mg for 8 weeks. My scalp pain 6/10 was instantly gone on first night but facial pain 4/10 persists till today since July 2020. I'm using heat compress only for relief now."

"I take 50 mg before bed for peripheral neuropathy in my feet due to a severely herniated disc in my lower back. My other options were surgery and spinal injections. It was a no-brainer. This drug changed my life. I've never had to increase the dosage in over 6 years. At this low dosage, the side effects are minimal, and it's a low-cost drug."

"I've been taking amitriptyline for a few years now to manage headaches caused by Chiari Malformation. This medication has restored my life to almost normal. When I started the medication, I was experiencing approximately 25 Chiari headaches daily. With continued use of this medication, I now have Chiari headaches once a month or less. I don't want to consider what my life would be like without this life-changing medication."
