ProAir HFA (albuterol) for Asthma, Maintenance "First time using this inhaler, I noticed it did not dispense properly and after two puffs within an hour of using I had a horrible allergic reaction, my entire face was itching and red, Had to take a Benadryl, the next day I was still itching and inflamed. I never had this problem with the ProAir HFA inhaler."

ProAir HFA (albuterol) for Asthma, Maintenance "ProAir is the worst inhaler ever made. My job's rx plan used to cover Ventolin and Dulera. I used the Dulera once in the morning and once at night. Ventolin in emergency situations. The Dulera helped manage my asthma. When I did need to use the Ventolin inhaler, it delivered a strong blast that opened up my airways. As mentioned before, my job's rx plan stopped covering it. So I had to use my inhaler more often. Then they stopped covering the Ventolin. When I had to get the ProAir, I noticed the difference right away. The blast was very weak. Plus the container gets clogged 8/10 times. My son has asthma as well and he has autism. What is one of us or both have to use this cheap inhaler and nothing comes out? I'll you what would happen......we wouldn't be able to breath because the damn thing doesn't work. How can this device be clogged so much? Why is this inhaler even allowed to be sold? We all should band together and sue the makers of ProAir."

ProAir HFA (albuterol) for COPD, Acute "I have Stage 4 COPD. I used Ventolin for several years until insurance company would no longer pay for it, I had to switch to Proair. What a waste of money. This rescue inhaler is a joke! This stuff is like using "NOTHING" at all. They need to take off the market ASAP before it kills someone who can not breathe. My Lung Doctor has to send a letter of "Medical Necessity" every year for me to be on it & them pay for my trusty Ventolin. Also Proair has "Ethanol" in it & needs to be taken off the market."

Ventolin (albuterol) for COPD, Maintenance "Express scripts gave me the VENTOLIN inhaler instead of PROAIR, the design of the inhaler did not work as well for me. It seems like the time (1/100th of a second?) that the medication is delivered is too short to "catch" during an inhale. I called my doctor and changed back to PROAIR."

For Asthma, Maintenance "I received the Albuterol HFA inhalers from Express Scripts manufactured by Perrigo. They are absolutely awful. First of all they do not work. They also have a terrible smell and taste. I have used this medication for numerous years and have never once had this experience. As others have mentioned the medication canister is almost impossible to remove from the mouthpiece making cleaning an issue if the inhaler gets clogged. I would hope that Perrigo revamps this medication as I am completely willing to pay more for meds that work."

ProAir RespiClick (albuterol) for Asthma, acute "This new inhaler is terrible. Just ask the doctor for my old inhaler back. Even worse. My insurance insists I use this new one and doesn’t cover my old style inhaler. Gonna have to pay more so I can breathe. Terrible idea."

Ventolin (albuterol) for Asthma, acute "Hi- I just wanted to add my two cents to the conversation regarding Ventolin. Ventolin does NOT help me at all when I have an asthma attack. I use Pro-Air and though it is not great it at least helps me to get a breath and breathe. Yes, I've been told numerous times they both contain Albuterol. All I can figure is the inert ingredients are not the same or possibly where they are manufactured, ventolin (UK), Proair (US). I surely wish Ventolin (salbutamol) helped me, it's the only inhaler my insurance covers/pays for and Proair costs me $70 a month to not go to hospital. Sometimes ginger tea helps me till I can get a refill. Hope this review helps someone."

ProAir HFA (albuterol) for Asthma, acute "If I could give the Pro Air HFA inhaler a zero rating I would. They are very expensive and clog after just a few puffs so your money is down the drain. I have a whole drawer full of them still mostly full but clogged. I have tried rinsing the holder with hot water and letting them dry completely (even used a blow dryer) and they will work for a few more puffs then clog again. My insurance limits on which albuterol inhaler I am allowed to get and Express Scripts pushes the Pro Air HFA. I am sure it is because we have to keep ordering to replace clogged ones."

Ventolin HFA (albuterol) for COPD, Maintenance "I am a cancer patient who developed COPD following chemotherapy and radiation. I use Ventolin for those times I am suddenly short of breath. I’m reviewing Ventolin to respond to several comments that the inhaler stops working before all of the 204 uses have been used. This was happening to me — several times — and was frustrating: insurance only allows refills every 30 days, and my co-pay is expensive. I took my inoperable Ventolin in and complained to my pharmacist. The counter indicated 75 uses remaining — I had wasted 10 attempts trying to get medication dispensed. My pharmacist removed the canister from the dispenser and rinsed the dispenser under very warm water. I let it air dry for ages She reassembled the inhaler and it worked perfectly! Ventolin has been very important in “rescue” occasions when I very suddenly and without warning cannot breathe. This happens so unexpectedly that I don’t go anywhere without my Ventolin inhaler."

Ventolin (albuterol) for Asthma, acute "I can't believe I suffered so long before I went to the doctor and he prescribed Ventolin to me. It has made my breathing so much easier. The only negatives at all is sometimes I'm dizzy for a while after using it, but that's to be expected."

For Asthma, Maintenance "I have been on albuterol for years. NEVER have I had a nasty aftertaste, like the inhaler from Perrigo. Since using this Perrigo albuterol inhaler my tongue felt raw, the aftertaste when I exhale is nauseating. Not to mention, the inhaler itself is bulky, difficult to open and seal tight so I can't wash it. I feel this is a dangerous product. I ordered a new inhaler and had to wait for a few days. I began to realize I hadn't been getting relief when I finally got the new inhaler. 2 puffs and I'm a really breathing well again. Perrigo needs to be investigated"

ProAir RespiClick (albuterol) for Asthma, acute "Who designed this thing? You have absolutely no idea if you’re getting medicine or not. For a device you rely on to save your life, you just need to believe that maybe it worked, maybe it didn’t? And when you’re already short of breath, sucking hard to get the medicine out is not really an option. On the flip side, it makes you want to keep giving yourself dose after dose after dose because there’s no indication whatsoever that you’re ever getting any medicine. Horrible horrible product!!"

ProAir HFA (albuterol) for Asthma, acute "Due to weather and humidity along with smoke in the air ended up with breathing problems. Used a Prepair Inhaler DID NOT WORK. My wife found a Provental Inhaler in her purse (carries for me in case if Asthma problem) INSTANT RELIEF with the Provental Inhaler. I think 2nd class item Pro Air needs to be taken off the market!!"

ProAir HFA (albuterol) for COPD, Acute "I have been using this medicine for many years and it really works for me. I walk everywhere, and going up hills it really comes in handy. I however do not like the new design, it tells you how much you have used, which is the good part, but the bad part is it clogs up too easily. The old one clogs as well, but takes longer to do it. I personally have not noticed any side effect of this medicine. The old albuterol inhalers made my heart race, this one does not."

For COPD, Maintenance "I have used ProAir HFA for decades without problem. For reasons unknown to me I have been switched to Perrigo. So far I have used four of their actuators. Of the four, two have been messed up but in different ways. Both basically stopped functioning slightly more than half-way through the 200 metered dosages. The actuator is too big and awkward and you can't easily get the canister out for cleaning. That process actually requires pliers! I hate these and want to go back to what I had before but I'm not sure ProAir HFA is still even being produced! Who do I ask? My doctor? Pharmacist? Insurance company?"

ProAir RespiClick (albuterol) for Asthma, acute "Neither myself or the pharmacist could get anything out of this inhaler. We put it on a black surface, click the inhaler and banged it on the black counter and absolutely no powder or mist came out. We did the black surface test after I took the thing back because I could get NOTHING out of it."

For COPD, Maintenance "My doctor put me on a dosage of 2 puffs every 4 hours as needed but when I used this amount I developed almost continuous anxiety attacks, insomnia, back and arm pain, wheezing, muscle spasm and jerking in extremities, and pounding in my ears. I was greatly distressed until I read this article and discovered that all of these symptoms are side effects of the albuterol."

For Asthma, Maintenance "I am using Perrigo albuterol inhaler for the first time. It's horrible!! The dispenser is so awkward. It's hard to hold. It's difficult to press down on the albuterol canister and there is a guard around it that sticks up too high. It's hard to know whether a dose has been delivered or not. Terrible design of an inhaler! I am thinking it would almost be worth paying the extra $30 just to get Ventolin."

ProAir RespiClick (albuterol) for Asthma, acute "I ditto every negative response to the use of this product. I thought I was using it wrong or something was wrong with me. The people who stated whoever made it has no clue what it’s like to have to suck in when you have an attack, is totally correct. Did they even have product testing and trials before putting in the market. What about the FDA quality control???"

ProAir RespiClick (albuterol) for Asthma, acute "Like the others say, the ProAir ResiClick is not effective. Sucking as hard as you can to get medicine to your lungs did not help during an asthma attack. The old method inhalers are far superior. I wheeze terribly still after using. Do not recommend."

ProAir RespiClick (albuterol) for Asthma, acute "I have watched videos on correct usage, it is NOT user error. This does not work for me at all. With the old inhaler, I could feel, even taste the medicine. I could feel my lungs relax. This one... I feel nothing. my lungs feel just as tight as before. This is a piece of garbage and the Teva company should be ashamed of this product, 300 patents wasted. 3M tried this type of inhalator 20 years ago and that was proven to not deliver medicine either. Please learn from the mistakes of the past companies."

ProAir HFA (albuterol) for Asthma, acute "I'm 53 and have had acute bronchial asthma my entire life. ProAir is by far the least effective and most problematic delivery system for albuterol I've experienced. While the inhalers are supposed to have 200 metered dosages, they fail through leakage and clogging. We realistically average 50-75 uses per inhaler. Air travel almost always destroys usability. Because of clogging and priming, actual dosage is inconsistent with this particular brand. It is a health hazard, a deeply flawed delivery system that endangers patients. DO NOT RELY upon a single inhaler if you use ProAir as even "full" and "brand new" units are prone to immediate failure."

Proventil HFA (albuterol) for Asthma, acute "I have allergy-induced asthma, not true asthma. (sometimes my allergies and sinuses get so bad I get asthma attacks"). My allergy doctor prescribed Proventil HFA to me last year and though I don't use it often, it has helped when I needed it. Only one downfall, it makes me SO jittery. This is a common side effect because you're basically getting a shot of adrenaline in each puff. I find it's best to walk/move around a little after taking it to help wear off the jitters. Because of this side effect, I only use it when I really need it."
