Oxycodone and hydrocodone are stronger than Tylenol 3 or 4.
Are Oxycodone 10 mg stronger than Tylenol 3?
Yes they are stronger.
tylenol with Codeine #3 is basically just tylenol with the narcotic Codeine in it and it can come in different strengths. Codeine is actually a natural opiate. Oxycodone can come with tylenol too and that is Percocet, endocet, Roxicet, and a few other names that I can't remember right now, Oxycodone is actually a synthetic opiate, but it still comes from Opium. Hydrocodone also comes with Tylenol and the brand name is Vicodin and it too is a Synthetic. bottom line is they are all narcotic pain meds and they can be used to treat other conditions. I do know that some people who are allergic to codeine, Myself included, can often take Oxycodone and Hydrocodone with no problems. Hope this helps!
I am allergic to hydrocodone or any derivative of it. It make me super sick and causes me to puke A LOT! So the drs tried the Percocet/ oxycodone and I don't get sick from it. It has to do with the different ways they process them that cause my reaction the dr said
tylenol gives me horrendous bloating & gas; contrary to other answers, hydrocone IS available without tylenol as that's what i was prescribed when i complained about the effects of the tylenol
I am also allergic to codeine. I needed to know if I could take the oxycodone safely. Your post completely answered my concerns. Thank you!
@ hfiscus1989 & others with the same reactions to the medication- I had the same issues getting sick from the hydrocodone. I have a solution for you given to me by my pharmacist. It actually is NOT an allergy, but rather the way in which your brain processes the drug. If you take motion sickness pills with that type of reaction, you will not get sick. I tried it & it works. Best of luck to you all. I hope you find good relief from your pain.
I take perocet daily and have run out. My dtr has given me some Tylenol w/codine. I'm curious if it will help till I can get my rx filled? Is it strong enough I'm curious. Im feeling ugly.
Thank you, very helpful. I am allergic to Tylenol w/ Codine 3 but can use Oxycodone no problem.
Thank you finaly received a real answer.
maso has given a great answer.
I'll boil it down to one sentence; hydrocodone has tylenol in it, oxycodone does not, it is narcotic ONLY.
Best wishes,
Lara
Hi pal!
Hey buddy!OLO
You are wrong. Perks are usually percribed with Ty in it. But you can also get Perks without the Ty in it too . I take 5mg Perks/325 Ty. So to say Perks only have Oxycodone in it no Ty has no idea what they are talking about. Also. You have to take 1.5. #4 pills to = 1- 5mg /325 perks
With a few exceptions most drugs with 'cet'at the end of their name have acetaminophen in them.
Oxycontin (brand name) is oxycodone.
Percocet, Endocet, Roxicet, Tylox, Primlev, Xolox, and Magnacetis are oxycodone with acetaminophen
Percodan has aspirin in it.
Hydrocodone is hydrocodone
Hydrocodone with acetaminophen Brand names are Lortab, Norco, Vicodin
Wrong oxycodone has Tylenol in it. Roxycodone does not.
Apparently you don't have to know what your talking about to answer a question.. both hydrocodone and oxycodone have Tylenol in them. However oxycontin doesn't. It is a narcotic only. I know this is an old thread but when I ran across it I thought I'd correct the answer
I honestly can't believe the answer from.. RT.. retired from pharmacy. I guess maybe whoever thought the username would make him look smarter. Idk but if he's truly retired from a pharmacy.. it's good he did. Could be some ppl n some trouble.
Hydrocodone IS hydrocodone but I don't know if prescribed much. It is usually prescribed as hydrocodone/acetaminophen. Hydrocodone may also be combined with ibuprofen or aspirin.
Oxycodone IS oxycodone hydrochloride and you are correct it has no acetaminophen in it. But there is oxycodone/acetaminophen also available. Also available with ibuprofen or aspirin.
