I take Lasix for Congestive Heart Failure. I have heard that there are safer drugs than Lasix. Can?. anyone give me some names so I can ask my Doctor? I take 20 mg twice a day, but it also doesn't seem to help much.
What other safer drugs than Lasix can I take for congestive heart failure?

Hi, you could try Torsemide (hope the spelling is correct), but please seek medical advice before you change any med, hope this helps?

i think you mean to say furosemide which is lasix. aldactone is also known as spironolactone and is really good for chf as i previously stated.

i also take aldactone which seems to work very nicely for the breathing problems associated with chf, i have also been told it is easier on your kidneys by my doctor, but as a drug alone not in combination with lasix i swell up still. i hope this helps

Do you mean that you take aldactone along with lasix?
If you are taking both lasix and aldactone, do you take any potassium supplement along with this as I was told that lasix depletes potassium from the body and it is to be supplemented to prevent any cramps.

I have just been put on aldactone along with my Lasix, Dr. said not to take any other potassium along with these two- I do have atrib-fib.

I think it should be the other way around and let your Doctor do his/her job and inform you of the names of the safer drugsfor your condition, that is what you pay him for!

A physician will never give an alternative over the counter pill. They get paid by pharmaceutical company.
Not OTC companies.
