I have been using flomax for five yrs . How long do most people use it?

I’ve been on Flomax for just about 4yrs..It seems to help but I’m ready to get off them.There’s a new Procedure that takes 10min. In the doctors office that has pretty high reviews. It’s called Rezum. Has anyone tried this procedure?

I used it for something like 10-15 years prior to having a TURP operation in 2015. But even after an operation the prostate continues to grow and so the urinary blockage gradually returns over subsequent years. Now 4 years after my operation the BPH has returned enough I am thinking about having my PCP prescribe Flomax once again. I figure I may need another TURP or equivalent in perhaps 5-10 years. I'll be in my 70s and I am hoping I will still be healthy enough to be considered able to undergo a surgery. I have the impression there are surgeries similar to TURP but considered lighter surgery with less hospital and recovery time. (My TURP was not bad, I only had to stay overnight in the hospital and they were able to discontinue using the tubes before I checked out. (I had read that some people have to keep them in for up to a few days)

Most drugs were made to be used forever since they were made only to control and not to cure anything. This is a great incentive for the drug companies to develop drugs.

I take Flomax and advodart to control my BPH and the doctors told me for the rest of my life or until surgery is needed. than i wouldn't have to take them anymore

I didn't quite understand this BPH until I came by this site and started looking through the web some time back.

I don't know if anyone has heard of the Nymox trial but I decided to have this procedure done instead of taking pills. I have been in it for 2 months now and it really helped for relief so far.

I am wondering if anyone else has tried it with good results?

I was told it will be lifelong, as well as my newest, 6 months ago, medication of Avodart-also forever;I am 67. The 2 together are a dynamite combo, more effective than either singularly, and this I read is common. I'll have them forever, and I take the Flomax 0.4 mg 2 times a day. I do not like that, but, I guess I'll get used to it. I often forget my a.m. dose, and I do not notice the difference.

Yes, you might need to take Flomax lifelong, to control your symptoms.
