Is Flomax the same as Viagra?

No, they are used for different treatments.

Flomax is an alpha-blocker that relaxes the muscles in the prostate and bladder neck, making it easier to urinate.

Flomax is used to improve urination in men with benign prostatic hyperplasia (enlarged prostate).

Flomax is not approved for use in women or children.

Viagra relaxes muscles found in the walls of blood vessels and increases blood flow to particular areas of the body.

Viagra is used to treat erectile dysfunction (impotence) in men. Another brand of sildenafil is Revatio, which is used to treat pulmonary arterial hypertension and improve exercise capacity in men and women. This page contains specific information for Viagra, not Revatio.

Do not take Viagra while also taking Revatio, unless your doctor tells you to.

No. Flomax relaxes smooth muscles such as the bladder and prostate. This allows urine to flow more easily because the prostate isn't constricting the bladder neck. Viagra helps relax muscles and blood vessels which increase blood flow to the penis which enables a stronger lasting erection.
