Does Diazepam induse a deeper state of sleep?

So i know this may be an easy question to answer but i was recently prescribed it for anxiety and sudden anger outbursts. I have to say i have NEVER IN MY LIFE have had such VIVID dreams. I am just wondering if this if from the drug itself or the effect of the drug relaxing my body enough to concentrate itself into projecting the dream to me.

My girlfriend has told me she wakes up to me having conversastions with people who arent there (obviously because im in a dream). My uncle is now against me being on the drug because i supposidly sat up and started yelling about things very irreivent to anything going on in the room from a deep sleep, then went right back to sleep... I have no recilection of even waking up much less yelling.

So to sum it up im wondering if this drug is related to having vivid dreams, and\or sleep walking\talking?

Personally, i enjoy having vivid dreams, it is almost like being able to be awake 24 hours a day. Its become so obvious to me now that i can recognize when im in a dream, if you can wrap your head around that. Well thank you for reading this and any response would be very much appreciated. Thanks

My son is 16 months old and has taken a wide range of benzodiazepines in his recovery process from a life altering virus, including diazepam. I will say, he physically acts out his dreams. He&rsquo;ll laugh and smile or holler and wine. When he&rsquo;s playing with objects in his dream his hands act it out in his sleep. As a parent or loved, it&rsquo;s not easy to watch. I&rsquo;m ready for it to pass. He was on the IV form for a few weeks and that was to wean him from fentanyl and dex. It&rsquo;s been almost 2wks since his last dose. My guess is, it&rsquo;ll take several weeks if not months to fully get it out of his system. I&rsquo;d prefer sooner than later.

I just wanted to add that I've been taking 5 mg 3 or 4 times a day for a neck surgery I had 8 weeks ago. and last night my husband said I got up out of bed and was stumbling around and I fell. Banged up my knees pretty well. I don't remember a thing.

I have a question, rather than a response. I have been taking diazepam 5mg TID for 6 days. This is a sort of oxymoron, but last night I was aware that I was asleep, but out of bed, eyes closed, stumbling around, knocking things off the dresser and bathroom vanity, walking into door facings and walls. I was aware of all this, but unable to force myself awake. I came fully awake when I thought I was in the den and in front of my recliner. When I "sat down", suprise: no recliner, just the bedroom floor. The bedroom and master bath appeared to have been the site of a doozy of a knock-down drag-out.

I did not get in bed until 2 a.m. because of trying to make a deadline of finishing a classical piano CD and was exhausted. This was around 4 a.m.. I took the diazepam and 10/325 hydrocodone at around 10:30 p.m. I take the hydrocodone for severe lumbar degeneration and moderate-to-severe shoulder damage. I also take Viibryd 40mg at night. I am inclined to think it may be the concomitant use of those meds. Studied quite a bit of of pharm and neurobiology in college, but not near enough to figure this out. 69 years old and all those solid object run-ins and hitting the floor left some serious sore spots. Any suggestions on this delima?

I have been on Valium for the better part of the last 35 years. I did manage of drug-free time between 1994-2003.
WHAT DOSE ARE YOU ON? HOW MANY DO YOU TAKE A DAY-i.e. What is your daily intake? Valium, also, has a long half life.
Be in constant contact with your doctor.
I know it's a helpful drug-that's why it is so popular.

I, too, am recently having very vivid dreams.
I only noticed this once I was put on Suboxone.

I've had many side-effects from Valium, but I can say vivid dreams has never been one of them.

IT IS VERY ADDICTIVE! I am a prime example, as my long term use.
Currently, I am slowly weaning off them.
I would like to be free of all the mind/mood altering drugs once I finish my program of suboxone. I have no idea how long I'll be on Suboxone.
AT FIRST, I thought I'd only be on it for a few weeks, a couple of months at the most.
WELL, that is not going to happen. Looks like I am in the sub for a long time. I started out with the sub at the beginning of September on 8mg. Currently I am on 18mg. This is the first dose I have found that takes my cravings and physical ails away. To some, this is considered a high dose. For me, and for now, it is the dose working for me.

Having vivid dreams IS a side effect of Valium. It could be that it relaxes you and puts you into REM sleep easier, I dont know for sure but it is a well documented side effect of this drug. I have to say, I've always enjoyed having vivid dreams when I took Valium too, as long as they were good dreams. Vivid bad dreams arent so fun! Do you feel it has helped with your anxiety and outbursts? If so, then continue the drug. You have to do what works best for you not what other people think is best for you. Be careful because this drug IS an addictive drug and very difficult to get off of once you are hooked. The vivid dream side effect will probably wane in time so dont let yourself take more to bring that effect back. Stick to your prescribed doses.
