No - mupirocin is an antibacterial ointment used to treat skin infections and will not treat an itchy rash. It should only be used on the recommendation of a doctor.

"Wash the skin thoroughly with soap and warm water. Because the resin enters skin quickly, try to wash it off within 30 minutes. Scrub under the fingernails with a brush to prevent the resin from spreading to other parts of the body.
Wash clothing and shoes with soap and hot water. Resin can linger on them.
Promptly bathe animals to remove the oils from their fur.
Body heat and sweating can aggravate the itching. Stay cool and apply cool compresses to your skin.
Calamine lotion and hydrocortisone cream can be applied to the skin to reduce itching and blistering. Bathing in lukewarm water with an oatmeal bath product, available in drugstores, may soothe itchy skin."

yes u can use mupirocin ointment on poison ivy and sumac etc my doctor gav me a script for it and it dry my poison ivy up in 2 days idk were u got ur info at but ur wrong

I just got poison ivy on sunday. it had already blistered so I used Mupirocin starting on Monday and it started clearing it up and it was gone in two days. Love this stuff. Will keep it on hand as alot of us get poison ivy in our family.

A definite yes. It cleared my poison ivy within days, much faster than creams specifically for such a rash. Mupirocin is amazing and I have used it now for many off label skin problems. It seems to help my skin heal beyond just as an anti bacterial cream.

yes it can be used for poison ivy poison oak and wingworn and poison somac etc. my doctor gave me a script for posion ivy and it dryed up in 2 days work great its the best stuff i ever had for poison ivy who ever said no is lieing there crazzy
