Every time I get a prescription from my Dr. Its for adderall 30mg. Sometimes at the pharmacy I get orange oval pills which are fine. But sometimes I get a different manufacturer and the label reads amphetamine/dextramphetamine. These seem to not have the same affect on me
From what I have found myself is that dextroamphetamine is a narcolepsy treatment. So im asking aren't the two different. Im fine when the label reads amphetamine salts. ... what is going on? ??? Someone please help me understand why they aren't two separate drugs.
Are adderall pills with dextroamphetamine the same as just amphetamine salts ?

Adderall is a combination of Mixed Amphetamine salts. Both these products you asked about contain dextroamphetamine, however there are Amphetamine Sulfate products that might help, different from mixed salts in Adderall.
For instant's, Mixed Amphetamine salts generic for Adderall. The label mixed salts can be confusing. There are several different formulations of mixed amphetamine salts. There're also some forms "Dextroamphetamine/Amphetamine" which are different than Mixed Amphetamine Salts but can be substituted legally. The effect they have on you is quite different. Adderall should focus your thinking while generally motivate and stimulate you physically and mentally while having a calming effect. Google the medical meaning of paradoxical. A Pharmacy Technician may disagree with this explanation but if they don't use this medication they wouldn't know. When they say there all the same, not true.
For example, different manufacturers can be very different, "Teva" b-974 /30 mg - Amphetamine Salt Combo, one of the better Generics for Adderall. "Amphetamine and dexamphetamine" - "Auro life" Pharma" U-31 /30 mg- Orange Round "Amphetamine/dextroamphetamine" is a bad example of what to expect from Adderall. Stressed, crabby, no focus, generally tensed up. I won't except these. Most generic forms are
are of poor quality compared to the brand at best.
Adderall has been stigmatized by many that don't understand how they work.

I don't know all of the exact details. I have asked 4 doctors if the Dextros and the Salts are different. They all said yes they are a little different. Has something to do with the mixture. The dextroamphetamine does not work as well as the salts do for me and a couple other people I know. Some people don't notice any difference.
My prescribing Doctor told me if the salts work better I should call pharmacy ahead of time and make sure I can get the salts and not dextros. It just depends on what the pharmacy has at the time. Both can be given as generic adderall.
I have a bunch of pharmacies in my are so I just call ahead of time and ask if they have what I prefer and that is the pharmacy I use for that month. Sometimes 2 CVS locations will have different things.
I'm not going to pretend to know it all but if you know what works better for you I would just ask the pharmacy if they have the generic adderall type that you prefer and choose the one best for you. If you ask multiple Doctors they will tell you what I just said. Hope that makes sense. Have a good day.

Omg so the last 6 months he same thing has been happening to me I finally asked my doctor what was going on if they accidentally sent in the dextro salts instead of the Adderall 30 mil which always says amphibian salts well he told me he showed me where he sends the same medication every month but depending on the pharmacy’s and what they have at the time the detro salts can be used the generic Adderall , which at the time made no sense I called all my other pharmacy’s and they all said they don’t do the dextro but cvs does and he last 6 months that is where I went and found out why I was getting them and from the 1 st month I felt different . It was not the same drug at all . I hated it . And now I make sure that the pharmacy doesn’t have that brand at all before even going to that pharmacy ...

Adderall or it’s genetic form Amphetamine salts works perfectly fine for me. Any time a pharmacy randomly switches me to Dextroamp-amphetamine I immediately can tell the difference because Dextroamp-amphetamine doesn’t work for me and I’m not sure if it has to do with my particular body chemistry or if in general it’s less effective. The change is drastic though. I can’t function on Dextroamo-amphetamine but I can on Adderall or its generic form Amphetamine salts just fine. If anyone is having similar issues they should probably notify their doctor as well. I personally don’t think these two generic forms of Adderall are the same so I don’t believe they should be interchangeable.

Adderall is a mixture of 4 different amphetamine salts. Most prevalent is its half Ritalin and half amphetamine.
I take Dexedrine which is pure amphetamine.
When my doctor writes the prescription is Says Dexedrine, BUT my bottle just lists the actual drug Dextroamphetamine.
My friend your drugs are just generic and switching brands.
Controlled substance prescriptions are very very strict. Regardless, your going to have to talk to your pharmacist and have them go back on their records and confirm that you’re doctor didn’t make a mistake. But...

Hi John!
I get the same orange, kinda pinkish oval pills and they work fine. You might want to address that issue to your pharmacist and insist on staying with the same pills. If he/she doesn't cooperate, it might be time to seek a different pharmacy. We do have options!

Another good ADD or ADHD medicine to try that is really good and easy on the stomach is called Vyvanse.

To your comment after this, they are not the same price. Not even close unless you have Medicaid. My price was $225 compared to $30 so I’d call that a difference. This is because the patent on Vyvanse does not allow generics yet

I do not actually have an answer to your question but I am having the same problem as you are. Are the numbers on the amphetamine salts script you get the same as the numbers on the ampheta/dextro combo script you get?

As far as I know adderall is a mix of dextro amphetamine and Levo amphetamine which this mixture is usually labeled as amphetamine salts it’s just the label was probably printed by different people

I've been having this problem, and figured out that D-amphetamine salts combo has dextrose and aspartate which gives me horrible headaches and stomach problems.. I have been prescribed the same medication but depending on the pharmacy and what companies they are using for their generic really matters. I've had to move a couple of times and had to learn the hard way. I finally figured out the amphetamine salts that are peach ovals from mylar generic work the best for me, but I'm still totally ADD... I'm wondering if there is some version of this type of add meds that don't have any fillers in them at all. I finally got my "new" local pharmacy after 3 specifically written directives from the doctor not to give me meds with the aspartate in it to special order the others if needed after I tried to ask if they could do this 6 times... finally got it resolved. I've not tried other ADD meds, this works better than nothing, but I'm so ADD I can't even stand to be around my dang self.
