Precautions

Temporary resistance to prothrombin-depressing anticoagulants may result, especially when larger doses of phytonadione are used. It is recommended that Veda-K1 soft chews be used as a follow-up treatment only after administration of phytonadione injection and hospitalization is no longer warranted. An immediate coagulant effect should not be expected after administration of phytonadione when given orally. Phytoandione will not counteract the anticoagulant action of heparin. Repeated large doses of Vitamin K1 are not recommended in hepatic disease if initial response to therapy is not favorable. Failure to respond to Vitamin K1 may indicate that the condition being treated is not responsive to Vitamin K1.

Recommended Use:

Veda-K1 soft chews are for use in dogs and cats as a supplement to counter hypoprothrombinemia induced by ingestion of coumarin-based compounds, which are common ingredients of commercial rodenticides.

Dosage:

Administer orally at the rate of 2.5 - 5.0 mg/kg of body weight (1 soft chew per 22 lbs of body weight for lower doses or 1 soft chew per 11 lbs for higher doses) daily as required for up to 3 weeks.
