MIXING DIRECTIONS FOR LIQUID FEEDING:

Please see the following table for specific feeding instructions. Using the plastic cup enclosed in the bag, add 1 cup (4 ounces by weight) of dry Sav-A-Kid milk replacer to 1.5 pints (3 enclosed cups) of warm (110°F) water and mix thoroughly with a wire whisk.

The enclosed cup holds approximately 4 ounces by weight (113 grams) of dry powder. Feed the reconstituted Sav-A-Kid milk replacer solution at about 90-100°F if feeding by bottle. If feeding free choice, chill the mixed milk replacer solution to help prevent over-consumption, and provide fresh solution daily.

MIXING TIP: the ration is 1 part powder to 3 parts water by volume.

COLOSTRUM - IMPORTANT!

Feed colostrum from the doe within 2 hours after birth whenever possible. Colostrum is the first milk from the doe following birth, providing nutrients, growth factors, and immune globulin proteins that are crucial to the health and growth of the newborn kid. If the doe’s colostrum is not available, another doe’s colostrum or fresh cow colostrum may be substituted, or you may feed Ultra Start® Multi Colostrum Supplement. Goat kids that do not receive colostrum may scour easily.

FEEDING LIQUID MILK REPLACER TO GOAT KIDS

Bottle feed for the first few days to ensure adequate in take of colostrum and a smooth to milk replacer. After that, Sav-A-Kid milk replacer may be offered warm from a bottle, or room temperature to cold in a suitable feeder free choice. Clean equipment thoroughly and provide fresh milk replacer intake carefully, as over-consumption can cause scouring. If scours occur, reduce milk feedings and feed Electrolytes Plus™ according to label directions for goat kids. If scours persist or worsen, consult with your veterinarian.

WATER AND SOLID FEEDS

Provide fresh, clean water free choice at all times. Begin offering high quality creep feed free choice at about 1 week of age. Provide access to high-quality hay or pasture at about 3 weeks of age.

WEANING

Most healthy goat kids can be weaned from liquid milk replacer at about 30 days of age and 30 pounds of body weight, provided that they are consuming hay and grain daily and are growing well.

DIRECTIONS FOR USE AS A DRY POWDER SUPPLEMENT

Sav-A-Kid milk replacer should be top-dressed or mixed into grain, dry starter feed, or creep feed to encourage feed intake during the weaning period for kids, or to provide supplemental nutrients to stressed or under-conditioned goats. Mix 2 dry ounces (1/2 enclosed cup) into 1 pound of fresh dry feed daily. Discard any unconsumed dry feed each day to help prevent spoilage.

IMPORTANT - Individual goat kids vary in requirements. Adjust amounts of powder and/or liquid milk replacer fed according to the kid’s appetite, environmental conditions and your own good judgment. When in question about nutrition requirements, please consult with your veterinarian or animal nutritionist.

Storage

Refrigerate unused Say-A-Kid milk replacer solution immediately after mixing. Reheat gently over warm water and mix well before feeding. Do not microwave or freeze solution. Discard unused refrigerated Say-A-Kid solution after 24 hours.

For the freshest product, store dry Say-A-Kid powder in a tightly closed container in a cool, dry place, and use within 12 months of manufacture. Shelf life may be extended by freezing the dry powder in an airtight container.
