Sterile Injectable Suspension

(Procaine Penicillin G)

DIN: 02227320

Proc Pen LA is specifically formulated to provide sustained antibacterial activity in cattle and pigs following a single administration.

Proc Pen LA is a sterile, long acting stable suspension for parenteral administration containing Procaine Penicillin Ph. Eur. equivalent to 300 mg procaine penicillin per ml.

Proc Pen LA offers the advantage of combining antibacterial effectiveness, with prolonged antibiotic blood levels following a single treatment, thereby reducing the number of injections required in a course of penicillin therapy.

Proc Pen LA Indications

Proc Pen LA is indicated for the treatment of the following infections caused by bacteria susceptible to penicillin.

CATTLE: Bacterial pneumonia, calf diphtheria, footrot, metritis, wound infections.

SWINE: Bacterial pneumonia, erysipelas, wound infections.

Dosage and Administration

CATTLE: Proc Pen LA may be administered by either the subcutaneous or intramuscular route of administration to non-lactating cattle.

SWINE: Proc Pen LA may be administered by the intramuscular route only.

The recommended dose rate is 20 mg procaine penicillin per kg bodyweight, equivalent to 1 ml per 15 kg bodyweight. If necessary, a second dose may be administered after 72 hours.

Do not exceed 15 ml per injection site in cattle and 10 ml per injection site in pigs.

Note: If animals do not respond within 48 hours of administration of the first dose, consult a veterinarian. An alternative antibacterial therapy should be considered.

Shake well before using.
